EQ not working with Sonos Home Theatre or Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO Turntable

.: Greetings, all. Last year in 2024 I purchased a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO turntable. With help from many on this forum, I was able to buy a Sonos Port pre-amp, and all was well with the new product. I could easily switch between the LG tv and the Pro-Ject turntable.

A couple of days ago, I decided I wanted to change some of the EQ settings for the sound for the turntable. I discovered that changing the Bass, Treble, and Balance Control Settings does not make any difference, nor does the Loudness option.

I have no idea how to correct this function. The rest of my Sonos speakers (Arc SL, two One SL’s) are working fine.

If anyone has any advise on how to correct the currently non-functional EQ controls on my Sonos App, please let me know. Thank you in advance for your assistant and guidance.

If you are listening to the turntable through the ARC, adjust the ARC’s tone controls.

.: Hello, everyone. Well, I raise and wave the white flag today, as I am tempted to throw in the towel: I have somehow lost the sound from my turntable. I am at a loss for words, especially after trying to follow all your help and guidance.

I am including some screen shots of various pages from the Sonos App. Perhaps one or more of you might notice an anomaly that might be causing the lack of sound from the turntable. The turntable is connected to its preamp, which is connected to the Sonos Port.

My apologies for making a mess of this problem.

.: I should note that the sound bars that appear to the left of “Pro-Ject Turntable” on the Line-In graphic are moving if the needle is in contact with an LP.

Also, on the opening Sonos App screen, under “Your Sources," the TV icon sometimes disappears, leaving only “Line-In;” clicking that takes you to the “Line-In” page that lists the turntable.

.: And the hits just keep on coming. This is incredibly embarrassing. I checked all the cables connected to and from the TT, Port, and pre-amp. Turns out one of the cables in the TT was loose. Pushed it all the way in, suddenly there is sound again. Anomaly: there is no volume control on the Pro-Ject TT Line-In Box. The TT volume is now coming through the LG TV Line-In Box.

And with the TT sound coming through the LG TV Line-In, well, now I don’t have any sound from my LG TV.

*sigh*

And...now I have sound on the LG TV. The LG TV sound and the TT sound are both being controlled by the LG TV “TV HDMI” (rectangular) box. The Pro-Jett Turntable Line-In box has no function anymore.

Select TV as your source.

There seems to be some confusion on your side as to the function of the Port, the pre-amp and the line in as a source.

The Port is there to get the sound into your Sonos system. The pre-amp is needed to turn the RIAA typ signal into a usable line in signal to the Port (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_equalization for what a pre-amp does). You stating “The Pro-Jett Turntable Line-In box has no function anymore” seems strange to me - as said it is needed for the Port. Lastly, the “Line in”, though technically a connection to the Port, is used as a Line in to the system. You can either choose that when playing music or using the soundbar as the standard output for the Port (one of the settings in the Port).

Just a side note: why is the volume on the Port set to “Variable”? Since you are playing the Line in on the soundbar, volume should be governed by the soundbar. So the volume on the Port should be set to “Fixed”.
