Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I have a large outdoor installation of speakers connected to Sonos Ports. I wanted to create a schedule to disable/mute the speakers from 10PM to 10AM to prevent family members or guests from accidentally playing music outside and annoying my neighbors. It’s happened several times as they don’t always pay attention and there are so many ways to select the outdoor speakers (spotify, airplay, etc). Having the ability to have restricted or blackout times would be very helpful.
Have 6 Sonos in ceiling speakers with Sonos amp. Bringing amp down so it doesn’t cook in my attic, using wall plate to connect. Wiring in parallel per Sonos guide, can I just use a 4 binding post (2 pair) wall plate and consolidate in the attic combining 3 speakers per banana clip? Or is it better to have a 12 binding post (6 pair) wall plate and then consolidate LR ± in the Sonos amp. Would prefer to do the first as the mess will be on the other side of the wall vs in my cabinet and visible. TIA
I’m considering getting a half decent CD player - perhaps a Marantz CD6007. Highly rated, decent DAC, looks good - what’s not to like. My only speakers are my Sonos - Five / Play:5 in a fairly inaccessible location in the kitchen, Beam 2 / Sub / 2 x Symfonysk lights as my TV surround in the living room, and 1’s dotted around the house. What’s the best way to connect the CD player? Logically the answer is the Port, but I see people say a Five is “just as good” an option. it’s just mines are high up and not necessarily in the right room to listen or run a 3.5mm cable to!At some point I’d perhaps consider Era 300’s for the living room, though (and this is tragic) the fact the Symfonisk’s are decent side lights is actually one of the draws to keeping the Symfonisks, and I’d need new lights to replace them, and have to figure out how to fit both Era’s and replacement lights on to very small tables. As I said, tragic, first world, stupid problems! 🤣 What do you think my best option i
Ever since I upgraded to the Sonos S1 iOS app a few years ago, I’ve been having connection issues. Here’s what’s happening: I have a Sonos Connect:Amp. The amp is in a basement cabinet with router and cable modem. I have 2 exterior rock speakers that are hard-wired directly into the amp. The amp is connected via Ethernet to a small hub that’s connected to the WiFi router right next to the unit. The Sonos LAN settings are configured for Ethernet (says WM:0) in About My System. I have 2 WiFi networks. Call them Primary and Secondary. The reason for the Secondary will be explained below. The Primary WiFi network is an Apple AirPort Extreme (located on 3rd floor) with AirPort Express repeaters at different spots around the home (garage, basement and pool cabana, all Ethernet wired). I have full strength no matter where I am. It’s been rock solid for years. Secondary WiFi is actually the cableco provided router with a WiFi option that I have turned on. Here’s the Sonos issue: While connecte
Hi, a have a problem with my Sonos (bridge, Connect:amp, playbar and sub) I try to Connect to new system, but only bridge was able to Connect When I try with playbar it doesn’t work :( I reset a playbar and its flashing green light, Sonos s1 app finds a playbar (after that I push the buttons) but when I click configure its shows „not connected” and it says „Sonos product not found…” I also try with lan, but the same things happends Please help
I know Sonos says they only support 6 speakers when using Architectural series speakers, however, has anyone had success with 6 8ohm speakers connected to a Sonos Amp? If so kindly advise. I’m looking to setup 6 outdoor rock speakers which are 8ohm and wondering if it might work. I’m not looking to play them super loud and already limit the volume to 80% to prevent clipping on the current Connect: Amp that is powering 4 of them today. Thanks in advance!
Unique question this.I am thinking of purchasing a Spectrum Analyzer to bring some life to my home setup. I’d like to achieve the following:Connect my turntable (amp built in) to my Port, audio to be played through my various Sonos speakers Connect the output of my Port to a Spectrum Analyzer (the Spectrum Analyzer has RCA inputs) The Spectrum Analyzer to display the output signals from the turntable, and a different times the output of other Sonos audio services connected to my wider Sonos setup (i.e. Spotify) Is this workable? Could the Port support such a thing? Basically outputting the sound from my turntable or other Sonos audio services to a Spectrum Analyzer all via the Port’s output cable?
Bonjour je remarque que l’enceinte Sonos se déconnecte souvent du routeur wifi, est ce que c’est possible d’intégré dans l’enceinte un accès point comme ça on dépend plus de la distance pour se connecté directement au système Sonos.Merci
Hi. I recently got a Sonance 6.0 system to add to the other Sonos systems in the house. I had no problem setting the Sonance up and it seems to be working fine on the wifi. When I try and take the volume above about 60% it always cuts out. Works fine up to that volume but always cuts out above that. Any suggestions? Thank you
Have 4 Sonos Amps stacked in a closed cabinet. The sound volume on one of the amps keep going back down each time I tried to increase it. Checked the amps and all were too hot to touch or handle. The amp that I was trying to increase the volume had a red blinking light. Opened the doors of the cabinet and after a while the amps cooled down and the red light stopped blinking. Is this normal? If so why has Sonos not documented this to the consumer?
Hi everyone i currently one a play 5 and play 3 and will probably be buying a Sonos sound bar very shortly but my question is ….id like to buy a radio or small receiver (?) nothing fancy, which would work with my current sonos speakers . Any suggestions to point me in the right direction?thank you in advance best
Basically as the title says, I’m trying to play shared audio in two rooms (these are in ceiling wired speakers) from a home theater receiver. This setup works well when I play streaming music through the Sonos app. But if I want to use a service like YouTube TV, I’ve only found success by directly connecting to the TV and using its own apps (thereby bypassing my media player and my receiver). Is this really the only way to do this? It feels like I’m 90% of the way there and a little silly that the app is limiting this so hard.
Wondering if anyone knows whether there are any plans to release a version 2 port (as Sonos have done with other products) with updated hardware. Or indeed if there are different hardware revisions anyway just not visible from the product name.
