After dozens of annoying trial and error sessions (with mostly errors :) I want to briefly share what finally worked.

Long ago the issues arose when installing my new ZenWiFi AX XT8 mesh system, when the Sonos system wouldn’t connect at all to the system. By trouble shooting turning things like the QoS off etc, I got it to work fairly stable. Until a recent FW update (3.0.0.4.388_24688) when the issue began with intermittent audio dropouts from my two Play:3 speakers, which are used as surround sound speakers in my Sonos system alongside the Sonos Arc (connected by network cable) and Sonos Sub (Gen 3). Both Play:3 speakers would simultaneously cut out for one or two seconds before resuming playback, and this happened ever 5-10 seconds. Needless to say, VERY annoying. Despite having the Arc connected via LAN cable, the Play:3 speakers continued to experience dropouts, which disrupted my overall audio experience.

Steps That Didn’t Resolve the Problem:

  1. Disabling Airtime Fairness and QoS:

    • Double checked the Airtime Fairness and Quality of Service (QoS) settings were disabled - check. 
       
  2. Binding Sonos Devices to a Specific Mesh Node:

    • Tried this - did not stop the audio dropouts​

What Finally Worked:

After trying several things with no success, I finally found the solution by enabling Multicast Routing in my Asus XT8 Mesh System under the LAN > IPTV settings. Once I enabled Multicast Routing, the Play:3 speakers stopped cutting out, and the issue with intermittent audio dropouts was resolved.

Multicast Routing helps by ensuring that the data streams between devices are handled more efficiently, which is crucial for systems like Sonos that rely on constant, synchronized communication between speakers. After this adjustment, my Sonos system has been working flawlessly.

all of a sudden my System stopped working and i cant get i back again.

It wont connect to the Sonos network.

it all started when Alexa didn’t work. So I wanted to delete the skill and put it back in. Whenever I wanted to do sth in the Sonos app, it occurred in an error.

long story short:

did a factory reset in my beam, I can start the installation until the point it wants to update. Error 1000.

I changed nothing in my setup. Worked like this for 5 years.

there must have been some changes to the router firmware, I guess.

when trying the installation using a network from my router (FRITZ!Box) it works.

Last thing I wanna do is reset my complete home setup, just because of Sonos.

You made any other changes?

For this room setup is:

Beam wired to node (was running the Sonos net)

2 ikea rear speakers, sub mini

 

also tried it with the move, same problem.


If you do a google search for “Sonos error 100” you get results that would point you to post in this community. 
Short answer: use a PC or Mac and update your speakers 


Tried that too. Doesnt work.


I started getting cutouts after updating firmware from 24684 to 24688, I already had Multicast Routing Enabled though, so that hasn’t helped me. Eventually I have rolled back the firmware, now it’s rock solid again.


What i found out (so far), working now:

my Setup is:

Router from my isp. (192.168.2.0/24) (itself192.168.2.1)

Behind that my MeshWifi. (192.168.50.0/24) Fixed IP to the router 192.168.2.200 LAN 192.168.50.1

Although EVERYTHING else worked fine i had to give two gateways in dhcp.

WAN 192.168.2.1

And my Meshgateway in LAN 192.168.50.1


What i found out (so far), working now:

Why do you have two subnets (.2 and .50)? That will cause problems for Sonos unless everything is on the .50 subnet (all devices and phones).


Cause i have to separate my Blink cameras.

as i said everything is fine (again) now.
