Sonos Arc + Samsung Q90T | Sound Cutting Out | Anyone else?
So I recently picked up the Sonos Arc + Sub and a Samsung Q90T TV (which has HDMI 2.1/eArc) and I am experiencing the sound cutting out periodically. Some details: Only devices I can test with are an Xbox One S, Xbox One X and the built-in Samsung TV Apps Sonos, Xboxes and Saumsung are properly set to have Dolby Atmos I have experienced sound cutting out on both Atmos and 5.1 I have experienced sound cutting out from both the Xboxes as well as the built-in Samsung TV Apps (only tested the Netflix app) . . . so I know the Xboxes aren't the issue At times the sound cuts out very infrequently (minutes apart) and other times about every 10 to 20 seconds and there is no discernible pattern on what changes this. There is a sound setting on the TV showing ‘sound output’ that should should normally say ‘Receiver(HDMI-eARC)’ when you have the ‘HDMI eARC Mode’ set to ‘auto’ but sometimes shows ‘Receiver(HDMI)’ instead (as if it lost the eARC signal). The most st
How to get a volume indicator with playbar?
I have the playbar connected to a new uhd Samsung television. Everything seems to work fine except there is no indication of the volume level anywhere. I'm using optical to connect the playbar to the Samsung TV. Is there any way to get the volume level to show somewhere? It's really annoying not seeing a number or indicator change as the volume changes. Thanks for any help/insight
Mounting Beam onto TV mount
I've ordered a Beam as it is seems perfect for my requirements. My TV is on a wall mount bracket above a fireplace. I would like to hang the Beam below my TV as there is no wall below the TV to use the Beam mounts (they are all for wall mounting). Does anyone know if the Sanus Playbar TV mount would work ( https://www.sonos.com/en-gb/shop/sanus-playbar-tv-mount.html ) or if not whether there is currently an alternative, many thanks
Projector to Playbar Options
So after some research it seems like if you have a few options if you plan to use a projector with sonos. I just want to make sure I understand the options. It seems like this is a popular question and hopefully this can be a good summary to the question. (sorry for the poor use of terms here, I am no A/V expert). [list=1][*]The best case would be to have an Optical Audio out from the projector. You then connect your "data output device" i.e. tv box aka Sky, comcast, ATT, dvd player etc, to the projector. Then you run an toslink (optical audio cable) from the projector to the playbar (yes this requires a long cable) to the front of the room. With this setup there is no delay in audio (lipsync effect)[*]If your projector does not have an optical Out then but your "data output device" does then you can run the optical cable from the "data output device" to the playbar. This may actually reduce your cord length if you keep this device at the front of the room. If I understand corre
Sonos Arc and LG OLED C8
I’d like to order the new sonos arc and pair it with my LG oled C8PUA. it seems LG is not going to update these tvs to the eArc standard (bums). What exactly does that mean? Im i just throwing money away here? I’d live to get a good solid Dolby atmos surround sound system going. Will the experience be any good? I’m not a super audiophile- but i do live a great sounding movie. I mostly watch from Netflix/amazon. thanks!
SONOS One placement for Surround Sound
I've recently purchased a SONOS Beam and I'd like to add a couple of SONOS Ones to the mix for surround sound for watching movies and playing games etc. I'd ideally like to place the speakers in the top corners of my room (see circles marked in pic) Anyone have any thoughts? I obviously want a good sound but I'm unsure as to whether placing the speakers here will have any negative impact. Audiophiles assemble!
No new Playbar? Really Sonos?
All this R&D on the Move which I expect to be a niche product given it's price. Meanwhile the Playbar sits at $699 with no HDMI, dated looks, no voice control, no new audio codecs. Listen to the Verge podcast where they interview the Sonos CEO. They ask him why no new Playbar and he blows it off. At the end they make fun of it only having an optical port. It's just an insult to Sonos' customers. At least lower the price. Plenty of soundbars out there that do twice as much for half as much. Get rid of the Playbase and upsize the Beam. How hard can that be instead of designing a portable bluetooth speaker?
Arc with LG OLED GX - TV setup
I’m having trouble setting up my Arc with my new LG GX. I am running through HDMI-ARC. The sound is playing through the bar, and it’s receiving an Atmos signal (I can see the logo in the app). However, there are two issues: (1) Sonos app tells me there is a “connection issue” with my TV setup, and (2) the TV remote cannot change the volume on the Arc. For (1), we have tried the Sonos app troubleshooting, but it cannot resolve it. I have submitted diagnostic number 551452744. Thank you for your help,Matr
TV stand to highten LG TV above the soundbar
I have an LG Oled TV → 55”, 18 kilo heavy, 1228 x 749 x 220 and it’s resting on it’s own foot (is that the correct English term for it?). It’s not mounted on a wall. LG seems to make tv’s with a very low mount, so if I put a soundbar before it, the soundbar will actually be slightly infront of the TV. This is what is currently keeping my from pressing the buy option for a Sonos Arc. I’ve looked a bit, but aside from finding reddit topics where people put tv’s on books, construct their own solutions and one person even putting the soundbar behind the tv (eeh..) I didn’t find much in terms of a solution. yet I cannot be the only person with a non-wall mounted LG tv that wants to use a soundbar I think? Does anybody know of any good solutions? Esp. for such a heavy TV. Preferably something that also is not bad to look..
using Sonos products with existing amplifier
My question is similar to several other topics related to using Sonos speakers and other amplifiers, but those threads are several months to as long as a year old. I’m hoping for an updated answer. I plan to purchase a Playbar and other Sonos wireless speakers to create 5:1 audio for TV viewing and additional wireless speakers for other rooms in the house. I also would like music from my CD player and/or AM/FM receiver to play through the Sonos speaker system instead of using my externally wired speakers. The CD player is currently connected to the amplifier in the receiver, so all current audio sources (except for the TV) are output from the amplifier to the hardwired speakers. Every thing I’ve read describes connecting a Line Out from the Sonos Connect to a Line In on an amplifier, but wouldn’t I need to come OUT of the receiver and IN to the Connect so the source can be sent to the wireless speakers? Thanks.
