Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I bought the Sonos 5 to stream music period!. If I wanted a snooping, listening always on "assistant" I would have bought the Google Home or the Amazon Alexa. If I am forced to add this capability to my Sonos 5 with a mandatory "upgrade" I would rather brick the device and simply use it as a Powered Speaker...
Anyone seen pictures of the new Wrensilva Sonos Edition Console which incorporates two Play 5s? I think it’s hideous but leaving that aside I hope Sonos haven’t devoted much time and resources to this product when requests and suggestions from users for enhancements to the current line-up apparently get ignored or dismissed. Only a personal opinion! :8
I have a ZP90 connected via "Coax/Digital Line Out" to my DAC/Amplifier in my living room. I would like to be able to adjust the volume from my Sonos Controllers/APs. Thus, I have the Output level for the "line-out" set to "Variable". However, with this setting the volume of the output is very, very low. I have to turn the amp up to almost full volume to reach a "normal" level. If I switch to "Fixed" level on the Line out volume, the level is fine - but then I can only adjust volume on the amplifier, not on the Sonos controllers. Dose anybody have a solution?
Sonos is now available on Costco.com at a discounted price. Intro bundle $1099!
Good morning :-) Is anyone using miniDSP devices with a Sonos Connect? If so, are you still able to achieve sync with other sonos speakers or does the miniDSP add delay to the music playback? I am thinking the following scenario: Sonos Connect (optical / coaxial out) => MiniDsp device (e.g. miniDSP 2x4 HD) => Amplifier line in => Speakers Speculating that the Dsp device will add some delay at least but not sure if this is bad enough to lead to out of sync playback with the rest of my sonos speakers (play 1, Play 5). Any experiences with the above? Cheers Yiannis
Hi, we first got a sonos 1 and we where very pleased with good sound. We then bought sonos 3 and 5 but the sound is very flat, i gues the settings is wrong or something but i just cant find a solution. Do you have any tips ??
Has anyone took their Connect apart to drill some vent holes for better ventilation on the top? Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. TIA
Is it possible to play live music through Sonos connect?
In the Sonos App for my Ipad, under the Sub settings is an option to enable placement adjustment. I can't find any information on this, not even in the manual - unless I've overlooked something? Could somebody please give me a semi detailed explanation? Thanks!
I would love to be able to use wireless headphones with Sonos. Is there a way to make this work, or perhaps Sonos is considering developing this?
I'm just about to take the Sonus plunge. I have two different receivers in the house: A pioneer sc-65 with surround sound set-up and and a Denon AVR-2808 with a couple bookshelf Bose speakers. I'd like to utilize the existing speakers attached to both receivers. Is that possible? Would I just attach a Connect to reach of the two receivers? Would the music stay in sync? I also have a separate pair of Klipsch speakers sitting around....could those attach as well with a Connect-AMP? I'm just not sure if I'm limited to one connect or if multiple connects can work and stay in sync. thanks for the help!
Hi all, Is there a difference in tech/specs between a Sonos connect of 4 year old and the latest Sonos connect? Or is it just the updates? Jamesco!
Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had any information about the LOVE Turntable. It's a current Kickstarter Project which is really taking off. I have backed it as it looks very smart and a unique take at a turntable. Wondering if there are any thoughts for / against? The advert for it also states that it will be picked up as an input on the Sonos app without any adapters etc. Mostly, i'm just looking to find out if this is 100% accurate and going go happen and whether anyone at Sonos could confirm? I'd hate to buy it and find that it doesn't work with anything I have... The project is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/493608538/love-the-worlds-first-intelligent-turntable?ref=5xkiae&gclid=CLTC58bSqdICFVXnGwodU4sAAw All the best, Diolch
Hello there, I wanted to know if I am the only one with the following need: I would like a CONNECT with only digital output because I want to use my receiver DAC. Of course nothing prevents me from using the CONNECT but I was wandering if without the analog part it could be possible to make this digital-only-CONNECT cheaper and smaller. For example I was thinking as small as some modern casting/streaming devices, where you can get power directly from a nearby USB plug. Also digital out could be the usual coax/optical but it could also be HDMI and it could be possible in this way to solve another issue that I saw in the forum: having the controller to power up the rest of the equipment. With HDMI I never touch my receiver, all the other devices turn it on/off through HDMI. And it could open the potential for streaming music videos....
Hi I have a Samsung smart TV hung on the wall on one side of my kitchen. On the other side of the room I have AE aego M satellite speakers mounted on the wall plugged into a sonos connect. I would love to have the TV sound through my aego m speakers. I've thought of a USB powered Bluetooth transmitter and receiver to get the sound to my sonos connect input but realise that latency on Bluetooth will make this rubbish. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this? Thanks in advance Neil
I have an active network: devices being added and taken away, new sources of RF interference & neighbours changing wifi channels. A frequent piece of advice is "you must power absolutely everything in the network off and on again", or "power on and off Sonos devices". With a reasonably large house, or devices in awkward locations this can be hassle. It would be convenient if there was a remote restart switch that could cycle Sonos devices, say a "restart in X minutes".
