Can I hook up my playbase with an optical to hdmi arc?  So that my LG magic remote will control column

    No, as soon as you have an optical connection in the transmission, there is not the necessary bandwidth available to carry volume commands. 

    But Sonos does have an FAQ on how to set up the LG magic remote so that it will send an IR signal to the PLAYBASE, so all is not lost.
