Amp Multi issues

Is anyone else having issues with amp multi being able to join other Sonos speakers in different zones? If I am able to get any of the amp multi channels to join other Sonos speakers it, or they, will eventually drop.

What did Sonos Support say, or your installer, when you called in to discuss it?

I’m afraid I don’t have one to judge or test with, but it sure sounds like wifi interference to me, but I’m just guessing.

Your installer should be working to sort that out for you, it sounds like they did not properly configure your network.

I haven’t noticed drops. One mild annoyance is that if I add another player to a Group, the Group will sometimes stop playing the track. At other times the newly added Group member will simply join the currently playing track. If play stops I need to touch Play to restart the track.

I agree that your issue is likely network related.

Is this a professional wireless installation, such as a restaurant? If so, is the issue more likely to occur when the restaurant is filled with guests?

Thank you for the responses.

The installer has been working with Sonos to configure the network to work out what they feel are network issues but nothing has worked so far and it’s been over a month with multiple trips and wifi reconfigurations.

We have an ASUS GTX AXE16000 with three remote nodes to cover the house. The installer said he has the best luck with Eero router networks. I don’t want to drop another $1,200 into this system without confidence it will solve the problem.

Is the Amp Multi in a rack? If so, Ethernet is recommended.

It’s not in a rack but is connected to router with ethernet cable supplied by installer

I assume you can group OK on zones on Amp Multi. Are you joining Amp Multi to a wireless speaker, or wireless speaker to Amp Multi? As the Amp Multi has wired connection, try starting music on the Amp Multi, and then add another room/wireless speaker to the group.

Is the ASUS a new addition, along with the AMP MULTI? There is a known potential issue and a fix for ASUS routers.

I use an Asus WiFi 7 AiMesh using Asus GT BE98 Pro with RT BE96U x 2 and  ZenWiFi BD5 x1 as nodes. All are connected via Ethernet backhaul.

All bands use the same SSID  and password. Using one of the bands as a backhaul can be iffy.

Basic for all networks is to have Airtime fairness and UPnP turned off. Also, Asus does not play well with 3rd party devices used as nodes in a Mesh network.

Does your network mimic any of the above? If not what are the differences.

FYI…I don’t have an Amp Multi but my Sonos consists of 32 units which is max number for a single Sonos system.

EDIT

This not the best answer as I tapped it by mistake looking for the edit button on my iPhone. It appears that changes have been made for certain features as to thier location. It seems at least for iOS editing and other functions are hidden behind 3 vertical dots in the upper right.
