Controllers and Music services

As others have experienced, I continue to receive the "The device where the music files are stored may not be powered on" error when I attempt to index my library. It begins to index, then craps out with the above error message which is not helpful and not even true as my library is right on my MacBook where the Sonos app resides.My library has about 10,000 songs. It is curated from my CD collection and iTunes market. My library is currently being managed by Apple in one share file. I leverage comments and grouping info to create smart playlists.I see no practical way of splitting up this library into multiple share files -- honestly that is a ridiculous proposal suggested by Sonos support.It is also suggested that cumulative meta data has a limit…. does anyone know how to assess if this is really the case? And if it is the problem, it is technically solvable. 10,000 songs with meta data is “little” data compared to what can be handled in today’s “

For a long time , I have been waiting for Sonos to release a remote control for their products. Not one on a smart device. I do not always want to look for my phone , unlock my phone, find the app and look through a music service to play music. Is there any word on the development of a physical remote with basic commands and music presets on it? I know of one new company that is currently making connected amplifiers that does this and they are doing well. Any idea if Sonos would consider something so simple yet useable? 

How can I set my own preferences in the bass, middle and high-sounds? 

I have a sonos amp, arc, sun and 2 ones and have a turntable connected to the amp. This has worked in the past with essentially 2 systems connected ie the amp and then the speakers. Since the app has come out I have had difficulty with this and finding the speaker set up. The amp is there with line in but the speakers seem to have disappeared from the system. I have tried to reset these and they can’t be found. Has anyone else had this problem or something similar

Why cant they just stop messing with Sonos !!!!!!!I have an original system used as a surround system for the TV and grouped with other rooms.I bought this due to being able to play directly from my phone around the home and spent alot of money on this system only to find that now after some years this function has been taken away and now the library is no longer available from my PC !!!!!!!I very nearly bought the Bose system but for the fact that the Sonos was truly wireless, except the power leads of course, I cant even use the old software to run the system from my phone which worked perfectly until the update.I settled for having to use my desktop to now play music around the home but the new update has now removed my library from the system and will not allow me to reinstal it.Can anyone tell me of a way to go back to the old software or a way to get the system to play my music library from the PC again ????I am at a loss here and stro

I have tried to connect my shared music library with te Sonos app. The path worked well. But than I had to fill in a username and pass word.My question is which type (apple, Sonos, iTunes, etc) user name and pass word I have to fill in? I have no clue which type to fill in. Kind regards fort any help

I’m trying to play “Fooled Around and Fell In Love” from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 soundtrack. The app just keeps skipping to “I Want You Back”. The album won’t play in order either. I’ve tried removing the NAS location and adding it back again. Same exact problem. Why did SONOS make such huge changes? Everything about their system has turned to crap except the sound for watching movies; which is still slow to respond. For years everything was working great then someone had the great idea of this 2.0 forced upgrade! I can’t enjoy my music library on the system I paid a shit ton of money on!I’ve been running this library off my NAS for the past 4 years before it started having problems with the “amazing” new application updates.

I am still running S2 V16.1 and using a Samsung tablet. I'm selling a Play 5 that is not on my system and I want to make sure it is working before I move it on.If I add it to my system will I be forced to update? And, if so, can I download the new app to my phone and leave the old app running on my tablet.

I’ve seen a previous post about this from a year ago but no resolution. I have just noticed that when I add the Billie Eilish album “Happier than ever” to my Sonos queue the tracks that are marked as “Explicit” will not play.  They appear in the playlist but are skipped over and cannot be selected directly. I have tried:Checking the setting in the Spotify account:  “Allow playback of explicit rated content” is enabled.Checking the setting in the Sonos Android app (the new one).  “Filter Explicit Content” is disabledSwapping to a different Spotify account:  No differenceRe-authorizing the Spotify account:  No changeDeleting and then re-connecting the Spotify account:  No change. If I play the album in the Spotify App then the Explicit tracks play as I would expect.If I start playing in the Spotify App and then connect to Sonos via the “Connect to a device” option in the Spotify App then the Explicit t

Here are the problems I am having.It appears to me you can only add one song at a time to the queue.  I cannot find a method to add a whole folder.  How lame.  Update:  It does appear you can play a folder from the music library search results.  Only one folder, not folder and subfolders. I cannot find a search function, except for the music library.  For example, searching the Amazon playlists for a particular list.For me, I will probably continue to use my Sonos gear until they break the Windows app.  At that point I will probably move onto a different product.  Last I saw Sonos says they are discontinuing the Windows app.  The Android app does not hold a candle to the Windows app.Seems to me that Sonos does not understand what attracted users to their products and are working hard to alienate their users.  Good luck with that as a business model.

