On the UK IKEA website the Symfonisk controller is showing ‘last chance to buy’
Perhaps their making an updated version to go with their new hub?

Yeah it’s good but not intuitive enough, eg the double/triple tap. This looks to have plenty of buttons so should be easier to use. The new hub is £55 though compared to £20/£25 for the old one. Hopefully it will work with Hubitat though to avoid needing a hub.
I’m currently using one of these for my Sonos control, connected to Hubitat which allows me to assign Sonos command to the buttons/dial. It works but the volume dial control isn’t smooth, you have to rotate it slowly in increments
Excellent, I was only looking at IKEA yesterday in hope…
I haven’t got much hope of it working perfectly with HE like it will with the ludicrously priced £80 IKEA hub. The 1st version never worked properly. Volume adjustment never seems to be do-able. Maybe ‘Matter’ will change that.
I never understand why Sonos cancelled their CR200 Controller 😭 With Android i’m sure they could do something far better at half the price that was.
The CR200 was nice but mine suffered from the screen becoming non responsive, the even older CR100 were painful to search with but were bulletproof for basic controls.
Yeah I remember that. Tech has moved a long way since then though. CR300 - same form factor as CR200 with same hard buttons but running Android with the same app as phones use - optional wall mount via POE - I'd buy 3. I also know it'll never happen, I'm dreaming 😁
I did see some home telephones a while back than ran Android, they came with a wall mount / cradle and the thought of running the Sonos app in Kiosk mode did appeal but they are probably now running an old version of Android that the Sonos app work on.
I also would buy a CR300, well likewise at least three but the cost would have to be under £200 per controller.

£80? The new IKEA hub is £55. Still expensive for a hub though. The old ones work okay, but are just a bit slow to respond. If you’re patient with them, they do what you want.

I can’t see it happening either. Such a device would surely be a couple hundred dollars at a minimum, which is hard to justify when most customers would prefer to use the smartphone instead, since it’s already in their pocket. Or voice control, or an ikea solution like this.
That said, if they can keep the cost down, have dedicated buttons for common use, Sonos voice control, waterproofing, and decent battery life, I can see it maybe making some sense. But even then, they aren’t going to get Alexa or Google voice on these devices. And I really don’t think they can keep the price down.

I don't think voice control would be needed on a controller, might be a nice addition though!

I think it would be pretty much essential. I would think a new controller would mostly appeal to those who have professional installs, amps and architectural speakers, Fives….al things that don’t have voice control. A new controller with SVC would cover that quite well. Although to be honest, a Sonos Roam that can be put in a “voice remote mode” would work really well too.
I’m still (hopelessly) waiting for a push-button based controller to replace the spouses’ beloved CR-100 as she has hand issues that make tablets a real problem and doesn’t have a Windows or Mac computer to use.
In stock from March 3rd in the UK. No sign of a black version on the website but they do specifically say ‘white’ in the advert so that suggests it’ll be available.
Maybe you can help me, I have philips hue lamps with bridge. Do I need to use an ikea bridge and the philips bridge to get all working or can everything work with 1 bridge/app?
