SONOS Port and optical to HDMI

I have my Port connected to a Synchro-Mesh via the digital out, and the Synchro-Mesh via toslink to my AMBEO soundbar. The question is this - it seems that virtually any other soundbar does not have an optical input any longer; if I wanted to go to a different soundbar in the future, would it be possible to use an HDMI to toslink converter, but using it instead to convert the optical output to HDMI?

Note, this is only optical to ARC, it does not convert ARC to optical. Not an either way device.
