As he surmises in the video, Sonos switched to a newer CPU a couple years ago that is capable of AirPlay, but probably didn’t want to confuse/piss off owners of the older Play:1s by adding AirPlay to the newer generation. The SL, which replaces the Play:1, is fully AirPlay enabled. I wonder if it will have the same board inside?

We need this guy to do another tear down of the SL. I read about the hardware change which happened in 2017 iirc, but that the newer Play1 is capable is interesting.

my integration of symfonisk motherboard in jmlab 706s speaker (based on makezine.com).

    Notes :
    - need to extend internal AC wire (be careful) and internal speaker wires.
    - trueplay makes miracle (on/off it changes everything).
    - don't forget to disable loudness (to heavy to drive for the digital amp at high level).
    - enable volume limiter to 85% (to heavy to drive for the digital amp at high level).
    - i don't bypass the speaker crossover for the moment

Nice job with mounting the components. Now that you've had a month testing this out, any updates/thoughts?

How did you extend the internal AC wires and internal speaker wires?
