SONOS STEREO SYSTEM SET UP: Sonos System is only currently displaying correctly in brown app on Computer…correctly in black app on phone...THIS IS AN ALALOG SET UP...NO OPTICAL OUT ON SOURCE_LENOVO

Living Room System 1:

Lenovo ThinkPad 21JTS0BY00 -> fii0 K11R2R USB DAC -> Fulode EQ315 graphic EQ -> Sonos Amp -> Mythos 5 Definitive technologies passive speakers + definitive technologies powered subwoofer

Bedroom System 2:

Sonos Port -> Fulode EQ315 graphic EQ -> smsl AO300 pro dac power amp -> Chartwell PM 110 passive speakers + Velodyne vrp-10 powered subwoofer

Spectrum Internet services….Lenovo, sonos amp, sonos port all ethernet hardwired

ISSUE: no matter set to living room…or bedroom…starts in living room…when set to bedroom…always drifts back to living room….sometimes choices appear in brown app…sometimes not…always has to be manually set and reset in brown app when system drifts back to living room system….also EQ is always showing activity in both systems simultaneously

I doubt seriously we’ll determine what’s gong on with the OP’s system. The main reason being there’s too many non-Sonos components involved (computers, amps and EQ’s). IMO the OP is trying to build a “Sonostien” (Frankenstein) system and can’t relate how it’s setup. In reality there is no logical reason for one Sonos room to impede upon another Sonos room. Even grouping doesn’t cause such.

Thanks for all of the input...I called Sonos and spoke directly with them sharing screen for about an hour...they new pretty much exactly what I was experiencing...they haven’t yet developed a way (but will) to separate the source signal from my computer specifically and accurately between the 2 systems without doing a couple of manipulations within the brown app on the computer...they showed me how to manually adjust each time...which I am willing to do...I have to unconventionally hit a sequence of  exiting buttons on the screen..but no big deal for me...they are working on the technology that will make this not necessary….again, they knew pretty much exactly what my issue was...thanks again everyone...

This makes no sense to me. I’ve never seen two Sonos devices mix sounds before, without being grouped in some way. Can you share details of what manual adjustments you need to do each time? That might lead us to a better understanding of the issue Sonos is admitting to.

It might be helpful to know if this ‘bug’ exists only when running the computer app, and not the phone app, especially as both the computer apps were retired for new development many years ago, in favor of the web app.

If it’s only related to the brown computer app, that makes even less sense, since the controller app is supposed to be merely a window as to what is occurring on the Sonos devices, and nominally has no real participation, beyond sending commands, and reflecting what is occurring.

I do believe this may be the very first time Sonos support “new (sic) pretty much exactly what (a poster) was experiencing” and gave a sufficient answer when the posters in here weren’t even able to discern the problem.  Either Sonos support has significantly upped their game, or something else is at work here.

All I can say is that screen sharing and being able to ask questions and get answers was probably key to understanding what the op was trying to accomplish unsuccessfully. Sonos support was able to get information none of us could. I’m happy for the op that everything got worked out. But really?

I “Liked” your response as I’m glad it appears some headway was made regarding your issue.

However, I’m curious to know what sequence of buttons you have to manipulate. Futhermore, I think I’m pretty well versed in how Sonos works maybe not as much as  members like @Airgetlam and @jgatie but I’ve never had to manipulate a sequence of buttons to enjoy my Sonos. Granted, I don’t use a computer as an integrated part of my system so I’m not familiar with all the ins and outs.

On another note Sonos as a rule doesn’t share information about emerging technologies reference your statement “they are working on the technology that will make this not necessary”. That clearly suggests something evolutionary coming from Sonos that by my way of thinking is a leak of sorts. Especially so as the “Brown App” as you call it has been on the chopping block for several years and is now set to be phased out entirely in favor of the Web app. Mac computers may lose functionality with the “Brown app” even before Sonos retires it; if Apple pulls the trigger on their new MacOS first.

All said whatever alchemy Sonos Tech Support conjured up Kudo’s to them and congrats on getting your system working (sort of).

Kdowling...I know I have a stretch of a system...but the tech recognized that I was using my computer as the EXCLUSIVE source, outside of streaming services….I think in essence what ended up happening was that the tricky button pushing actually triggered my rooms to line up correctly…..I can go back and forth between both rooms seamlessly in computer app and phone app….he said they wee already aware of this glitch, and were taking care of it in their newer app development…..and yes...he was only interested in brown app….I do not have to repeat his back and forth with mute and pause play buttons...just sayin...thanks for all of your input...and everyone elses...

My last comments were not posted for some reason...I will try again..I hope I did not say anything inappropriate……..When the tech was working the mute and the pause play buttons, I think that was a pattern for the fix….he did not “teach” me how to do this….it simply solved the issue….he did say that they were aware of the issue that I had….I honestly feel the issue is my computer as the source, and no streaming...and being analog…..Thanks kdowling!!!...and everyone else...

The forum software will all too often fail to save and display a post when you press the Send button. This is different from the AI moderation system that only delays it being shown.

No fix has been forthcoming for this longstanding issue but a select-all/copy will save retyping the post.
