I want to connect iPhone directly to the beam via a lightning to hdmi cable? Is this possible? If I buy a lightning to hdmi and plug the hdmi into the Sonos beam will the iphone be able to control the Sonos beam and play music , 

my ultimate goal is to set the beam up in a car with a power inverter because my car speakers suck , is this a way ? Or hotspot but I need two devices right ?

No, the connection to the Beam is HDMI-ARC/eARC not HDMI, but why not just setup the Beam with a Mobile WiFi (router) device and Airplay to the Beam, instead rather than cabling the mobile to it?
