Greetings. I have a specific configuration question I would like to pose, hoping someone can help me determine which option is best. I am about to replace my current wired setup with Sonos - ideally this weekend. Here is what I am working with, followed by my specific question:TV: Panasonic TC-P50C2 (Viera, 2010ish)SONOS: Beam (Gen 2), Sub, 2 Play:1sMEDIA: Sony BluRay/DVD, S6700The TV is ancient. Will replace eventually but it’s working fine, so I am putting this off. I do a ton of streaming primarily, but I am still partially in love with physical media. Will use the BDP to play all formats, including music on CD. My GOAL is to achieve the best possible sound, given the above specs.QUESTION: I know I will have to go optical when joining the TV with the Playbar, no way around that. Would using an HDMI splitter yield better sound from media played on the BDP or should I just stick with routing all audio output through the TV? CDs/DVDs/BRs will be played through the Sony BDP.
I have the Beam (gen 2) and the Sun (gen 3). I use the Sonos app to get them connected using the 2.4g wifi. The sub has not been staying connected. Also, everytime I open the app it can not locate the system and I end up having to redo the whole process. The sub will work for a day or so and then lose connection again and I repeat the process.I bought a Boost hoping that would help but am having the same issue.I reset my router and made sure I had coverage. I have 1000mb service and average about 250mb wifi in the room with the system. What am missing? I love the sound of the system but am getting really frustrated. Any help appreciated if I am missing a step.Thank you.
I own a Sonos One and was saddened to learn that 1) I need to have a soundbar to use the Sonos One with a TV and 2) I need an analog input such as the the Play/Five/Connect/Port to use with my PC. Is the Sonos One Gen 2 compatible with any of the Sonos Gen 1 soundbars?
A few months ago, there was a discussion about the impossibility to rename the HDMI input for Beam and Arc. Sonos staff argued as follows:[Line in (with multiple source name) and HDMI (always named ‘TV’)] are treated differently for good, technical reasons and I would not expect this to change.Ironically, this reply ended with the following quote:"Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen." - Albert Einstein I have a Beam (gen. 2) connected to my desktop computer, which I use as the computer's speaker system and to stream music from YouTube Music. There is no tv in this room whatsoever. My family members find it rather confusing that they cannot select the audio source ‘Computer’ or something similar, but ‘TV'. This makes no sense at all. As Albert Einstein once said, common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen. Please don't use prejudice - Sonos’ “common sense” doesn't make any sense at all in my use case. Please add the ability to
I have a Sony tv KE48A9 which is connected to my Sonos Arc via the (only) eArc connection on the tv.How should I connect my Apple TV 4K to be able to have Dolby Atmos via the Sonos Arc.Begore I purchase the new Apple TV 4K’ just want to be sure that it could work.many feedback or tips are welcome !
I cannot get our PlayBar to connect to the our 2 Play:1’s for surrounds. This is the only thing we cannot get working. After doing some research I see that the PlayBar uses 5 ghz band to setup the surround sounds, I think this is my problem. We moved into an apartment complex that doesn’t allow any internet connections inside of the apartments. I don’t have a router (in my apartment) and I don’t have any internet plan with any company. Instead the apartment complex turns their fiber connection into a wifi connection that is available all over the apartment building complex. I have my own password for both the 2.4 ghz and the 5.0 ghz bands. But, I’m pretty sure that the two different bands are actually two different connections with the way they have it set up but I could be wrong on this. The band names are recognized as different networks and are named separately2.4 Band SSID is OasisResident2.4 Band SSID is OasisResident_5ghzWhat I Have TriedFactory reset everything at this point mult
Hello everyone, I need the specialists fo this forum I have a Sonos Arc + TV LG OLEDG1, when I watch a series (with Dolby Atmos sound) on Netflix or Amazon Prime I have “Dolby Atmos” on the Arc, everything is fine but when I play an MKV file (via integrated LG player or via Plex) things go bad, 2 cases:- if the sound is encoding in "EAC3 Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos" it’s ok I have “Dolby Atmos” on the Arc soundbar (the Sonos app show me “Dolby Atmos” on the screen).- if the sound is encoding in "MLP FBA Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos" it’s not ok I have "Dolby 5.1 multichannel PCM" which is displayed on the Sonos app (see screenshot) and not Dolby Atmos as in all other cases.Any idea of this problem?Thank you and sorry for my english Nicolas
Hello,is the hdmi cable included with sonos beam gen2 an hdmi 2.1 cable?Excuse me if i sound wierd but judging from my other hdmi 2.1 cables which are very thick braided cables, seeing how flexible and thin is the hdmi of sonos beam gen2 make me think this is an hdmi 2.0 cable. I have this concern because very rarely my sonos beam gen2 loses the sound output of my pc. I have an lg cx oled as a pc monitor and i have set the audio to passthrough and enabled earc so all the settings are correct. Is it possible that this cable doesnt have enough bandwith to transfer the audio? Thanks a lot.
