Advanced & troubleshooting
This is the place to discuss your Sonos Hacks, advanced setup, and troubleshoot the stuff that doesn't work as you want it to.
Diagnostic code 6644366. Two Play 1s. It seems like every other day when I try to operate my Sonos speakers they fail to work. I try checking for software updates, resetting the router, even completely uninstalling and reinstalling the system and sometimes that fixes it, sometimes it doesn't. If it does fix it, I get at most a few days of it working before it starts giving error messages again. I can understand the occasional error but the fact that this keeps happening is immensely frustrating - getting to the point where I feel like giving up on my Sonos speakers and getting some Amazon ones instead. PLEASE HELP. Right now, I'm getting both of the error messages in the subject line when I try to operate the speaker from my phone, and from my Mac it's just not working - like I press play and nothing happens. I've reset my router and "reconnected" the speaker. Thanks, Charlie
Cannot make it work. Music constantly breaks and cannot be heard. I consider myself a technician, but does not look like this works well. Can someone help or so I need to throw my Sonos away? One small device already broke and was happy that I was told that an update makes me be able to use my device which is still working, but it looks like this does not work. Help?!
Looks like I have every single problem there is. I have had Sonos for four years now without a hitch, recently it started dropping out on me (system disappeared in the controller). That means that my controllers will find my units, or only a couple of them. I have android units, iPad and a laptop. Further, once connected (to only a couple of the units) it will not see any of my playlist. It will not connect to spotify. Trying to update it will not, and trying again and again I get every single error message there is (1001, 1101, 1104 etc etc). I tried to update the units one by one (all other units powered off), a couple of the units updated after trying 20 times or so, but some never did I ran my sonos network off of a bridge but decided to change that and run it on the wifi hoping it would take care of my problem, it did not. I tried flushing the DNS (rebooting everything in sequence), it did not help. I changed channel on my router, it did not help. . I contacted support but
Hello I'm not sure if this is possible so o thought I would ask here. Currently using a turntable on my play5 and using the Autoplay feature. so if I start to play a vinyl whilst listening to Spotify then the sound automatically switches to the vinyl. This works great. One the record finishes, is there a way of then automatically switching back to Spotify or the queue? Thanks in advance for your help.
I have my music on a NAS drive (USB memory stick); I can find the location in Sonos setup (\\nas\storage\music) and Sonos tries to index the files. However it never stops trying to index and shows the rotating symbol for hours until I give up. Any ideas what I might try next. By the way, the USB memory stick works perfectly with Sonos when plugged into my computer it's only when used as a NAS it fails.
Use of a Bluetooth Plantronics 5200 series headset on my computer will cause the SONOS app on my iPhone to lose its WiFi connection. It cannot reconnect, even after restarting the app, unless I cease use of the headset. Not knowing alot about radio wave spectrum, I would think that there would be a way for vendors' products to avoid conflicts. Any work-around to solve this problem? If SONOS is playing when I pick up the phone, I have to walk to the SONOS speaker to cut the music. I don't mind the walk, but then my headset loses its connection with the PC. (Life sure can be tough, eh? People elsewhere in the world would love to have such problems.)
Hello again. Seems problems never leave me in peace. Any music services get cut off connections. Tried rebooting pullling the plug off switching the channels for both sonos and the router and reauthoring re-adding and probably more. I've done every thing I can think of to fix this problem. regardless how many times I have fixed problems they come back to me periodically. It's playing cat and mouse forever. So stressful. Diagnosis number is 6636486.
I was able to set up Sonos on an iPad and attach a speaker. Once that was done, I was unable to add a second speaker to the system. The network that it is attached to is an enterprise wifi on which we connect our BYOD devices. The second device is recognized during the initial setup. When you are prompted to hold the pause/volume to listen for the chime. Well, I get the chime but I never get the next prompt at the lower right hand of the screen. Does anyone have any suggestions other than plugging the thing into a router?
I am new to Sonos and rcently purchased a Play1. Setup went ok and was able to play music from my iTunes account from my IPAD. After about one week the iTunes music was missing from the "on this IPAD" folder but my favourites folders are still present and Play successfully. Clearly I have pushed a button or something. I have searched the community topics but to no avail. I have run through the setup again but still unsuccessful. The iTunes music is still on my IPAD. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.
