An easy method to stream Windows PC audio wirelessly to Sonos, using a third-party app
There are tons of posts about how to stream computer audio to Sonos, almost all of which say you can't, or that you have to use a line-in approach with a Connect. I just did it wirelessly in less than five minutes and $0. Note this is only for Windows, and has a several-second delay, so it won't help with video or games, but audio is just fine. I know there is something similar for Mac, but I have not tried it, and have heard it might have issues. Convince me to buy Sonos Playbar over Bose 300
Hi All, My wife likes the Sonos Playbar, while I like the Bose 300. I have owned Bose products in the past. Listening to the demo at Best Buy, the Bose sounds better. The sales people say the Sonos demo is not very good. Being a professional nerd, I research everything. I have been monitoring both user support sites and I am having second thoughts about the Bose. There sure SEEMS to be a lot of basic issues with software updates on the Bose side. Slow or no responses. Both are the same price so nothing to go on there. As we get "older" it is more important to have clear dialog and not knock pictures off the wall when a car explodes. We mostly watch movies, sports and TV. Some music but not the priority. Harmony remote and Alexa. My main question is, from the communities perspective, would you buy it again and any comments of why Sonos is better than Bose? How has the support been? Are they listening to you? Do updates break more than they fix? Anothe
Windows 10 Controller
Do you have plans to ship a Windows 10 Store app which can be used from multiple Windows devices (PC, Phone, Xbox) to control the Sonos experience? We are a Windows household and the desktop controller that exists for PC today is heavy and not very touch friendly. The third party Windows Phone app, Phonos, is fills a void, but not nearly as feature rich as the Android or iOS app. This has been requested for several years (https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/support-windows-8-rt-for-surface-tablet-and-windows-phone-8-for-mobile-devices-4593709) and the product management team does not address this gap beyond a blanket we have no news statement. I understand that choices have to be made. If you do not plan to address this in the net 12 months then can you at least make your API public with your apps being first and best examples of how to use that API so others can fill the gap for you? Instead of a lot of "+1" and "me too" threads please show your support b
Dead spots on CR200
Hi there, Since upgrading to 3.1 my cr200 has become unresponsive in certain parts of the scree. For example if i try and adjust the treble in the music equalisation screen I cant move the slider. If I try and slide up and down using the A-Z slider at the RHS of my music index it stutters at E and jumps to M. I have contacted Sonos who suggested that I reset the controller but to know avail. Any ideas? Frazer
best way to connect Play 5 to TV
Currently connecting my play 5 to my TV via Line-in cable to audio out. The sound is good, but feels a little flat (less bass, lower volume) than when I play through spotify with WiFi. Is there a better way to connect to the TV? I've got the sonos App turned up to 10 on the line-in options.
Sonos Arc Samsung Frame TV eARC not working
So I just set up the Sonos Arc soundbar that supports eARC. It works with my 2020 65" Frame TV until I change the eARC setting on the Frame TV to Auto. The sound mutes and I can't get it to play until I turn eARC off. Anyone else have this issue? I’ve messed around with this for a few hours to no avail.
New LG TV's and 5.1 pass through
I know this is a recurrent topic, but I actually believe it would be very helpful if Sonos address this issue in a concise webpage with continuous updates. Right now the whole forum is full of questions about TV's ability to pass-through a 5.1 HDMI signal. The (so voted) most helpful comment on amazon about the playbar is about the problem of not getting a real surround but an artificial constructions from a PCM 2.0 signal from the TV. And this is also the main issue mentioned in CNET for the review of the playbar. So, guys, could you make a systematic and compressive study/review of which TV's will work with the Sonos surround system? I'm currently considering to get a full sonos surround pack, but I cant not make a decision before knowing if my LG 65UB930T (LG65UB9500 in USA) is able to pass the signal form the devices connected to the HDMI ports. And I believe this situation is generalized for all potential consumers, many of them buying your product without being aware o
DTS, Dolby 5.1 on Playbar, 2015 edition!
Hi all I am writing this post in the hope it may help those struggling with the above issue(s). The first topic which appears on this in Google is the post at https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/solving-the-51-dts-issues-with-the-playbar-34523, which is now out of date. For my part I wanted to set out what I did to "resolve" this issue (or more accurately, work around it). Since the above post, Sonos have written a few useful notes. The most helpful is: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1945/~/maximizing-playbar-sound-from-your-television. A further note deals with the XBOX work around (https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2490/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDQxMjA4NzE0L3NpZC9JdER6cXR2bQ%3D%3D) and another provides the details for PS4 (https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3075/related/1). The Issue Playbar with 2 Play:1s and a Sub is a 5.1 Surround system. However, because the Playbar connects through a Digitial Out/T
Sonos One - Connecting to TV
Hey, I'm on the fence about jumping into the Sonos community with two Sonos Ones. I'm almost convinced but there's one thing holding me back. Can I use the Sonos ones to play out of my TV, as well as playing music? For example, playing Netflix or Amazon via a Google Chromecast OR screen mirroring to the TV via an Apple TV - can I wirelessly connect the Sonos Ones to play out audio in these scenarios? Thanks! Gully
Sonos support for Apple Music's Lossless Audio
Announcement: https://www.apple.com/ca/newsroom/2021/05/apple-music-announces-spatial-audio-and-lossless-audio/ Now that Apple Music has joined the “lossless club”, can we please hear from Sonos as to whether this will be supported, and, if it will be, approximately when that may occur? Thanks.
