UK TV for Virgin Media 360 Box and Beam 2
Just hoping someone can help me sort out my sound issues. I am new here and a bit of a beginner in this stuff so please bear with me. My TV is a Samsung QR49Q7FAM. I have recently bought a Beam 2 and two Sonos 1 as surrounds using the Sonos 2 App. My TV doesn't have E-Arc (as far as I know) so I have a 3 way optical splitter and have connected my TV, Virgin Media 360 Box and a Samsung BluRay DVD player by optical cables as inputs with the output going by optical cable to the Beam 2, using the Sonos supplied adapter. If I watch a movie or sport with 5.1 output from my Virgin Media 360 Box the surround sound is working as 5.1 and I can hear the rear speakers. Its good! Recently I watched some of the Rugby Internationals through the Amazon Prime App on my Virgin Media 360 Box and the sound was also 5.1. I started watching The Rings of Power through the Amazon Prime App on my Virgin Media 360 Box and got no sound at all from the Virgin Media 360 Box output. I switched to the TV in
Where is the best placement for the sub in my basmenet set up?
I have two One Sl for my surround sound system with the arc below my tv. One of them is behind the couch that is on the back wall and the second is between the two couches on the side wall. I was looking to buy a sub and don’t know where is the best placement. I don’t want it under my arc. I was thinking fo put it either behind the couch on the back wall and I would move the one sl to the other outlet where I marked on the picture. Or I would put it when I mark the number 1 in the picture and I would move the One Sl to the outlet I mark. Let me know what you guys think.
Sonos ARC & LG TV constaly not working eARC
Hello forum, I’m going crazy trying to solve the issues of the Sonos Arc constantly disconnecting from the TV eARC every power cycle and reverting to the internal speakers. Have tried every possible combination, enable, and disable without luck.Auto Power Cycle (ON and OFF) Auto Device Detection (ON and OFF) SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC; ON) QuickStart+ for LG (ON and OFF) HDMI Ultra Deep Color (Enable and Disable) Instant Game Response (Enable and Disable) All HDMI Cables Tested HDMI cables connected to TV no luck HDMI cables disconnected except Sonos no luck HDMI-CEC setup only for the Sonos ARC eARC enabled I’m running out of options to test, is very disappointing and frustrating that a soundbar of 1000€ + 800€ sub is constantly required to setup every day to enjoy.Have run a diagnostic 303498386.System version 14.19 and LG TV updated to lasted software.(65NANO866)If anyone can help will be much appreciated.
Increase volume level of 1 surround speaker
Hi,I have a Sonos setup consisting of an Arc, Sub gen 3 + 2x One SL.My hearing in my left ear is less good than that in my right ear. So I would want to turn up to volume of the left surround speaker more compared to the right one.I don't see an option to do that. But maybe there is. Does somebody know?I can't physically move the left speaker closer to me to solve the issue.I tried achieving my goal in 2 ways:Not use Trueplay. Then configure the left surround at the maximum distance in the app (assuming this would cause the volume to be the loudest for it) and turn the setting for the right surround one to be closer. That didn't seem to make much difference, and I would also like to use Trueplay. I also tried using Trueplay, and after doing that turn Trueplay off for a second, and then configure the left + right surround as I did under number 1 above. After that turn Trueplay back on. That also didn't help. What I am looking for is just volume sliders per surround speaker - then I could
Conectar reproductor blu ray a sonos beam 2 de forma directa.
Hello, I have a tv that has Arc but no eArc. I am thinking of buying a blu ray player that has an HDMI input only for audio (audio output only). Can I connect an HDMI cable from the blu ray player's audio output to the sonos beam 2 input to play uncompressed Atmos from UHD discs?I understand that the arc output of the tv cannot output audio with high bitrate such as atmos and others. So my only option is to output the audio from the player to the bar, and while it should work, I don't know for sure. Thanks and regards.
PS5 to Sonos Beam 2 down mixing LPCM 5.1 to Stereo PCM
Hi all, I have a challenge for you…I have a PS5 connecting to the game port on a Samsung Q90 TV and then the Q90 connecting to to a Sonos beam Gen 2 via the E-arc port. I have 2 x Play:1’s serving as surround speakers. I have the ps5 set to output the audio stream as bitstream to the TV. TV is set to “pass-through” on the audio settings. I am trying to play a blu-ray from the PS5 which I can see (from the PS5 screen) is outputting as LPCM 5.1, 48khz. However, when I look at the Sonos app it shows up as Stereo PCM, so it seems to be down mixing. If I put my ear really close to the rear surrounds I can just about hear a faint noise, but it’s not what you would call surround sound. Has anyone come across this? I think the config is okay - if I play a blu-ray from the ps5 using Dolby true-HD 5.1 it plays fine in all it’s surround sound glory and shows up on the sono app as True-HD. I am also getting good surround sound from Amazon Prime, so I think this problem is related to LPCM 5.1 only.