Hi I recently stayed at an AirBnB that had a Sonos system setup. We were allowed to use the system so I added my Apple Music account to it so that I could stream my music. However I left the AirBnB without removing my Apple Music account from the Sonos app. Now I am worried that the owners of the house can use my account. Is this correct or do I have nothing to worry about? Thanks, J
Hello everyone. I wonder if Sonos Connect does the DAC conversion of analog signal, that comes in to the device, and then do the conversion again while sending it to 'analog out'? I think it does and I look for a possibility to use Connect as a preaplifier but without double conversion? I need to plug in hi-end CD (with better DAC then Sonos) to power aplifier and would like to use Sonos as a preaplifier but without loosing quality. It is possible? Pawel
Hi I try to describe my setup: - I have 3 Access Points from Ubiquiti (on 3 floors of a rather big house) - 1 Netgear Switch (in the basement and a star-RJ45 network going into the rooms.. where the AP's are) - 1 Ubuqiutiy Security Gateway (my Router, where the Switch is connected to) - 1 Sonos Boost (in one of the rooms on the ground floor hard-wired) I guess I have a BOOST-Network (what sonos calls it... but not sure about that) My Problem: When I connect my controller on a Apple Device (Iphone or MacBook) which is connected over my home WIFI, the controller only recognizes the speakers on that floor where I just am (e.g. when I am in the living room, then the controller finds the speakers in the living room). When I move upwards (and I guess my mac-book connects with the UbiquiI AP on the top floor), then the speakers there won't be recognized. When I log out from my controller and log in again, sometimes the speakers on the Top-Floor are shown (and the ones in the living
I just got 2 5s, 2 3s, and the sub. This is my first day trying them out together. This is what I've observed: * reasonably long periods of time with solid playback * skipping to the next song in the middle of a song * restarting a song in the middle of a song * music stops entirely for around 10-30 seconds * "Can't play this song/station" error occurs frequently * The app seems to generate "suggestions" rather than commands. Pause, play, volume, all of it doesn't work as expected. It's very Windowsy. I've got gigabit fiber in a small apartment with no wireless connectivity issues for other devices. I've got to determine if this is fixable or if I need to return this whole getup. Sonos is supposed to handle your typical streaming problems, I thought. Instead it creates new problems.
When playing my vinyl via the connect unit to my playbar, I used to select "line in component" in the app and I was good to go until I decided to switch the source. Now when I play a side of vinyl, I have to press the play icon on the app before I can hear any music, then have to repeat the process for side 2 and any subsequent vinyl I want to play in a session. This never used to be the case. I simply selected line in and hit the play icon once. That would stay as play until I physically changed it on the app. I'd like that back, as it's a real bummer to have to hit play every time you turn the record over. Any advice out there in SonosLand?
I have recently put together a "vintage" stereo with a Tuner from 1979, Speakers from 1977 and a turntable. Currently, I have a Apple AirPort connected to it for streaming service. We have noticed that, while the speakers are excellent, it is tough to hear the music through the house as we had hoped. Due to the layout of the home, running speaker wires is not an option. Can I hook Sonos up to my existing stereo and listen to, not only the streaming services, but the Turntable as well through the existing speakers AND the Sonos system? Thanks for your help
My Sonos system is working fine. Today the PC controller tells me a system update is available - it has failed 3 times and deletes all my components from the controller with the exception of my Play 5. I had to remove and reinstall the controller to get it to 'see' all my components. PC running Windows 10. I tried the update using my Android phone and the same thing happens. The error code (can't remember the number) suggested it might be something to do with a firewall. Any ideas?
I'm building a new house. I want speakers in the sealing in the living room (Both main and tv room), Kitchen and both bath rooms. All TV, Internett and speaker cables will go from junction box. I heard i need a Sonos control box for every room? That's OK. But i cant fint the control box i need?
I have a Sonos system that consists of 5 speakers looking like the following: Living Room: Playbar and two Play 1's setup as surrounds. Kitchen: Play 5 (New Model) Bedroom: Play 3 (hardwired) I have issues off and on with the Kitchen Play 5 dropping in and out. they are usually rather quick in nature, a second or so blip. Additionally I noticed today that both my Play 1's (surrounds) are suffering high OFDM ANI level's. Looking for assistance/thoughts on what might be up. I have attached the network matrix.
After today's app update the system deleted the stereo pair in my kitchen and I cannot re-add them, it was working perfectly well before the update. I have reset the controller, added a new system and still not able to add the two play 1's back into the system.
