4.1 Setup, what sub to use?

I am working on setting up a 4.1 system in our living room. (Using a Samsung Frame so wife didn’t want to use a Soundbar)

We have 2 LCRs in wall with an amp (phantom center) and 2 in ceilings for surrounds with a separate amp.

Debating on whether to use a 3rd party subwoofer or a Sonos Sub 4 subwoofer with the setup.

Any pros/cons to each?

Thanks!

A Sonos Sub (4th gen) might be a better choice. Not only is it powered (a requirement either way), but it should be able to bond wirelessly to your front Sonos Amp, giving you more latitude for placement of the Sub. You’d also get the option of adding a second Sonos Sub, if desired.

Not being tethered to the amp by a cord seems priceless thanks!

I think so! There’s still a power cord, but any reduction in wiring is a good thing. Just need to be sure the Sonos Sub can receive a 5Ghz signal from the Amp. So distance is a minor issue. Assuming there isn’t much wifi interference , you should be good within a certain distance.
