Alexa Voice Volume

The Alexa voice volume is way louder than the music level. Anyone aware of a fix. I’ve read other threads without a working solution and mention of Sonos looking at a fix 7 years ago!

Hi @RobbinsBobbind

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

At present, all Voice Assistants available on Sonos speakers have their voice volumes linked to the speaker volume - they cannot be altered separately from the speaker’s volume setting.

Thank you - I shall mark this thread as a feature request to have a separate volume control on a speaker for an installed Voice Assistant, and it will be seen by the relevant teams for consideration. Keep the ideas coming!

As this has been requested before, and as it does sound like you interpret that as us “looking at a fix”, please be aware that this has only ever been a feature request - to my knowledge, we have never stated that we will implement such a feature.

I hope this helps.

It should be an easy software fix. Just make „if Alexa about to respond, lower volume to X, then right after response, change back to previous volume“. The reason this is not happening is because it’s low on priority. I agree that there are many other issues that get way more traffic, but the fact that this was not tackled for so many years, then just don’t implement voice assistants in your product.

Except it isn’t consistent. I have the opposite problem on my Arc - at a normal listening volume for music/TV, Alexa is practically inaudible.

I agree that it should be a relatively simple software update, but it looks like the change needed varies between products. The ridiculous thing is that basic QA testing should have identified and prevented this…

Since the voice should be too loud nor to low in volume, and either does not seem to happen on all systems, maybe it is time you reached out to Sonos, as mentioned above?
