Question

Pairing Different region Sonos product

I've got a pair of ERA 100s purchased in Australia; they served me well.
Now, i am relocated to Mainland China, and i would like to adding a Sonos Arc Ultra to my new home.
I've read some posts from social media realized due to the different Wlan requirement, the Sonos Arc Ultra Mainland China version will not paired with the ERA 100s I bought in AUS.

Now I am wondering which region version I should purchase?
It's a bit unrealistic for me to travel back to AUS just for the ARC Ultra.

I saw some post states the Hongkong and Australia have the same WLan configuration.
So, If i purchased the Sonos Arc Ultra in Hong Kong or Macau, and I brought it into Mainland China, will I be able to pair all devices together?

That really sounds like a question for Sonos Support, get an answer and note who gave it to you just in case there are issues.

Not remembering if Support can remotely tweak the region setting so ask that too.

Hi @Sturdy Label K

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

To save you the bother of calling in, I have an answer for you!

Hong Kong and Macau are considered the same region as Australia, so I can guarantee that if you purchase an Arc Ultra from one of those two locations, it will support the use of your existing Era 100s bought in Australia as surround speakers.

What I cannot guarantee is that an Arc Ultra purchased in China will not do so, so unless you’re planning a trip already, I’d consider purchasing in China first and getting a refund if it doesn’t work - please check with the retailer if the refund option exists first, though. I came across this issue myself with UK surrounds and a US Arc Ultra, and they did not work together, but I don’t know if the regional differences are the same, or even comparable.

The region for a player cannot be changed by our support department, as @Stanley_4 brought up. I was only able to resolve it in my own case due to my Arc Ultra being a pre-production version. Any Arc Ultra purchased now can not have it’s region altered after the fact.

I hope this helps.

As much as I dislike reddit the best information I could find is there in the posts by mikefromsonos.

Hi everyone, I noticed the team was tagged in this post and it gained a lot of traction. Sorry for the delay, I wanted to ensure I had all the facts correct before responding.

I see some confusion here, so let me help clarify a few things.

Like others have said in this thread; this isn’t a “region lock” in the commercial/software sense. Sonos products generally work outside the country of purchase for standalone use.

 See the rest on reddit.

This really should also exist on the support site!
