Life with Sonos
Life with Sonos. How do you get the most out of your Sonos system? Got any Sonos tips to share?
Hi All,I am sure many ARC+Sub Home Theatre owners are following the 14.12 and 14.14 updates issue (sub power drop off with Trueplay) with great anticipation of a fix - and this could be some time yet. Not only are we waiting for the sub presence to return to its punchy self, but we also know Sonos are evolving the overall sound signature. As a result, this has made me think about getting the best out of sound when not using Trueplay. i.e. configuring the system manually (natively). It would be great to hear from people who don't use Trueplay and what speaker positioning tips and tools (including white noise sound testing) they use to calibrate their system. In essence, has anyone dumped Trueplay and found happiness with it turned off? If so, what did they do to get that sound? Thanks,Brad
Hi, I wired my new build for ceiling speakers. I’ve got 2 sonance in prime position for Atmos surround. The problem is that I don’t know which wire goes to which speaker when plugging them into the Amp. Is there a way to test it? It seems that 1 of them is unresponsive and can’t tell if it’s a wiring issue or Amp issue,
Re they Arc and 14.12, I have dual Gen 3 subs and Fives as surrounds. It’s not just the sub(s). It’s the surrounds too. They are now barely audible and the Arc is overly forward vocally. The whole sound profile is night and day and not in a good way. The fact that a release like this gets past QA from a company that differentiates itself on its software platform is beyond me. Turning off Trueplay only makes it more annoying. Unlistenable and unwatchable for a $3k + system.
Hi,I recently bought a second Sonos roam which I love. However I’m concerned about security & privacy. I was listening to music using my iPhone which was connected to my Sonos roam via Bluetooth. Frustratingly my neighbour was able gain unauthorised access and mess around with the volume and the play / pause button remotely without my permission. He does not have access to my Wi-Fi and we are not acquaintances. How has he gained access to control my Sonos speaker? Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening again? Many thanks in advance
Recently there is a marked difference between the volume and loudness. It seems I have to crank things up a bit to experience the loudness and umph I enjoyed before. Don't know if it is because i got out of the beta testing group, or after I enabled Sonos Voice, but i am not happy. Before volume 7-10 worked perfectly as background passive listening for my reggae music, now i have to crank it up to 15!! :(
Have beam connected to LG tv through arc.we’ll be watching tv and sound is coming through beam and will just randomly switch sound to TV without warning. The volume drops down, so we have to turn it up, and then it’ll eventually just switch back to the beam and become really loud.have tried multiple cables and only conclusion is tv or the beam. Anyone else had this issue?
I find the on-screen graphical user interface volume control overlay to be quite annoying while adjusting the volume up or down during a program or movie. I really don’t understand why it’s there at all, as it does not even give a sound level? Is there a way to turn this off? Thank you for your replies!
I have 6 sonos sonance in ceiling speakers, however I am using 14/2 speaker wire. I do not think I can fit the wires into the sonos amp terminals, I was think of a speaker distribution block but it mentions having to use in wall impedance matching volume controls or it will hurt the amp? https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Distribution-Speakers-Amplifier-Receiver/dp/B082TSJL92/ref=sr_1_3?crid=DNK05TYSI9I2&keywords=speaker+distribution+block&qid=1661526598&s=electronics&sprefix=speaker+distribution+block%2Celectronics%2C58&sr=1-3
I have a pair of Sonos move speakers (bought them versus 1s because I enjoy the flexibility to take them outside in the summer) that are hooked up to my turntable via a port. They work great, but are currently sitting on boxes because I haven't found any decent stands that are meant for them. Curious if anyone in the community has found a good set of speaker stands that can securely hold them? I know I could wall mount with Sanus but I would ideally want them a bit farther away to get a better sound when I listen to records.
I have two rooms next to each other and I'm going to put a Sonos Beam (Gen2 ) in each of those rooms. Each soundbar will be connected to a tv.1.Is it possible to pair the two soundbars and listen to the same music?2.Can I hear what one of the televisions gives on both soundbar at the same time?3.Putting the TV in mute mode, can I listen to music from the app and the TV broadcast continues to play?