Hello, I have a zp 100. My question is if I can lower it to 3 ohms per channel and it doesn't affect much or at least it works?
Now that .Net 7 has shipped and MAUI is becoming increasingly visible and viable, are there any long term plans at Sonos to leverage these technologies? It is now possible to create a single .Net Sonos platform library that handles all of the device management and UPnP stuff that can be then be reused across Windows, Android, iOS, macOS and now Tizen (Samsung TVs and so on), one could then support a Sonos app on all these platforms. What do Sonos think of these technologies and the viability of developing a Sonos software ecosystem based on .Net?I got a basic controller app built a few years ago that ran on Microsoft Phone and Surface (back when it was all about “Store Apps”) and created a pretty sophisticated C# class library for managing UPnP, so I know that this is certainly technically feasible, all that code was for .Net Framework too, with .Net Core and SDK projects today this kind of development is much easier.
Just wanted to share a solution. Had problems regarding the sync between my Sonos Connect, connected with a Beoplay A9, and my other Sonos (arc, Sonas SL). The sound on the A9 came out 1-2 sec later then from the rest. The solution: Open the Bang & Olufsen app Tap the "Settings" icon in the upper-right corner Tap: Settings Tap "Products" Tap your Beoplay A9 4th Gen Tap "Configure" Tap "Sound" Select Line-in and tick "Disable Delay" Note: If the delay is disabled, you cannot distribute sound from the Line-in input in a Beolink Multiroom setup.Everything went in perfect sync after that.
I moved into a house that had 5 ZP120s wired to different ceiling speakers throughout the house. I talked to a pro installer and he said I had to replace all of them to get the speakers to work. I would really like to avoid that, at least for now. Should I be able to use those existing amps? Do I need to reset them and use the S1 app? Are there any guides for making use of inherited/second hand Sonos equipment? I’ve seen some confusing information about whether those devices are still viable or not. Thanks!
Bought a Port to connnect my old music system to my Sonos speakers that I uses to stream music (2x Play 1s, 2x Play 5s and 2x Moves). I cant figure out what connnections to make between the Porrt and the back of the HK. I have now spent about 1.5 hours reading numerrous things on-line and within this community, but can’t fuigure it out. I want to at least play vinyl from my old turntable, old CD player, and old casssette deck, all of which have RCA plug-in jacks on the back of the HK (There are actully 2 sets of Tape Mon jackson on the back). The back of the HK also has Aux jacks, Main In jacks, Pre Out jacks, and Sub Out jacks. I do not plan to wire any apeakers to the HK, Just want it to stream music from the foregoing devices to my Sonos speakers. Thanks
Hi!Would it be possible to play a musical instrument (for example guitar) through any of the Sonos products with line-in input, and not having latency issues? I’m looking at Five speaker, line-in sounds tempting, but how many ms latency does it have? I believe 12ms is a rule of thumb acceptable for live performance. It’s for practice purpose. Era 300 will probably have usb-c line in, so that would probably be even more latency, right?
Hello allExcuse me if I don’t have all the terms correct, but I’m not very techie! I’ve searched this forum, but can’t find an answer that helps meI have a small system (2x Play 1 and a Play 5 (1st Gen)) and use S1 controller all connected to wifi. Recently the Play 5 has been dropping out so I just bought a second hand bridge for £2 to see if I could use this to boost the signal for the Play 5.I’ve connected the bridge OK but I don’t know how/if I need to ‘move’ the Play 5 off wifi and onto the SonosNet to get the possible benefit. I presume that the 2 x Play 1’s will just stay on the wifi as they are not compatible with the bridge? I’m assuming its possible to have all these products within one controller even if they are not on the ‘same’ wifi?I can’t even find any instructions for the bridge online - does it stay hardwired and sat near the router? Thanks in advance for any guidanceBrucie
https://victrola.com/ Didn’t know if anyone was aware of this but thought I would throw it out there. Not a vinyl guy myself but looks interesting.
Hi There is a feature in Sonos AMP that disable RCA input when no input signal. It lead to an issue using microphone From a mix table as input. Its possible to use RCA input without Autodisabling option ?
Received my Sub Mini yesterday. Installing it was a piece of cake. I connected it to my Playbar. Performed Trueplay. Heard no difference in TV sound, whether speak or music. Toggled Trueplay on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Playbar, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled loudness on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Playbar, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled Sub Mini on and off. No difference. Tried various combinations of these parameters. No difference. Tried all of this at 2 different locations; one underneath the Playbar and one abt. 3 meters away. No difference. Throughout testing bass and treble levels at zero. Then connected it to my 2 grouped Play:1's. Performed Trueplay. Once again: no difference in sound. Performed Trueplay. No difference. Toggled Trueplay on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Play:1's, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled loudness on and off. Heard a difference in sound of the Play:1's, nothing from the Sub Mini. Toggled Sub Mini o
I’m ignorant when it comes to sound and may have purchased the wrong thing. I have a Fluance turn table that does not have a built in preamp. I also have a Yamaha receiver is used to use to play it with in wired non-Sonos speakers. I now have two Sonos Ones I’d like to use for the turntable. Do I have the right equipment? I’ve tried to search for the right cord configuration and I cannot get it to work. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!the back of the Yamaha is as follows.
Just started with Apple GarageBand music production software. Bummed to learn that I can’t use my Submini and pair One SLs as my “studio speakers” because of Airplay latency. If I connected the Mac Studio via HDMI to Sonos Amp to then play through to the Submini/pair One SLs, would that solve the delay problem? I’m thinking it would not, because even from the Sonos Amp, I’m then dealing with “streaming” via wifi and I’ll have the same delay.Any ideas? Thanks!
