How can I use Play 1 as an external wireless PC speaker

I was told that as Sonos Play 1 is a effectively a network speaker and amp that I could hook it up to my PC wirelessly through the network so that all my PC sounds from whatever piece of software I am using comes from the Sonos Play One. This seems to be not possible. Does anyone know how I can do this.

You were misled completely. There is no quality way to stream direct from computer soundcArd output to a Sonos Play:1

Services have to be Sonos compatible for their app to stream to Sonos

Play :5 makes a good computer speaker as it has input that can therefore stream your computer sound to all other Sonos speakers in the house as well.

This isn't possible with a Play:1, sorry. You would need a Connect or a Play:5 and then a wired connection from your PC.