Last October i canceled my Sonos music subscription service. Sonos did cancel the service but continues to bill me every single month. Despite multiple emails and phone conversations, Sonos support/sales cannot seem to figure out how they are billing me each month even though i give them my credit card #, email, name, etc. I can call my bank and chargeback all these charges but was hoping Sonos would actually research and resolve their billing issue which is occurring without my permission. Wondering if i need to have a lawyer send a letter to them?
It’s pretty disappointing that Sonos has put out another update, yet the problem with the sub is still there. I have done everything I can, including removing the sub out of my network, re-installing, changing settings, turning off trueplay etc. still the Sub is mediocre now at best. We spent quite a bit of money for this type of return on our investment? SONOS, you’re really letting us down. I do read some reviews where some people don't have an issue, But I suspect this may be what Peter Pee was referring to. as its affecting some but not others. We are getting to the point where, if things don't get fixed in a hurry, we will ditch Sonos all together and go back to a tried and true dedicated system. My wife and I enjoy our cinema time at home, especially since the whole pandemic thing took place, we watch a lot of movies at home. We downsized our home in 2019 and decided to downsize our HT system as well (came from Marantz, SVS 7.2 Home theater system). We had towers, center channel
I have several Sonos speakers. I want to reduce the volume of just one speaker. How can is this best done? What I do at the moment on my Andorid app is this:(1) First tap the volume dot for the whole system. This shows the volume settings for each speaker. I often play at a low volume, such as setting number “9” which means there isn’t enough space on the slider to tap to the left of the volume indicator dot.(2) Next I tap to the right of the dot (which increases the volume) and then use the smartphone’s volume control buttons to lower that particular slider’s setting to.That’s a very clumsy way of doing it. Is there a simpler and better way?
I just bought a Panasonic TX-43LX650E Android TVTM and I can’t get the remote control to run my SONOS system. Is there a solution or is it preferable to buy another controller? If I need to buy another controller, any advice on what command to buy from Amazon to manage TV and Sonos? Thanks
Hi all. I ran a S2 Sonosnet-based system in our home for some years with a Boost connected to ethernet on the middle floor of the house. All devices played smoothly and the matrix looked good.A pair of Moves was then purchased for garden use. They set up fine as a Stereo Pair and connected etc... indeed, all seemed well. However once out in the garden the Move unit which was furthest from the house experienced drop outs, freezes and general buggyness. I tried various things with wi-fi boosters and changing the wireless channel etc but to no avail. Finally I reset the entire system and started again, this time omitting the Boost and running the whole thing as a wi-fi setup. Success! - all configured fine and now the stereo pair of Moves in the garden run without issue and I can take them further from the house than before. So my question is this: because the Move relies on wi-fi and not Sonosnest, is it better to use a pure wifi setup for reliable Move performance, rather than one where th
According to the verge, they claim Sonos is working on a set of new speakers and they look like they are designed to play audio in multiple directions including up for atmos. The Optimo 2 looks like the flagship, a replacement for a Sonos Five, it's big and has drivers for audio in all directions. Then there is a smaller speaker, the Optimo 1 and Optimo 1 SL, these could be designed as smaller home theatre and portable music speakers but with height channels. The new speakers appears have way more RAM and memory than previous models, perhaps indicating Sonos big plans for its new products https://www.theverge.com/2022/8/24/23319989/sonos-optimo-speaker-features-design
Unable to connect to RadioApp via the S2 App on my iOS devices. Means I can’t listen to my local radio stations. Is it an ad issue? Updated my phone app 2 days ago. Am running SONOS via BOOST. I have multiple devices (i.e. heavily invested) in my SONOS system.
Hi, in the current version setting up an alarm to play your song in playlist automatically puts it in a repeating loop. Also there is no option to stop the alarm automatically when the song finishes. I would like to request Sonos to make:1. repeat loop an option in alarm settings whether you want to repeat or not?2. Have an option to stop alarm when the song finishes, in addition to the current method to set a time limit. like the suggestion to make Sonos make the changes. Thanks
