So after some research it seems like if you have a few options if you plan to use a projector with sonos. I just want to make sure I understand the options. It seems like this is a popular question and hopefully this can be a good summary to the question. (sorry for the poor use of terms here, I am no A/V expert).

The best case would be to have an Optical Audio out from the projector. You then connect your "data output device" i.e. tv box aka Sky, comcast, ATT, dvd player etc, to the projector. Then you run an toslink (optical audio cable) from the projector to the playbar (yes this requires a long cable) to the front of the room. With this setup there is no delay in audio (lipsync effect)
If your projector does not have an optical Out then but your "data output device" does then you can run the optical cable from the "data output device" to the playbar. This may actually reduce your cord length if you keep this device at the front of the room. If I understand corre
I use Spotify and Google Music through Sonos. No local media. I assume this is the way everyone is going or will be going. When playing on Sonos you get the option to Thumbs Up/Down a song as it's playing and it then says that will affect recommendations. But how will it? Is that solely for Sonos and local media or does it affect your Spotify/Google Music recommendations? I thumbed up a song through Sonos thinking it might mirror the thumbs up in Google Music but it didn't. So what did it do? Am I right in thinking nothing at all? If it essentially does nothing for streaming users then can it be changed so a thumbs up/down in Sonos will mirror on the streaming service?
Using AEON-45200 Universal Cantilever Mount, with AEON-90200 Sound Bar Bracket to attach Sonos Playbar. AEON instructions (yes I admit to reading instructions) state to attach sound bar to bracket with screws provided by sound bar manufacturer. There were no screws with PlayBar and it appears that the PlayBar backs not designed for screws. ++ Do I need to purchase the Playbar Wall Mount Kit tp attach PlayBar to Aeon sound bar bracket ? ++ Thanks Joe
Has anyone had success using a Sonos system with multiple components in a large, corporate-type network? I work in an office of about 100 people with a wired & wifi network throughout the building. I do consultations in 3 different rooms during the day and would like to have a Play:1 unit in each room to stream music or radio while clients are waiting for me. Ideally I would like to do this in Party Mode, so that each Play:1 unit is playing the same content in a different room, then when I come to the room I can "pause" that Play:1, and "unpause" when I leave so it resumes playing. For my setup I would like to wire a Boost to an ethernet port, and have the Play:1 systems stream wirelessly through the hard-wired Boost (they are close enough that the wireless will be strong). My question is: how should the corporate network be configured to allow the Sonos system to stream Spotify, Pandora, etc? The network is highly restricted to prevent everyone watching YouTube, stre
I am looking at the play 5 system as a basis for a Fitness Sound System for a Fitness Studio of about 1800 square feet. My question is if can the system both play music and also allow the instructor to speak through a wireless microphone system at the same time with the music still playing or is that even possible. Do I need a separate Sonos system for the wireless microphone.
Hi, this topic and question has been asked before and is a wanted request for the users or potential users of a Sonos connect. We want to have the possibility to trigger an external amplifier connected to the Sonos connect from standby to ON as well as back to standby then not playingi music so we dont have to run the amp 24/7. Is this function now in the plans for future development and to be released in the near future? Software solution or new hardware (new connect). A new hardware with a 12v trigger seem to be a simple 2015 upgrade? :)
I think it would be super bad ass if you could set a geofence on your iphone using the sonos app so that you could automatically start music playing as you connect to your wifi pulling into driveway. You could either resume what you were playing when you left and paused it, or a selected playlist. This would be a great marketing point too, as it is very cool.
I listen to podcast a lot and there's one function built in to the iOS Podcast app that I miss a lot when I use the SONOS, which is the 15 sec skip forward/backward. This is useful when you missed something or when you want to skip an ad. Possible to add this in?
