Hi everyone,

I have a question about a potential setup:

I already use several Sonos speakers around my apartment. In addition, parallel to sonos speakers, I have a pre-amp record player connected to a pair of active B&O speakers (via RCA).

I’m wondering:
Could I add a Sonos Connect between the record player and the B&O speakers, so that:

  1. I can still use the B&O speakers to play vinyl

  2. I can also send Sonos/AirPlay audio to the B&O speakers

  3. And ideally, I can sync the B&O speakers with the rest of my Sonos system, so they all play together

The key thing is:
I don’t want to have to unplug the record player every time I want to use Sonos/AirPlay — so I’m looking for a sort of "RCA switch with Sonos/AirPlay built in." Would the Sonos Connect work in this case?

Is it even possible to use a Sonos Connect to "bridge" audio between a non-Sonos source and non-Sonos speakers like this?

Also, if this is possible, do all versions of Sonos Connect support this functionality, or should I look for a specific model/version?

Thanks in advance for any help before I go buy a Sonos Connect!

The Sonos Connect has been succeeded by the Port. The Connect does not do AirPlay though (see https://support.sonos.com/en/article/stream-airplay-audio-to-sonos). If you, despite this,  would be looking for a used Connect, look for a Gen 2 Connect (made after 2016) that will function on the S2 software and will work with newer devices.

The Connect and the Port have an “in” as well as an “out” RCA connection. You should be able to connect either in between the preamped record player and the B&O speakers. This would mean the sound from the record player would be in sync with your other Sonos speakers if you group the Port with them and you can Airplay to the Port and thus the B&O’s.

Connect Gen2 are generally considered to be those manufactured from around March/April 2015