Hello.I have Sony KD-55XE8505 and Sonos Beam gen1. It works fine, when I play music from Spotify and after turning on my TV, the sound imminently switches automatically without any problem. But very often when I turn on my TV, the TV starts to use internal speakers. (it looks like first used per day). And also in TV settings selected "internal speakers" (previous session was with Sonos and "sound system" in settings), when I change it to "sound system" - sound disappears. The remote control can change volume value but there is no sound. Return to "internal speakers" in settings returns sound to internal speakers. But if I disconnect and connect Sonos HDMI cable, sound imminently starts working on Beam. Not so cool every time reconnect cable :( Sonos Beam and TV and Wi-Fi router all the time plug to power. (TV with Android and seems to me never turn off, just sleep mode.) Maybe someone has advice, how I can fix this problem? Thank you.
Hi all, I am a big Sonos user - several pieces - but gutted today that for some strange reason, my sub has completely ‘died’? There is no power lights showing. It’s clearly not showing on my system. I have moved to different power sockets, checked the cable is properly plugged in but it simply seems to have stopped working, actually just stopped turning on? I’ve had this sub for about 2 years, an expensive purchase to suddenly fail on its own accord. any ideas? Am I missing something obvious….before I contact Sonos etc. s
I have a Play:1 stereo pair that has stopped working when a new One SL is powered on and I’m playing to “everywhere.” When I do this, the Sonos app on all devices reports that the stereo pair is playing, but there is no audio on the stereo pair. While music is playing to all other speakers, I can play different music to the stereo pair, but I cannot play the same music everywhere unless I unpair the two speakers. if I unpair the two speakers, they work fine. This problem goes away for a while if I power down the SL, get music started everywhere, then power up the SL. When I perform this process, music stops at all speakers and the app loses contact with the Sonos cluster for a while before I can get music going. The pair works for a few hours after I do this.I have filed diagnostic report 1008105106 because wow, fascinating….
When had whole system set up, for some reason this Arc wouldnt recognize the two symfonisk (nor would they recognize each other as possible stereo pairs).. so i started totally fresh factory restart, only these three speakers, still nothing, and i can’t figure it out. I do have a unifi set up which i’ve read has issues, but I have an arc with two symfonisk bookshelf in another room and it works fine. Only thing weird I notice is in my routers client list i see the frame speaker called a Play 5, and the bookshelf shows as an Ikea manufacturer rather than Sonos. is there something beyond a factory reset? Thanks
Hi, I see this issue have been around a while but I guess it keeps happening. I just purchased the arc, sub and two Sonos SL and I was listening to music through Spotify. I adjusted the volume down and turned the screen of and put my phone in my pocket. The volume increased fast and reached 100% within a few seconds. Both me and my daughter had a scare (however, she cried more than me). Now, I capped the volume seeing as I want my kid to grow up being able to hear But it seems as using the spotify-app is not entirely stable. Had the same problem once again today. Speakers are up to date, Sonos and Spotify as well. Running ios 15.