Hi, Today happened what I dreaded for some time. I was forced to update my Sonos systems and now both my iPad 1 tablets will not work with Sonos anymore. We have them wall-mounted so we can control music all over the place. I am very disappointed to say the least. We had planned to buy some more Sonos systems but the announcement at the beginning of this year stopped us. I hate companies that don't give me control over what is mine. Sonos nor Apple own the gear at my home, I do. Paul
Power over Ethernet is great for lower powered equipment installed in remote locations. Perfect for IP cameras, WiFi hotspots, etc but I got to thinking, couldn't a Play 1 POE be made? The current standard "802.11at" POE+ currently supports 25.5W of power which I believe is enough to power a Play 1 even at full volume? Whilst a POE version wouldn't appeal to everyone, the same body could be used but in removing the AC/DC converter it could be made lighter and potentially cheaper? I have ethernet running all around my home and could make great use of POE Play 1, there are a few places I'd love to put some Play 1 but it would mean running ugly power leads or paying a high premium for an electrician to run hidden power cabling to new ugly sockets. The benefit of CAT 5 is that pretty much anybody can buy and install it and since POE is low voltage most countries don't require a qualified electrician to install. You've also go the benefit that it's connected to ethernet rather tha
Everything used to work perfectly….Then it all stopped working…so, started by rebooting my router. I then hard-wired ZP80 and ZP100 via Ethernet to get them to connect. SUCCESS! I can now control them both on my WiFi network from my iPad SONOS app. That's all good! HOWEVER, I cannot get the CR100 to associate with the ZP80 or the ZP100. How can I get the CR100 to re-join the party? I've tried putting both ZP80 and ZP100 into the paring mode (pressing MUTE and VOL-UP)…and they both blink amber…but the CR100 just stares back at me, and eventually times-out. When it times out, after a few minutes, it says that no SONOS components are present, but I know better…and so does my iPad, which has no problem controlling both units. I've also tried resetting the CP100 by pressing the following sequence: <left soft button> <middle soft button> <mute button> <middle soft button> <back button>[/i
I too have be having the issue of my older TV not passing Dolby Digital 5.1 to my Playbar. For reference I have the following components: Sources: Dish receiver VIP622 PlayStation 3 Apple TV (2nd Gen) Wii Connection to the TV, in order: Source from above Kinivo 501BN 5 port HDMI switch Monoprice HDBaseT wall plate extender TV: LG 60PC1D With the above setup I was not able to get a DD5.1 signal to the Playbar using any of the sources, but when using the internal tuner in the TV the digital signal was passed to the TV. Just like many other people on this forum I have found this to be really frustrating but I feel that I have finally found a solution. I added the following box just before the HDMI input into the TV. From Amazon: ViewHD Premium HDMI to HDMI + Audio (SPDIF + RAC L/R) Audio Extractor This box essentially has an HDMI in and HDMI out along with an optical output. On the side of the box there is a switch that allows you to configure the
Hi could anyone help me with choosing a good optical switch to work with my playbar as so i can get the best out of my sky box,ps4,xbox one and apple tv as i believe I'm not getting the best out of my sons set up(playbar,sub,2xplay 1s)when the optical is connected to my tv and not the actual devices themselves. any ideas would be great.
I have just installed a new computer. Moved my music to a new drive. Upon adding the folder to my Sonos controller on the PC I have a "Updating Music Library - Please Wait" message. It's been stuck there for a few hours now. I am on a windows 8.1 desktop computer.
Got really excited when I saw support for multiple..... thinking it would be music libraries. But no, the system still can't handle multiple users / music libraries, and STILL doesn't search Contributing Artists (unlike Andronos on Android and SonoPad / Sonophone on iPad and iPhone. C'mob Sonos, get it sorted. Really and truthfully, how hard can it be?
Hello, I just got my first Sonos, play 5, really enjoying it. I didn't buy the bridge and have it connected in wireless mode to my AP. I had to change the configuration to support b/g. Is there a plan to support 802.11n/ac? In order to support n or ac, I am wondering if it will be a different hardware or another firmware/software update? TIA
