Sonos uses a single player across all streaming services. Usually, if you’re getting an encoding issue it means the format being fed to Sonos (pretty damn rare) isn’t correct, or there is something (much more commonly) interfering with the data stream, most often wifi interference .

You’ve not provided details so anyone else can test, so I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of reproducing the issue, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Do not factory reset any units. Also, don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Have had Amazon playing on 300s or a Play 5 all evening, no glitches noticed.

But no indication of S1 or S2 running on this PLAY:1, or any details regarding the songs or formats of the songs. I don’t even know/think you can play Atmos encoded stuff on a non Atmos speaker, and certainly not on an S1 system, but I have no idea what/if error it produces.
