Working great for months, I add a port and now my speakers are cutting in and out across the board

Someone please explain to me how a system that is working perfectly for months suddenly starts cutting in and out when I add a port (which I have removed).

I have three business grade wifi 7 tri-band wired access points.   It is not possible it’s my wifi.

I have taking just about every other thing on the wifi off to check for that.

It streams sonos radio just fine.

I shifted my music from my NAS to my local machine to stream from there.

I switched from my FLAC library to MP3s.

I am at a loss at what else to do.

I see this happening to tons of people on a regular basis on the forums.  WTF?

You can also turn off Sonosnet altogether.  That option was in the last release.

Ah… got it.

Edit: But then how is that mislabeled or named poorly? It does exactly what it says it does. Maybe sonos can add a warning for home theater devices that are using the dedicated low latency wifi, that this could cause problems (Are you sure? Y/N).

'Disable WiFi module' would be correct.

The thing is most Sonos users don’t know the difference between ‘Internet’ and ‘WiFi’.

I’m sure there are some that have been nervous about disabling WiFi, as they may think it will shut the Internet down. 😁

lol. Yup, that’s the part I need to keep in mind!

Does this phrase sound familiar…

”I’ve got strong internet so I know it’s not my network”

It says “Disable SonosNet”.  It does not say anything about disabling WiFi ( 5GHz to Bonded Sub/Surrounds ).  Pretty clear to me.

Two different things, there is confusion about the confusion now.

True, but the Disable WiFi command doesn't leave one with a good feeling about messing with the network.

Just to add my perspective: many customers might also confuse ‘Disable WiFi’ with ‘Remove a WiFi network from your Sonos system’.

Probably best not to confuse the already confused confusion.

A long, more descriptive name and accompanying warning text would be fine with me, however that does use internal memory that is in short supply on many devices.

Changing disable wifi to disable radio doesn't make much difference in memory use.

If I didn't see it causing issues for users here all too often I'd not worry about it.

Radio? I didn’t know my sonos speaker also had a radio! 😀

I think a warning is warranted if attempting to turn off wifi on a device that is using it for surrounds/suibs. That would go a long way to making it clear what’s going to happen.
