I have added a Beam gen 2 to my home. I was setting up the ring doorbell announcement to all speakers in the Alexa app and go into the Ring Doorbell settings but it is not showing the Beam in the announcement device list. All my other speakers - echo shows and various other Sonos devices are listed. I have checked everything I can think of, including that the Beam in set enabled for communication and announcements in the Alexa app. Disabling / reenabling the Sonos Alexa skill / Removing all Sonos devices and readding.
I noticed that for many albums (especially anything somewhat popular, ie. non children's music), when I use Apple Music (with Alexa/Sonos Voice), I end up with no way to manage the playlist, I cannot repeat or decide which song to play next. I just have an “end session” button if I go to the Sonos playlist. When using Youtube Music I don’t have this issue, so I guess this is an intentional limitation of Apple Music?Backstory: I have Youtube Premium because I don’t want adds on Youtube. But it seems like Sonos isn’t prioritizing Google given its law suit. A while ago Google Assistant “announce” stopped working. I also wanted to be able to use Sonos Voice, so I switched to Sonos Voice + Alexa. But neither supports Youtube Music. As a result I started a trial of Apple Music but so far I am quite disappointed. Apple Music + Alexa also seems less good when it comes to dealing with music requests from my child (in German). I guess I might give Amazon Music a try.
I can create a shopping list using the sonos alexa. However, it does not appear on my samsung android phone alexa. Alexa on phone connects with sonos just fine. Shopping list on phone Alexa is a separate list. Is there a way to be able to verbally create a shopping list on the sonos and have it appear on my phone when I take it shopping?
Hello all,I have a Sonos system with multiple speakers that was originally set in the UK.I have now moved to Spain and tried to control again my speakers through Alexa but it’s been impossible to do so: Alexa sees I have Sonos speakers, suggest to me that I should enable them but then I get the message “You are not elegible to enable this skill due to geographical restrictions.”Would someone be able to help?
Anyone having issues with explicit music randomly playing? This has happened to us 5 times now a few of which with kids and family over. When I say explicit I don't mean just any music with some explicit language. I mean meth, cocaine, murder, f*#king h03s, mentioned in the first 15 seconds of the song… Unacceptable for this to happen multiple times with no explanation from Sonos.
I have a Sonos Beam Gen 2 connected to my Samsung TV via e-ARC. Neither the TV nor the Sonos Beam have Alexa enabled. None the less, when I say “Alexa” (talking to my Amazon Echo) the Beam lowers its volume. This does not happen when I use the TV without the Beam connected (the volume remains constant). Is this a feature of the Beam? Can it be disabled (I would prefer that the volume remain consistent)? Oddly, I do not have this issue with my Sonos Arc (also connected via e-ARC to an LG TV).
My house is a mix of beams and I also have a sonos one and play5. I use Alexa on only one device, the Sonos one, in the garage. I wanted to replace my Amazon echo studio in the kitchen with a play5 so I could airplay, but my wife is so used to the studio I thought “connect a dot to it, and it will be like the studio.” So far, not so much. The dot is hard wired to the play5. I want to just be able to say, “Alexa, play blah on Spotify” and have it work. No sound comes out. Not out of the echo, nor out of the play5. If I unplug the echo, it comes out of its own speaker, but it’s not playing where I want it to. I feel stupid. Hopefully someone has some wisdom for me. I just want my music, and AirPlay.
