Hi ive recently gone from mac to pc and no  longer have air mac...and i want to make the sonos my default speakers for my PC i asked co pilot about it

🌐 Option 3: Streaming via Software (for full system audio)!--startfragment>!--startfragment>

If you want to stream all PC audio wirelessly to Sonos:

🛠️ Use third-party software like:

  • Stream What You Hear (SWYH) – for Windows
  • AirSonos or AudioBridge – for Mac

These apps create a virtual stream that Sonos can play as a “radio station”:

  1. Install the app and start streaming.
  2. Copy the stream URL.
  3. In the Sonos app: Manage > Add Radio Station and paste the URL.
  4. Play it from Radio > My Radio Stations.

HAS anyone tried this...i have attempted using a 3.5 headphone jack with the line in option but it produces a loud humming sound and the quality was distorted,,,!--endfragment>

As a guess, you have the headphone jack’s volume misadjusted, either set too loud, or too soft, and the adjustment of the line in level on the Sonos is picking up too much ‘noise’. Sonos is designed for a line level input, not an ‘amplified’ one such as a headphone jack, so there are a lot of adjustments on both sides that need to be done for it to work properly. You’d be better finding a line level output on your PC, if you can. Mine doesn’t have one, unfortunately, but I’ve not looked at various sound cards in years.

I have not tried ‘casting’ sound output from my PC to a Sonos using Stream What You Hear, since Sonos really are poor computer speakers, generally speaking. What I have done, however, is use Bluetooth, on rare occasions, to connect my PC’s output to a Sonos device. Not frequently, mind you, but it does work for me.

Yes, I am using it and it works.
I Installed SWYH and installed the Sonos Windows app.
I First start the SWYH app and then select “swyh.mp3” in the Sonos app to stream to my Sonos system.