I didn't see this anywhere else in the community. If it's already listed somewhere feel free to remove it. For anyone who is using their Play 5 Gen 2 speakers without floor stands and have them setting on a desk or counter this newly released Flexson Play 5 (Gen2) Desktop Stand are worth a look. When I purchased the Sonos Gen2 Play 5’s (configured in stereo pair w/Sonos Sub) no stands were available. Therefore, I purchased two garden style Marble Top Tables (27.75 H x 10.75 W x 10.75 D / Marble Top 0.5 H x 11 W x 11 D). Measurements are in inches. By the time Flexson introduced upright stands for the Play 5 Gen2 speaker I’d resigned myself to stick with the Marble Top Tables (which my wife liked better anyway). Then I happened upon the Flexson Desk Top Stands for the Play 5. IMO they are well built and sturdy. Capable of sustaining the angle you set them to under the weight of a Play 5 Gen2 speaker. They even have a laser cut finish that exposes the aluminum which runs across
Hi, I have had my Sonos setup since 2013 and I love it. The sound is fantastic and they have never let me down. I would like to expand on my products and have some requirements that are not yet catered for by Sonos. I would like to ask that you review these ideas for feasibility. 1) Instead of purely tying PLAY1's or Play 3's to my Soundbar and Sub for surround sound in my living room, it would be great to have in-wall speakers that are based on the Sonos principle meaning, they only require power to function and can be added as surrounds. Much like the Monitor Audio products http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/products/applications/in-wall 2) The same principle as above but for in ceiling speakers. I would love to have in ceiling Sonos speakers on my ground floor and 2nd floor but without the hassle of running cables to Sonos Connected Amps somewhere. If it could be a matter of purely adding power, that would allow me to immediately expand my Sonos collection. Should the above
Best regards. As you know in SONOS connect: amp, when the subwoofer is connected automatically a kind of filter is activated adjusting the sound in the speakers, reducing the bass and increasing the treble. Is that so? This are my questions: If I have a subwoofer connected to the SONOS Connect: amp and group one or more zones (eg a SONOS PLAY 3). The other zones will be affected by the filter or sound adjustment of the SONOS Connect: amp? Ie the other SONOS speakers will lower the bass and increase the treble? The second question is: Is it possible to disable the automatic sound adjustment of the SONOS Connect: amp when connecting the subwoofer? Sorry for my English Thanks for your help. I remain attentive.
I am adding a Sonos Connect between y Emotiva Pre and Power Amp. Will my system still work conventionally with the Preamp volume control when I'm playing preamp inputs (CD, Turntable etc) as always, or will the Connect create havoc?
I've heard the playbar with sub and I think it sounds great. However, I'd like to avoid cluttering up my mantel with a soundbar. I have built-in cabinetry on each side of the fireplace. I'm thinking about using a connect: amp along with some high quality book shelf speakers and sonos sub. It's my understanding that the line out from the tv can go to the connect amp. Anyone do this and can tell me about the sound quality? I realize this is only a 2.1 stereo sound. I have a home theater in my basement for serious surround sound. I'm just looking for good quality stereo sound with good voice/dialog for casual TV viewing. I'm concerned I won't get that without a center channel speaker, but if I have to add a center channel I'll be back to square one and might as well go with a playbar.
I have 4 Yamaha NS-IW360C ceiling speakers with an impedance of 6 ohms each. How can I connect them to the SONOS Connect AMP to have two stereo zones? (Example: kitchen and dining room) No need to activate or deactivate any of the zones, they can always sound at the same time. Should I use a speaker selector? Do you recommend any? I also have a Yamaha YST-FSW150BL Advanced YST II Down-Firing Active Subwoofer, can I use this subwoofer with the SONOS Connect AMP? Thank you very much for your help.
Hey guys. Just like the title states, I understand there is lip sync issues when streaming media and sonos is a "go to" kind of system. With that said, can I connect my laptop to tv via hdmi and from tv to sonos surround playbar via optical ?? Will I get true surround sound ? Thanks!
Request to add a Sonos connect which has no preamp, amp, or speakers, all digital with the addition of a usb port, to the presently provided coax and optical ports.
I realize Connect is probably a bit oldschool since most younger people might not own traditional stereosystem but I personally believe it's time for an updated version of the Connect anyhow. I've used Sonos for two years using two Play:1 and three Connect ZP90 and since there's quite a lot of wifi traffic around (kids in the house wathing Youtube, playing online games e.t.c.) and my experience is that the Play:1 are much more resistant to busy wifi traffic than the older ZP90 which from occasionally fall out or have drop outs. So I'm sure there's rome for improvement here. Featurewise I'd like a headphone output on the front and I would like some kind of "extra buffer" option where the risk of dropouts are reduced on the expense of responsiveness being a bit slower. Any one else who feel it's time for an updated version of Connect?