PS4 Pro outputting PCM via LG CX shows Multichannel PCM 7.1 for Sonos Arc, but rear surrounds have no audio
I have the Arc, Sub, and Sonos 1 in a surround setup, connected to an LG CX via eArc. Previously I had the PS4 outputting Bitstream (Dolby), and Sonos reported Dolby Digital 5.1.The fix that added LPCM to Sonos Arc recently went live, so I updated PS4 Pro to output PCM, and the HDMI input on the TV to PCM. (The output remained Passthrough). After doing this, the System Status page for Sonos shows Multichannel PCM 7.1.However, I now get no rear surround audio in games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. (It’s not faint, there’s really none.) I get the full surround experience if I change it back to getting Dolby Digital 5.1. On the PS4 Home screen, I do get sound from the rears in PCM 7.1, albeit very faintly, compared to Dolby Digital 5.1.Does Sonos not downmix the extra channels properly? It’s kinda bad that a higher fidelity signal sounds worse.
Feature Request: Enable Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3 or DD+) for Better Audio Quality
This feature request is for Sonos support Dolby Digital Plus, also known as E-AC-3 or DD+. This would permit a higher quality audio experience when watching surround sound-enabled videos. Sonos currently supports PCM stereo and Dolby Digital (AC-3) surround sound. This made sense for the Playbar and Playbase, which only have a S/PDIF connection. With the Sonos Beam's HDMI ARC connection, it is now possible to deliver a Dolby Digital Plus bitstream to the Sonos 5.1 system. Many Blu-rays include a 1.5Mbps Dolby Digital Plus track. Many streaming services including iTunes, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video support the Dolby Digital Plus codec both for efficiency and in order to deliver Dolby Atmos. Further, it is possible for an app (like Plex) to transcode in a perceptually transparent manner from lossless codecs like TrueHD and DTS:X (as well as lossy codecs like DTS that are unsupported by Sonos) to Dolby Digital Plus. This is because DD+ can support up to 6Mbps throughput versus D
Setting up Beam on a TV with no HDMI ARC or optical out.
Hi, I know that a lot of folks have been asking about this so I apologize for adding to the chorus but I’m trying to set up a Beam on a TV that doesn’t have HDMI ARC or an optical output. I’ve read a few different posts and seen a few different solutions so I’m hoping to get some clarity. I’ve seen some folks recommend an HDMI switch device like the Monoprice. I’ve seen other folks recommend a coax to optical cable. Attached are pictures of what I’m working with for my TV. Pictures include a picture of what my TV has for audio outs and another picture of the audio outs as it is currently set up (currently have a cable box going into the tv as well as an Apple TV). For whatever it’s worth my TV is a RCA 42pa30rq. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks! Nick
About my system shows audio in as 2.0 instead of 5.1
Hello all, This drives me absolutely crazy and I don’t know why I am having this issue or how to fix it. So in my living room I have a full 5.1 set up - I have a beam, the sub, and stereo paired L and R Sono’s ones. I have the beam plugged in via HDMI/ARC to my tv. On tv itself I have my settings set to bitstream for the HDMI audio format and then the audio format set to Dolby Digital. However whenever I check the audio in on my beam on the settings within the Sonos app it says Dolby Digital 2.0. What gives? When I stream digital movies via the vudo tv app I check to make sure they are Dolby Digital Now I do hear sound out of the stereo pair speakers and the sub is producing bass for scenes but I dont understand why my app doesn't show 5.1. then however when I watch something stupid on cable that I am sure isn’t 5.1 it tends to show it (I also have my cable provider settings set up as well.) So basically I am just curious if anyone can help me on my it says 2.0 when it shou
Can PLAYBAR be paired with a CONNECT:AMP to Create a 5.1 Home Theater setup?
The PLAYBAR specs say that it can be paired with the SUB to create a 3.1 Home Theater system and further it can be paired with two PAY:3 speakers to create a 5.1 Home Theater system. If I don't have a SUB, can I pair just my two PLAY:3 to the PLAYBAR and does that work OK? Also, I have a CONNECT:AMP, can that be paired with the PLAYBAR and would that work OK? My CONNECT:AMP also has a its own Subwoofer, so will the Subwoofer connected to the CONNECT:AMP be able to be used with the PLAYBAR pairing to create a 5.1 Home Theater system? Thank you for your help with my questions. Scott
LG OLED C8 work with Sonos Sound Bar?
I was at the electonics store today because I want to purchase a new TV. I was looking at the LG OLED C8 (with Dolby Atmos) model LG OLED65C8PUA. I was told by the installer that they don't sync properly. That there is a delay and the lips don't sync to the sound. Can someone confirm if this is in fact true before I go by the TV.
No TV sound
My tv was working and randomly in the middle of the day, the sound quite working. Called Sonos support and they wanted me to change my optical cable. I changed it and still no sound from the tv. Checked all the settings not sure what else to do. Music does play on the sound bar just no tv coming through.
