iOS app and Location setting ... but only on certain wifi
Hello all,I have been scratching my head for days setting up my Sonos Play:1 speaker to be accessible across VLANs on my home network. Tonight, I seem to have stumbled on a strange fix: turning off the app’s access to Location data in the iOS settings. My network is roughly setup like this:multicast VLAN + 2.4GHz wifi which contains Sonos and AppleTV guest VLAN + 2.4GHz wifi trusted VLAN + 5GHz wifiWith this setup I was able to control Sonos from the guest network, so I was pretty confident that my VLAN configuration was setup properly. But, strangely I was unable to control Sonos from my trusted network.I finally decided to configure my trusted wifi to use 2.4GHz and things worked! This made me decide to plug my Play:1 in via ethernet. I figured this would avoid any issues with wifi since it would be accessible on the network over the wire. However, the problem persisted; the app would work fine on the Guest network, but it would not work on the Trusted network at 5GHz.I found mysel
Sonos Off Shore support...
I’m an authorized Sonos dealer. Installed a system 6 months ago in a cabin 100 miles from my office, configured system with S2 on my Android tablet, system working fine when I last left it. Customer does not use cabin during winter.I wanted to know how to completely delete the current Android configuration created with my company credentials and start with a clean install on customer’s iPad. Sonos agent wasn’t sure how deleting configuration would affect Sonos upgrades or any other effects. As another option, I had questions on transferring the system to customers account that’s to be created next week on their iPad. Needed to know if a 1 - Boost, 3 - Amp configuration created on a current Android tablet to an iPad will transfer without a complications. I’d prefer to delete and start from scratch but need a possible back up.Complete frustration with call - escalated and told best they could do is email transfer instructions (Android to Android?) just before call dropped. Both conve
Connecting Vinyl Player to Sonos Beam with Sonos Port
Hi,I’m looking to connect a record player (which has a built-in preamp) to my Sonos Beam and One SL’s. I heard that I could purchase a Sonos Port and connect the Port to my Beam via Wi-Fi to be able to play records over my sound system. Would this work?
Issues connecting to S2 with S1 on the same network
I am running a Play 5 and OldConnect with S1, and a bunch of Ones, Play 1s, 3s and 5s Gen2, and Amp with S2.Time to time, I cannot connect to S2. It keeps me the option to connect to S1. After a couple of times restarting the App I can connect to S2. Some other times, I have disconnected the S1 device/s to able to connect. Also, after a router reboot, most of the time I have to do disconnect the S1 devices to able to connect to S2. I have never had issues connecting to S1. Also I have tried to connect using ethernet (PC), Wireless 2.4 and 5. Using Windows 10, 11, Samsung S20, and Iphone 13. Same issues in all of them.Network configuration:Asus Rt-AX89XS1 configurationPlay 5 wired connected to routerS2 Configuration:One wired to router, even it is configured for wireless. I had a Boost wired but it game more issues than the One. ATM, the Boost is not connected. All S2 Sonos devices are configured as wireless WM 1. I did tried configured as wired WM 0 with the same effect. Thanks in ad
Sonos port to an HDMI soundbar
I just bought a new Sonos Q70 tv. Currently I have the TV and a Sonos port connected through an old receiver. I want to take advantage of Dolby ATMOS in that room anf have decided to go with a high end sound bar. My first choice is the Samsung HW-Q950A, but it only has HDMI and optical inputs. Alas, the port only has RCA and digital Coax outputs. Is there any way to get the Poert to work with this soundbar.I considered the Sonos Arc but I will need two Ones and a Sub to get similar performance. That will run $700 more.
Automatic Regrouping on Restart
Hi,I have 19x Sonos Play 1, - and music playing throughout the house. However, when they are not playing and I am sleeping they still consume 3.7W each, (~70W combined) to no use at all. They are therefore configured to all by on the same electrical circuit on which I have a kill switch, so that they all go offline. This was originally thought of as a way to kills my teenage kids playing music too late or just when we left the house for a few days. But now it seems silly/lack of respect for finite resources, not to use this each night when I know they will not play. However, - I then run into the regrouping issue. Before I can start playing music, manually or automatically, - I need to fiddle with the Sonos App to regroup all the speakers. A feature, where on restart a speaker goes back into its default group would be great. This allows greater convenience, and allows me and others to turn the whole thing off at night and save electricity - for our individual and collective benefit. I
Licensing Question - Business
Excuse my naivete, but still learning the Sonos system. Confused on licensing with media services. We have several groups of rooms. Does each group require a separate license? For instance, in Soundtrack Player (business version of Spotify) you license each zone. Does a zone correspond to a room in Sonos?