Dolby Atmos Inconsistent Label
I have a Sonos Arc + Sub connected to my Samsung S95B eArc HDMI port and connected to the same TV, to another HDMI portM, an Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen). The TV is setup for passthrough and when I increase or decrease the volume it shows Sonos Arc (eArc HDMI). Apple TV shows, in the settings, under immersive audio, Dolby Atmos. From my understanding it everything is properly setup. When I play content, be it Apple TV+, Netflix, HBO Max, etc.. and press down button on the remote to look at the Info Window it shows it’s playing 4K Dolby Vision but no Dolby Atmos label. As a matter of fact Dolby Atmos label only appears on Apple TV+, very rarely, and then disappears. When browsing for content the apps they do show support for Dolby Atmos. What confuses me is that while playing the content (Apple TV+, Netflix, etc..) the Sonos App shows the Dolby Atmos in both “Now Playing” and System Information. The question I have is: which one is correct? Is Apple not aware it’s playing Dolby Atmos content
Today i bought the Arc.I have an LG TV with earc. (It says Arc)I set the tv settings Earc - on and digital - pass trough. When i start a movie on Disney the tv shows dolby vision. The sonos app shows dolby atmos. When i start the same movie without the Arc i can enable dolby atmos on the tv speakers and the tv shows dolby atmos. Is the arc playing dolby atmos or just dolby vision?
Sonos Arc with Apple TV 4K Audio Format (Dolby MAT encoder) Sound Quality Questions
I do know Apple TV 4K uses Dolby MAT encoder, and apps like Netflix will show the “PCM Multichannel 5.1” instead of something like “Dolby PCM Multichannel 5.1” for this reason. When I play the same show from Apple TV 4K (PCM Multichannel 5.1) and from the internal TV’s app (Dolby PCM Multichannel 5.1), I can easily find “Dolby PCM Multichannel 5.1” is more dynamic, more detailed and louder. My questions: Is “PCM Multichannel 5.1” the more RAW and accurate one? Or it is just a downside of how tvOS processes the audio format? Should we use “dolby digital 5.1” in Apple TV’s audio format when we are not watching any Dolby Atmos contents? Thank you in advance!
Sonos and Sony XBR55A8H volume control problem
Problem: My Sony TV and Sonos system work very well with the Sonos system (Beam, Sub Gen 3, pair Sonos Ones) connected through HDMI Arc. Unfortunately, the TV/Sonos volume always jumps 2 levels at a time when using the remote. eg 2, 4, 6, 8…When I unplug the Sonos System and switch to the Sony to TV sound only, the TV volume adjusts properly, eg: 1, 2, 3, 4...I am using the same remote and have tried several different remotes but get the same incorrect result.I have also tried adding each piece of my Sonos system, checking volume control as I add each piece, but the result does not change, 2, 4, 6, 8...Question: Is there a way to stop the volume jumping 2 steps at a time so I have a finer control of the system volume? I love the Sonos system but would like to improve the volume adjustment with the TV remote. Thanks for any help.
Getting the best out of Sonos, without Trueplay
Hi All,I am sure many ARC+Sub Home Theatre owners are following the 14.12 and 14.14 updates issue (sub power drop off with Trueplay) with great anticipation of a fix - and this could be some time yet. Not only are we waiting for the sub presence to return to its punchy self, but we also know Sonos are evolving the overall sound signature. As a result, this has made me think about getting the best out of sound when not using Trueplay. i.e. configuring the system manually (natively). It would be great to hear from people who don't use Trueplay and what speaker positioning tips and tools (including white noise sound testing) they use to calibrate their system. In essence, has anyone dumped Trueplay and found happiness with it turned off? If so, what did they do to get that sound? Thanks,Brad
Multi-Room Party Setup
Two questions really: The main entertaining space in a small private party venue has a system with Arc, stereo subs and two One SL. The max volume played through the app is not sufficient for the space. Can the amp be incorporated into the system to increase overall sound? There are adjacent spaces that would benefit from additional speakers - can additional stereo subs, One SL and hopefully amps be added to the adjacent spaces that can be turned on or off independently?
Can you disable left and right sounds from Sonos Beam?
I currently have a 4.1 setup with Sonos Amp. The two front speakers are passive wired speakers connected to the amp.I want to add a soundbar as the center speaker. Will I be able to disable the left and right sound in Beam or Arc? I want those to be coming from the bigger passive speakers.
Sky & Sonos
Are sky and Sonos ever going to sort out the sync issue when going through a Samsung TV.Its now been 2 years of having Dolby plus switched off. I turn it back on every few months to see if anything has changed. If no one can be bothered to sort this, its going to be hard, but might be the time to ditch Sonos as the family wont let me ditch sky. Rich

Sonos Arc & DTS via PCM on Panasonic UB9000....
I have had a Sonos Arc for around 2 weeks now & its not fully setup for surround sound (I'm still waiting for my One SL's to be shipped) I knew the issues with the Arc & its incompatibility with DTS, however I came across this article which states that if I turn DTS/DTS-HD to PCM on my Panasonic UB9000, my eARC TV will be able to convert DTS/DTS-HD audio to Dolby Digital 5.1. Am I reading this correctly & has anyone tried this? DTS via PCM?

connecting sonos beam with Epson EH-TW7000
I know that this question has already been answered but I have found a simpler and cheaper way for anyone still struggling with this issue. I brought an audio extractor off Amazon: 4K Audio Extractor HDMI by OREITo make this all work, plug your source into the input and projector into the output, then plug the sound bar into the optical port. Make sure that in the projector settings the audio out device is set to AV receiver and the go to the sonos app and go though the “tv setup” after this you should be all good. At time of this the audio extractor is only £44 which is cheap compared to others on the market. I hope this helps :) Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct. Does SONOS soundabars really enter standby?
Hi,I just bought a SONOS Beam and I was very surprised to find out that there is no indication/notification/setting to see if/when the soundbar enters in standby.Everyone says the same old story: SONOS has a special standby mode when not used. That’s all! I am sorry, but i am not buying it! I will buy a multimeter socket and test it myself to see the power consumptions between day and night.