I am really hoping someone can help me because I am at my wits end in trying to make the Sonos Beam and Sonos Roam work with Alexa household account, when you try and change account it get “ sorry I’m not able to switch account at the moment”. I have one 1x Sonos Move, 2 Sonos Beams, 1 Sonos Roam, 2x Sonos one. The Sonos One was set up with the Alexa voice assistant in line with best practices and with our household account, set up with linked profiles so that we can link to Spotify accounts, this works perfectly fine in saying Alexa switch account. Both the Sonos ones work absolutely fine, the Sonos move also works absolutely fine, however tI hav two Sonos Beams and the Sonos Roam whenever you ask it to change account it says ‘sorry im not able to switch account at the moment”. Before I get the standard cut and paste of disabling skill, relinking ect, I have spent the best part of three days getting right down to packet level inspections, every speaker has been deleted off both
After moving house and setting up my speaker again six months ago I lost the ability to ask Alexa to play BBC sounds. I have tried using Alexa, Google and Sonos voice assistants but nothing works. I'm currently using Google which always defaults to try and play it through Tune In radio which doesn't work with the app on my phone and still tries to use it even with the app uninstalled on my phone! It's incredibly frustrating as this was all I really used the speaker for.
Pretty sure that this isn’t a fault with my Sonos kit, but hoping others may have had a similar issue and know how to fix it. I have two Echo Dots. One in the lounge and one in my bedroom. The lounge Dot works in conjunction with my Sonos PlayBase, which is paired with 2 Sonos One SLs. In my lounge, if I ask Alexa to play BBC Radio 2, she duly obliges and the music is played via the Sonos speakers. If I do the same thing in my bedroom, where the Dot works with a single Sonos One SL, Alexa plays Radio 2, but from the Dot speaker. What’s more, if I specifically ask her to play it on the bedroom speaker, she refuses. I’ve heard that this may be a licensing issue, but that doesn’t explain why it works as desired in the lounge. I’ve double checked all the settings, and they are the same on both Dots and all the speakers. Moderator edit: Added that “Ones” are in fact “One SLs”
My Beam Gen 2 cannot seem to process more than one command without staying quiet for a while…If I ask it to turn on the tv it does then ask it to turn on the lights it does but it will not accept an immediate third command and stays quiet for some time….then the sound comes back to normal and the beam is ready to accept a new command. Anyone else have this issue
I cannot get Spotify to work on either my Sonus one or beam. Recently updated my router and connected both items and added Alexa. Alexa speaks and actions my request but nothing plays. Has anyone experience this and know how to fix. They both worked fine before. On the flip side, Google assistant works fine. So confusing please help.
Hi there. sorry this is a question you probably always here and fed up of answering but…. How do I get Alexa on my Sonos 5 ? Do I need to add a Alexa dot ( or echo or something in that range) and is it as simple as plug it in the back of the 5 and obviously download the app to my iPhone. thanks
Hi, This is beginning to be a familiar story, please bear with me.So, there seems to be a clear distinction between the following events. When using an Amazon Dot, BBC sounds and station selection works. i.e. “Alexa, please ask BBC sounds to play Radio 2” The usual BBC sound bite plays and asks me for the service I require. I ask for BBC Radio 2 and it plays. When performing the same procedure with an Alexa enabled Sonos Play1, The BBC sound bite plays OK, but after saying “Play BBC Radio 2”, Alexa responds with “Playing BBC Radio 2” and then nothing. However, maybe more importantly, the light on the Play1 seems to go dimmer, indicating that it is no longer communicating and has ‘dropped out’. This may be a clue considering different servers to BBC sounds?I appreciate that this topic seems to have been thrashed but I’m sure I’m not the only one with this existing issue. Neither the tech lads can sort this out or any of the proposed solutions found here have worked. I have tried endl
I have mostly Amazon Echo devices in my house, with the exception of two Sonos One speakers working as a stereo pair in my living room. Every Echo speaker is in an Alexa group “Everywhere” so I can play music “everywhere” in my house.Except the Sonos One speakers aren’t listed as available for the speaker group. I’ve heard that it’s the fault of Amazon for not allowing third-party speakers to be integrated into speaker groups in Alexa. I’ve also heard that it’s Sonos integration that’s to blame and that there are other third party speakers that can be part of a speaker group. Is there a solution? And if so, how do I get my Sonos One speaker pair onto my “everywhere” group? If not, what’s the update, Sonos? What would be involved for your speakers to be available for speaker groups through the Alexa app?
