Alexa Voice commands wont play bbc or spotify music
I have a sonos beam and sonos roam. When I use Alexa it hears the commend and says it will play bbc sounds but never actually plays anything. With Spotify, it asks me to log in on the device on my phone and connect to the speaker, which I do but still doesn’t work when I go to voice commands. Anyone else having the same issue or know how to fix this?
Troubleshoot 3rd party file server/Alexa skill issue
I'm using a third party music service in which I use an Alexa skill to control. Third party music service is serving up files for my file server. After a while, the music always stops. This doesn't happen to streaming services. At this point, support for that service has run out of things to check. Any ideas where to start? Ping looks fine and I've got plenty of bandwidth. Ipconfig on the speaker, does show dropped packets.Using a Roam on 5gHz wifi.
Alexa does not respond on both speakers
I have one Sonos One and another SL in my room set up as a stereo pair. If I ask the ONE a question is it possible it responds from the speakers of both the ONE and ONE SL? so if I ask a question alexa only responds from the speaker of the ONE. Can I make it answer my question on the both speakers???
voice assistant cannot play music when prompted
Recently taken my somos roam away and connected to the holiday home wifi. Worked ok to start with but now Alexa won’t play music when prompted. Alexa works and searches as expected but for some reason music cannot be triggered. I have to do it manually via the sonos App. I tried re-authorising the music services, reinstalled Amazon music, but still nothing. Is very strange. Any ideas?
Alexa and hey sonos have stopped working
Both Alexa and hey Sonos have stopped working. I can play music thru the app, but all voice control is gone. I rebooted speakers, deleted and reconnected WiFi, deleted and added both voice controls (which worked upon initial so mics are working) but then would not work after setup. I signed out of every account and logged back in. Nothing!!!!! Is the Sonos server down? Thx Jackie
Problem using Arc with Alexa
I have a Beam upstairs and an Arc downstairs. The Beam works fine with Alexa ( although have an Amazon fire stick close by the Beam, and I wonder if it’s that which is responding?! - this is connected to the tv, and so is the Beam). but with the Arc Alexa keeps replying - “first enable skill for Arc in Alexa app” .. which is already enabled but I’ve tried disabling it and re-enabling it, but then Alexa says it can’t find devices. I’ve been able to control the Arc via Sonos app, playing Amazon Music, but Alexa won’t work. Can anyone help with this? I’m very confused!
sonos beam and alexa turn on turn off issues
throughout the last couple of years I have had variable success with whether or not alexa turns off the tv. now its variable success whether or not alexa turns on the tv. switching hdmi to the non-arc port is what allowed alexa to turn off the tv. BUT that annowing sign saying your audio device is not in the arc hdmi port would intermittently show up despite pressing ok or just leaving it alone. Samsung TV. switching the hdmi port bact to the arc port now “confused” the tv and so variable whether or not alexa can turn on or turn off the tv… SONOS, please address and create appropriate update. what does the community think? thanks
Alexa on Arc goes quiet for too long after asking a question
I have an Arc set up with two One surrounds and not long ago (I can’t pinpoint exactly when) it started taking at least ten seconds for the volume to go back up after asking Alexa something and the answer finishing, or if it thinks it hears the wake word it will stay quiet for far too long. Any ideas would be much appreciated, as it’s really annoying. I don’t have ‘follow-up mode’ enabled as it’s ‘disabled when using Wi-Fi connected speaker’ according to the Alexa app.
era 100 issue with alexa
Alexa isn’t fully working on my era 100. I can’t control Spotify using it. Ive checked the Alexa app and my era 100 is on there but doesn’t seem to be linked as a speaker. When I ask Alexa to change songs , on my era, it tells me that it can’t support the stream and to add my era 100 device. Very strange.
Can’t get Alexa Announcements to work on my new Sonos One
Bought a Sonos One and connected it to my old 2x Sonos plays.I did this to set up Alexa routines for my daughter. While I have been able to get music to play out the speakers from a routine,I cannot get it to do an Announcement through any of the speakers from a routine. When I press play on the routine it says “Now playing you routine” but no sound is played.I have reset the speaker, removed the Alexa app, re installed it re connected it to the Sonos app but it still did not work. There is a post on the Sonos community talking about this from a couple of months ago but it seems like it is working for some and not others.I was hoping someone here might have some thoughts on getting this to work.
Era 100 - “There was a problem adding Alexa”
Has anyone else had issues setting up Alexa on their Era 100? I have a One with Alexa enabled but when I try to add Alexa to my 100 I get a “There was a problem adding Alexa” error after clicking the “Sign in to Amazon” button. I have logged out of and back into the Amazon Alexa app, and disabled/re-enabled the Sonos skill in that app.
Unable to set Sonos Era 100 as Alexa-enabled device in room/group using Alexa app
Today I’ve upgraded my two Sonos Ones with Sonos Era 100s. After adding Alexa to the speakers, I tried to go into the Alexa app to associate them with their respective rooms. I’m able to add them as the room speaker, but I am unable to set them as the Alexa device for that room (allowing for room-specific commands like “Alexa, turn off the lights”, etc). What’s weird is my Era 100s will show up under the Echo & Alexa devices section in the Alexa app, but they do not show up under Alexa-enabled devices when editing a room/group (see attached screenshots).I’ve reached out to Alexa support and they were largely unhelpful, they claimed that from their resources Alexa isn’t supported on the Sonos Era 100 (maybe their documentation hasn’t been updated since this is a brand new product?). So they left the conversation there even after showing them that Sonos clearly states Alexa built-in support for the Era 100.Has anyone else experienced this issue? Seems like a bug in the Alexa app, and
Sonos Beam gen 2 not showing as an announcement device in Alexa App
I have added a Beam gen 2 to my home. I was setting up the ring doorbell announcement to all speakers in the Alexa app and go into the Ring Doorbell settings but it is not showing the Beam in the announcement device list. All my other speakers - echo shows and various other Sonos devices are listed. I have checked everything I can think of, including that the Beam in set enabled for communication and announcements in the Alexa app. Disabling / reenabling the Sonos Alexa skill / Removing all Sonos devices and readding.
Apple Music limitations
I noticed that for many albums (especially anything somewhat popular, ie. non children's music), when I use Apple Music (with Alexa/Sonos Voice), I end up with no way to manage the playlist, I cannot repeat or decide which song to play next. I just have an “end session” button if I go to the Sonos playlist. When using Youtube Music I don’t have this issue, so I guess this is an intentional limitation of Apple Music?Backstory: I have Youtube Premium because I don’t want adds on Youtube. But it seems like Sonos isn’t prioritizing Google given its law suit. A while ago Google Assistant “announce” stopped working. I also wanted to be able to use Sonos Voice, so I switched to Sonos Voice + Alexa. But neither supports Youtube Music. As a result I started a trial of Apple Music but so far I am quite disappointed. Apple Music + Alexa also seems less good when it comes to dealing with music requests from my child (in German). I guess I might give Amazon Music a try.