For those who have successfully installed today's update…Is there anything actually useful there?

We have changed router and have a new WiFi password. The Sonos app on Windows 11 won’t connect. The only Support guidance is for iOS or Android. So we downloaded the Android app and that can’t find the system either. Is there an easier way to do this ?

I have Sonos systems in two homes.  At our primary home, our iTunes library (contained in a Mac Mini) is captured on the Sonos system.  As the Mac is located at the primary home, the iTunes library is not available on the secondary home system.  I’m planning on transferring the iTunes library (<4TB) to a portable NAS device and am looking on feedback on recommended devices and success/failure in transferring the library to the device and adding the music library to the Sonos system at the secondary home

Recently, voice control on my Sonos One for Spotify stopped working. For example, I’ll ask it to play jazz, and Google will respond “playing jazz on Spotify in living room” but nothing plays and Sonos app shows no music in queue. Playing manually from Spotify app and choosing a speaker works.  I have unlinked and relinked all accounts across Sonos, Google, and Spotify. Also reset my Sonos app and factory reset the device. Still not working.  I did test Sonos voice assistant and that DOES work… so it seems it’s something happening with the connection to Google and Alexa.

Anyone else like me and currently too scared to update their sonos library + desktop app just in case it gets screwed even more than it currently is? (lesson learned after automatic ios update)Sonos are going to have to do some BIG gestures to earn trust back from their customers.

Since the new version of the app I am unable to access my Sonos system as when I ask to join an existing system the accept T&S’s button is grayed out and does nothing when I tap it. This is the same on both my Android tablet and my iPhone. Both tablet and iPhone software is up to date.Come on Sonos team there have been too many issues in the recent past from the Alexa issues with the Era 100 to this!!Can somebody please help me reconnect to my Sonos System This is just sooo frustrating!! Thank you

When I try to swipe the next page down 99% of the time the whole app will swipe down instead of the menu. Do I have fat fingers or is the pin strip you need to hit positioned wrong” 

As of August 1 2025, Sonos is finally displaying my music library. I can see a list of my iTunes playlists.However, when I add a playlist to Sonos’s favorite, Sonos starts using some cryptic internal code for the playlist name. I can’t tell which playlist is which from the names used.  

Problem Free Imported Playlist Solution:I was one of the victims of Sonos’s recent upgrade in May. I lost everything and was unable to play music until August, still without my imported playlists. Work arounds proved faulty. My music library would appear and disappear forcing me to do another significant reload. The NAS work around has proven satisfactory but not ideal. My external hard drive is not a NAS, why are we treating it as such?Sonos support was completely unacceptable; the representatives were polite enough and while apologetic (offering nothing but empty promises that these issues would be fixed in future)  proved completely unable to resolve the issue  Call wait times are oft north of 75 minutes and level 2 technicians have to be scheduled weeks in advance. The CEOs letter trying to mitigate the situation left me apoplectic. My imported playlists have never returned. And given the dearth of actual support, I gave up. Admittedly, the imported playlist

Hi,I'm having real usability issues with Plex. I've tried removing and reauthorizing the account etc multiple times. My use case is that I have multiple Plex sources but can't interchange them. so is keeps defaulting to the my childrens source which is smaller (not sure if that's contributing).  I get the “something went wrong” error when I try to changing it to my main source after 10 or so seconds of thinking about it. Workaround is for me to access music that's hosted in my main source  via the playlists option or using search which is hit and miss - often seems to drop Plex from the list of services to search. Strangely I can access an album via this method but not the whole artist - again not sure if it's a content thing. I've loaded the following diagnostic.**Moderator Note: Diagnostic number removed for privacy*

Volume control not working on iphone/iPadis there a way to fix? It use to work….😳😡

2 things:1. When alarm sounds in morning, My phone screen used to come on with option to turn it off or snooze. Since the May update, it doesn't do this anymore. Is this coming back sometime??2. Alarm music selection used to allow to search our music subscriptions (e.g. YouTube music) and choose music to play... Now it only gives options for sonos radio or sonos favourites... Why?? 

I have had a Roam for the last couple of years and it has mostly worked well.  I do not like the new app, but I like the Sonos ecosystem and decided to expand the system with an Era 100.  I thought I would be ok as I suspected that the app issues were related to large/complicated Sonos setups and that progress was being made on system stability.But I am now having issues where songs from a Spotify stream just skip after playing for 30 seconds or so.  It is an intermittent problem, but I just had 5 songs in a row skip.  I mostly use the speakers as a group - both playing.Is this worth taking up with Sonos support given the intermittent nature of the issue?  Do you know if Sonos keeps an internal log of song skips and the reasons behind them?Feeling deflated about my new purchase.