HI al,First time poster, I have reviewed similar posts but couldn’t see a clear answer.I’ve recently changed our Wi-Fi provider/network but can’t connect my Beam to the new network. On the Sonos S2 app everything is now greyed out, despite being logged in. There’s no prompt to help me change to the new network, which the official Sonos page says will appear.I’ve been going round in circles looking at the guidance on the Sonos site which isn’t helping. The Sonos is wall mounted so I can’t easily connect cables which I’ve seen mentioned as a solution (seems rubbish in any case to have to connect ethernet cables just to connect to a new Wi-Fi network?!)Have to say it’s really frustrating - the most expensive/sophisticated device in the house is the only one connecting to a new Wi-Fi network has been problematic for. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.Alex
Had a network of 2 x Sonos 1 SL connected via wifi to my Apple TV which is streaming shows and music played on my Samsung TV. Since I added my Sonos Arc, there is no sound when I stream Kayo or try to listen to Spotify. Everything else is ok (Apple TV and music, Netflix, Amazon prime etc) just cannot get any sound whatsoever despite changing the sound settings on Apple TV to stereo (not using Dolby) as advised on previous threads.I then reset my Apple TV (HDMI cables etc) and updated all apps and Kayo and Spotify worked initially but the next day it’s gone back to no sound. Weird and annoying. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.
Since the end of December I have acquired the Sonos Arc, Sub Gen 3 and 2 one SLs. Very happy with the sound quality overall! Sounds just a bit boomier (bass on -3 and sound sub a bit lower) than my previous separate Jamo speakers, Klipsch 100sw sub and Yamaha receiver. But what an incredibly good soundstage and just solid sound. A great added value for TV, Series and Movies. I am already a fan. Only problem: This runs to my Sony XE9005 TV which only supports HDMI-ARC. The Sony native apps Netflix, Disney+ and youtube work well (including Atmos over DD+) - no to little audio delay - maximum 10-30ms, almost imperceptible. The connected Apple TV 4k (HDMI to Sony), on the other hand... This causes huge lip sync issues (Infuse, Netflix, Disney+) with a typical audio delay of 100-250ms. After hours and hours of troubleshooting and tweaking all possible settings, cables, etc, I've solved it for now by adjusting the audio delay via the alternative media player app MrMC. Depending on the codecs
I started to watch Disney+ lastnight and realized that my arc was showing stereo pcm and not dolby atmos like it usually does when I watch marvel movies.i started the eternals lastnight and dolby atmos is supported.i thought it was maybe a Disney+ problem but I check on Apple TV and Netflix the same problem.i had my arc for 5 months now it this just happened lastnight.what could the problem be?
Hello, My Sonos Playbase stopped working (very frequent issues when starting a playlist from PC and phone). I reset it and tried to create a new system and add it without success. The setup procedures fails each time when the app tries to identify the Playbase with the chime pin: either the sound will not be emitted by the Playbase, or it will start for 0.3 second and then stop.I tried different things and all failed:Reset and then direct connection to the router via ethernet and setup via Android app: fails at chime pin step Reset and then direct connection to the router via ethernet and setup via iPhone app: fails at chime pin step Reset and then wifi connection and setup via Android app: fails when trying to connect to the temp wifi Reset and then wifi connection and setup via iPhone app: fails when trying to connect to the temp wifi I tried to reset then shut down then restart: same behaviour I also tried to do that before or after adding my 2 Play:1 to the system. Same behaviour.

Hi. Yesterday I bought a Sonos Arc sound bar and I am very happy with the sound quality. It is the best sound that I have heard on a sound bar to date.I have a Panasonic TV that supports eARC and sometimes the audio is muted when I change TV channels and I have to go into my TV settings and change the HDMI Audio Format settings. Does anyone know the best setting for my TV out of:Auto (default)PCMPass ThroughDolby Audio (this is the setting I use most of the time) I also have the Dolby Atmos setting switched on in the TV settings. Can anyone please advise? Thanks.
I have had some Spotify-connect issues since I replaced my old router last week. I’ve never experienced any issues previously. I can easliy use Spotify via the Sonos app however i’m not able to use Spotify directly (using my Sonos system obviously, working just fine on iPhone). What I’ve done so far:Router restart/reboot serveral times Deleting both Sonos & Spotify app Removed Spotify via the Sonos app Deleted and adding my entire Sonos system to the Sonos appWhen I plug out the powercable on my router I’m lucky to find my Sonos devices. The next day it’s all gone again What to do?? Do I really need to buy the Sonos Boost? Regards
