Feature Request: Apple Shortcuts for the Sonos App

When will Sonos offer Apple Shortcut actions that allow users to stop music playback on Sonos when leaving the house or start playback from a specific music source or playlist when entering the house?

Shortcut tasks for the development team:

- Start Sonos playback

- Stop Sonos playback

- Select/play Sonos music source

- Select/play Sonos playlist

What is the current status of the review process, and when is the integration expected to go live?

That would require some automation like Home Assistant.

you can do this with the iOS app Soro.

Also this here:

Sonos has said they will offer iOS widgets in the future, no release date shared.

How can these be used in a creative way?  Not got into iOS shortcut creation but think this may offer some potential.

You can use them as widgets, so no need to unlock the iPhone screen to give the system certain commands.

How can these be used in a creative way?  Not got into iOS shortcut creation but think this may offer some potential.

For example, using a widget or Apple Shortcuts in a scene template (lock/home screen, etc.): Control multiple functions with a single tap (lights, music, door lock, etc.).

Or, like NFC tags: when the smartphone scans a tag, playback can be started/stopped, or a specific song/playlist can be played.

This is incredibly practical for everyday tasks, allowing recurring processes to be automated or simplified.

How can these be used in a creative way?

Get some cheap sticky label NFC tags (I use NFC215).

Play Favourites using NFC

Create some Sonos iOS shortcuts for your Sonos Favourites (currently ‘Play Content’ seems to only play favourites, would be nice to play a url directly, eg Apple Music @Corry P  - feature request?) create group and volume level.

Setup an Automation in iOS Shortcuts when it reads the serial # of the NFC tag, it plays the favourite.

Tap you phone next to NFC tag will group, set volume and play the favourite.

If the Sonos app were expanded to include a "Scenes" section where grouping, volume, music selection, sleep timer, etc., could be configured, and these settings could be accessed manually via button press, widget, or Apple Shortcuts — wow, just imagine the possibilities! I'm already looking forward to it!

I would like to see a command for Turn ON/OFF Shuffle-Repeat-Crossfade.  At this point I have to use Soro for those commands.

EDIT:  Apologize for the duplicate request.  When I created the topic for the feature request I got the message that it was a “Dulicate….” so I did tot think it would get posted.

No worries. I’m not sure why you saw that message, as I can find no evidence of a previous post (and I’m sure you know you didn’t write one 🤔😄). The thread did get posted though, and I shall report this message you saw as there have been some issues with the platform today.

I think I know what happened.  When I finished creating the Topic I touched the button “Create Topic”.  Unfortunately it got stuck in that process at which point I backed out to see if I could attempt “Create Topic” again.  I think that’s when the “Dulicates” message popped up.  Probably should have looked to see if the Topic was posted.  Obviously it was.  Not knowing this I replied with the same feature request in a similar topic.