Can't create new custom SD for SONOS
I’m a software developer creating a service for SONOS. I used to be able to use the form at http://:1400/customsd.htm to add my test service to the device, but it no longer works (although the form tells me “Success!” when I submit it). Is there still a way to do this? I’ve factory-reset the SONOS several times and uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
Struggling to point music on a USB drive attached to my AirPort Extreme to my Sonos app
I am struggling placing the correct network path string from my MAC into the music library (in the Sonos wizard) to USB drive attached to my AirPort Extreme. The string I am using is as follows copied from the location in the network. afp:// AirPort Extreme._afpovertcp._tcp.local/Music/MusicI have successfully added the same disk and library when the USB Drive is connected directly to my Mac .
3 Total Speakers to Sonos Amp
I currently have 2 outdoor speaker (6 ohm) connected to my Amp. I am looking to add one more speaker— for a total of 3 speakers— to the setup. My questions are this: is this possible? If so what ohm would the 3rd speaker need to be and what type of wiring should I do? Thanks!!
send front channels of 5.1 and/or 2.0 signal to symfonisk per upnp?
This is a bit of a complicated scenario, but in essence I am wondering if it is possible toextract the front left and right channels of an HDMI stereo or surround input stream send them to 2 Symfonisk speakers (front left/right) that are connected as UPnP renderersI would then try to deal with the rest of the signal in another way; eventually also UPnP or wired off a soundcard… thank you Background: I very much like the Symfonisk panels, but they cannot be configured as front left/rights in a surround setup for some reason, so I am returning the rest of the Sonos stuff (Beam2 and sub)
Turntable / TV / AMP into 3rd Party architectural speakers?
I’m designing a new great room and want to accomplish a couple of things:I want to have my turntable setup to play through my SONOS system I’m mounting a TV but don’t want to put my Beam or Arc under it for aesthetic reasons so am thinking of connecting the TV to 2 Sonance wall speakersAm I able to use an AMP to connect my TV and turntable into 2 Sonance wall speakers that would act as the speakers for the TV when it’s on, and the turntable when it’s on?Lastly, I would like to setup 2 outdoor Sonance but am not sure if I could wire them back to the TV/Turntable AMP.Side Note: currently we have a BEAM, MOVE, and 2 SONOS 1, so I’m assuming once I setup the AMP side of things, it can all integrate? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Ruckus H320 vs. TP-Link EAP235
HiAfter numerous attempts at Mesh Wi-Fi in my house I am finally giving in to hardwiring 5 access points in the hope that this will solve the remaining few issues I have with Sonos.I have been recommended these 2 units - Ruckus H320 and TP-Link EAP235.Ignoring price point, please can anyone share their experience of either or both in a Sonos / Wi-Fi context? The house is ~4,000 sq.ft. and has a significant ground floor extension perpendicular the the main house.Typically Sonos works fine right up until I deploy most of the downstairs speakers (13 of 17 speakers in the house) for gatherings and then multicast flooding kicks in and dropouts occur. The only other problem is with a stereo pair of Roams - the RH speaker refuses to switch on form an alarm though simply pressing the volume up button immediately brings it to life. Staring any other way always works for both speakers. Thanks in advance.KR Bob
Need help with Untangle firewall compatibilty + Sonos Beam Gen 2
As above.I am not sure if anybody here use Untangle firewall but there seems to be a problem with Multicast traffic from the Beam. I can see the Beam issued with my assigned static IP but other than that, it doesnt to be able to setup properly.Any ideas to solve it?
Finally got Sonos to recognize new playlists from my Apple Music Library.
Note the information below is current as of 2/13/23 for MacOS Ventura 13.1. Lord knows what changes the winds of times and whims of Apple Software Engineers will bring. So like many folks in this forum, I’ve been frustrated by the Sonos Library recently refusing to recognize new playlists. I periodically copy my Apple Music library and related files (the whole darn …/Music folder) to a shared drive that Sonos has access to. Doing an index from the Sonos app picks up new music, but recently tends not to recognize new playlists even with repeated indexes, even deleting and recopying the music library, or sacrificing a chicken under a new moon, the whole drill. No love on new playlists. After a bit of digging around I think I know what happened and how to fix it. So in the old days of iTunes, Apple would automatically generate and keep up to date a file called iTunes Music Library.xml, stored in …/Music/Itunes/. Sonos indexing apparently uses that file to do its magic. Cue dar
Garden Room Network Options
I am about to build a garden room remote from my main house. I will run 2 Cat6 cables from the house router to the room (as a contingency) but am wondering if I could connect one directly to my new Sonos amp while using the second cable to connect directly to a wireless access point to establish my wi-fi. Any downsides to this and any recommendations for a new access point would be appreciated. I assume if one of the Cat6 cables fail in the future that I could use a simple ethernet switch upstream of both the access point and Sonos Amp?