Big difference between Play:1 and Play:3
Hello all, I am thinking about buying a Sonos Play:1. Now I just I would order one and start listening....but they're sold out everywhere (in Holland that is). So now I am reading countless reviews just because I have some extra time ( ;-) )....and thinking what would be the best thing to do. Is there a big difference between a Sonos Play:1 and the bigger Play:3 ? Main usage would be in my living room (30m2) streaming from my Synology NAS and Internet Radio. I've got an Ultimate Ears Boombox as well, but don't like the size and the Bluetooth dropouts. Also I think i'll love the connectivity from Sonos. What do you guys think?
Arc TV sound cuts in and out.
Just got the Arc and have it paired with 2 Play:1’s and a gen 3 sub. Samsung Q80R tv. The sound from the tv will play for around 5 seconds and then cut out for around 1 second, play for 5, out for 1, on and on. I’ve swapped out the hdmi cable twice, tried unplugging the tv, switched between PCM and DD+ and switched between different apps on the tv. The sonos app shows that I am getting an atmos signal Was running a beam with the Play:1’s (but no sub) before just fine. Not sure what I should try next. Thank you, mike
Need Outdoor Speakers
I know there has been a lot of request's for outdoor Sonos systems. I enjoy your product throughout my house and do not feel like getting below quality third party outdoor speakers and a connect or amp to drive them. I believe it is just time to develop an outdoor rated soffit speaker se we can enjoy Sonos quality audio on our Patio, instead of plugging and unplugging a Play 1 or 5 every time we go outside and linking it up to our phones, way easier to carry around a Bluetooth, but then you lose out on the Sonos sound quality. I understand they have been researching this for like 3 years, time to take a leap and be proactive as I believe this would be a huge selling point for Sonos, instead of urging us to buy competitors products. I believe that when Sonos recommends this, most people skip out of buying the Connecticut and/or Amp and buy a complete separate Bluetooth or other system when makes it a pain in the ass to have so many sound systems that could easily be averted by produci
"Your Sonos System Not Found" after it was already connected and playing
My system has been connected and having no problems. Then I started getting fairly regular error messages on all my controllers "Your Sonos System Not Found". Then the controller functionality returns and I hit play again... only to see that same system not found message 5-10 minutes later. I'd love some help trouble shooting this problem.
Recommendations on Optical Audio Switcher for Playbar?
Someone recommended an automatic 2 input optical audio switcher in one of the original playbar threads. It was from monoprice and the link is dead, and a search on monoprice makes it look like it's discontinued with nothing else up in its place. I'm buying a new TV soon but based on what research I've done, it's impossible to be certain any TV I buy will have proper 5.1 optical switching. 99% chance it will not have it in spite of what people casually report on the internet. So, I'll need to buy an optical audio switcher. I need to route at least three inputs, ideally four to help future proof me. And it needs to support 5.1. It does me no good if it downgrades the signal to 2.x. I'm also debating over whether I should just buy another A/V receiver. I sold my old A/V receiver with my old 5.1 speaker set when I bought my playbar. As ridiculous as it sounds (and actually is), my best bet may be to buy a cheap $100 to $200 A/V receiver and use that for all my audio routing to the
Why is Connect more expensive than Play?
I just got my first pair of Sonos units - two Play:3's for the kitchen and bedroom and I absolutely love them. I'm not a huge audiophile, but the convenience and total plug 'n play nature of Sonos is what attracted me to it. Of course the next thing that occured to me was how to get this connected up to my stereo. What I don't understand is why the basic Connect is $349 while the Play:3 units are $299 each. I mean if anything it seems like a Connect is just a Play:3 without the speakers and amp? Why does it cost so much more for fewer features? Seems like the guts of the connect should be a $99 unit - I meant he appleTV is $99, and it does way more (At least in terms of technological capability - video/etc) than the connect. To be honest I've been drooling over Sonos for years - and I know the quality is very high, but the expense of the units has always put me off. It wasn't until the Play:3 that I felt like there was enough bang-for-the-buck to justify diving in... I'm proba
