Question

How do I set an alarm to play one of my Deezer playlists?

Hi

I'm thinking of using my Sonos speakers in my bedroom to replace an old stereo / Wiim Mini combo.

In order to do that I need the alarm functionality.

Playing around it just now, I'm unable to set my "Wake Up" Deezer playlist to be the music. I can select the generic Deezer playlists but not my own.

Any ideas on how I could overcome this?

Save the Deezer playlist as a Sonos playlist and use that.

Thanks. That works. I'll need to re-sync it though each time I add songs to it though.

If the playlist is not showing in the music picker for alarms, it is a bug in the Deezer SMAPI implementation. They are incorrectly blocking it. https://docs.sonos.com/docs/add-capabilities

Thanks. So I guess I need to raise a support request with Deezer, right?

Good luck… 🙈

I cross my fingers that they understand your problem at all. I really like and use Deezer but their Sonos Integration could be improved.

I ran into the same thing with a streaming playlist, and saving it as a Sonos playlist was the workaround that worked for me too. I just keep my wake-up list fairly stable so I do not have to re-save it very often. It is a bit clunky, but it has been reliable as a morning alarm for me.

Hmm, I have done some testing this morning and I was able to use one of my own created Deezer playlist by using the search function within alarm settings. If I enter the name of my playlist, it will be shown as a result and I can choose it for my alarm.

Interesting. That did not work for me. Was yours set to public or private?

Public… but that was my suspicion, too. So I switched to private, but it still worked.
Maybe the changes on Deezers side take some time. But I recommend to set the Playlist to public.

Have you tried adding your Deezer playlist to Sonos Favorites first? Sometimes personal playlists don't appear directly in the alarm music selection. If that doesn't work, check whether the playlist is accessible through the Sonos app and try creating the alarm again. Hopefully, Sonos will improve support for personal playlists in its alarm feature.

Yep. The same workaround was suggested above and it works.

Yes, the way via Sonos playlist of course works, but as said it should also work by directly choosing the Deezer playlist. And as said… for me it works, if I use the search option within alarm settings.

Did you wait some time (at least some hours) after setting your Deezer playlist to public before trying again?

Yep. It's still not available even now.

I have to correct my first comment… I can’t see all of my personal playlists when choosing Deezer content voa search within alarm settings. But I can see two of about 10. And I have no idea, what might be the difference between them. All are public playlists. So sadly the only safe way at the moment is adding them as Sonos playlists. Quite strange…

PS: „Spinning Fatburner“ is the only one added to Sonos favorites. And even this one can’t be found via search. But the two playlists shown in the screenshot are found.
