I have managed to using Sonos connect to have Sonos system of output to include hi-fi speakers at the same time. However, I haven’t worked out how to do the opposite whereby I play a vinyl record or cassette and the output goes to the hi-fi speakers and Sonos speakers at the same time using Sonos connect. I have a Denon receiver. any ideas?

This is done by connecting an audio output such as a tape out to he inputs on the Connect. Then you must select “Line In” from the Sonos apps Home Screen. If there is no line in detected, that source will not appear.
What is the model of the Denon receiver? Some of the newer models do not have a usable output.

Basically, as I understand it, the ‘source’ needs to be the Sonos, since it is the device that has the delay on the analog inputs. The output of the Sonos would then play in sync across all ‘rooms’, including the speakers connected to the Denon. As suggested, the easiest path is to plug the source device directly into the Sonos, but there may be other ways. I’ve long since sold my amplifier.
