I've connected my Playbar to my router via ethernet cable. As the playbar doesn't have a line in to connect directly to echo. How do I get my echo, which is connected to my (same) wifi router to connect to sonos? The echo app only seems to look for bluetooth, which I believe is not a feature on sonos. I also have a Play1.
I've failed twice trying to get an auxiliary wireless way in to my Sonos system. Is there a solution? I sometimes wish to listen to music on webpages (like Bandcamp before purchasing) and for that purpose I've tried connecting both a Bluetooth Reciever and Airplay/Airport Express to my Connect line in. But both setups have failed. It seems impossible to get sound without major interruptions. I realize the wireless traffic is increased since it is: Basestation to computer - computer to Bluetooth and then the ordinary Sonos traffic. But is this really to much for making it work? Especially Bluetooth shouldn't consume too much bandwidth. Wifi Router is perhaps 4-5 meters from computer, computer has been between one to three meters when trying. Why isn't this working. The interruptions I get are major. Completely useless audio.
Is anybody able to use the limited UPnP server option available in Sonos? ie. Manage|Settings|Advanced|MusicSouces|ShowRhapsodyUPnPServers Are you able to browse the server? Are you able to queue albums? Which media server are you using? Or, is anyone successfully browsing and queuing albums using Sonos' "Show Windows Media Server" option? I would like experiment a little with these, but am having trouble finding anything which works.
This topic should assist with pairing multiple devices connected via HDMI on the Smart Hub to use the Sonos Playbar through the Optical Connection. Once the TV has been completely setup. Ensure that the Sonos optical cable is connected to the Samsung Smart Hub. These settings will only allow you to use the remote for volume control on the devices connected on the HDMI Ports, it will not allow you to control them via Samsung's Anyconnect option. If you need to control a device using the Anyconnect feature, then ignore setting up that HDMI port. Hi everyone, I currently have a bar and sub in the lounge, 5 in the living room and 1 in the kitchen. I want to add a player in my shed, but my WiFi does not connect on my phone down there. I have power, but I have read that powerline extensions are a no no with Sonos. I struggle with tech and WiFi networks etc, so I was hoping that someone might be able to give me some guidance. My internet is via phone line as there is not cable down our road. The WiFi router is pretty poor, the signal is shit even though the house is tiny. My shed is around 20m from the house. And as it stands I can't pick up any WiFi at all. The shed does have power in it. But I have read that powerlines don't really work with Sonos. I think that I might need some sort of WiFi booster but I have no idea what i need and where to get it from. If it would make things much better then I can run a LAN cable if required, although this would be a massive ball ache. Ideally I want a simple plug
The last 2 months has been a disaster. Every since the alarm issue in Dec of 16 my system has gone to pot. Let me clarify that I've been with Sonos as an early adopter probably close to 10 years now so I've got experience in how it used to be. I have multiple units including 1 soundbar, 1 sub, 6 plays, 7 connect amps, 2 bridges and 1 boost. First there was this alarm issue and the solution was to wait until the new year and that would fix it. Proactive for sure. Ever since the alarm meltdown my sonosnet has been spotty to say the least. Yesterday with most of my system being unreachable or unplayable or not being able to group units I decided to move from Sonosnet to my wireless as the backbone. I'd always used and been happy with sonosnet but I believe all things change and perhaps it was time. Boy was that a mistake. Once all units showed up as ready I hit party mode and guess what, half of the units weren't added. A few tries later and every unit but one would come on
Please help, does anyone have the correct settings required for using wired sonos components on a Netgear GS724T V3 smart managed switch. I have recently extended my Sonos system which now includes 4no. Connect Amps, 1no. Connect, 1no. Play3, 1no. Play1, Playbar & Sub. I have the ability to "hard wire" all the Sonos equipment to the switch via my home network which works ok for 1/2 an hour or so and then it crashes the network. Having read up on the forum i have found various article referring to "spanning tree protocol" but nothing that relates exactly to my Netgear Switch. I can revert to the wireless setup with one sonos component connected to the switch acting as the bridge but would prefer to utilise the wiring available in my home network.
Hi All. I'm relatively new to Sonos as of last year. My query is how to add artwork to Artist Folders on a shared drive. My setup is via a NAS drive. Now i'm not talking about Album Artwork. This displays fine. What I am talking about is when browsing my Music Library which is on a NAS Network drive and scrolling though Artist selection there does not appear to be anyway to display artwork on a folder to display on the sonos app. I tried everything from embedding artwork to the folder itself but no joy. Looking at other posts from 2013 has suggested it is not possible? Surely this is not the case?
There are a couple of other threads in the forums about people having problems using their Sonos system after updating their WiFi to the new Google WiFi mesh network. I wanted to share my experience as well, especially if you also are on Google Fiber. I am on Google Fiber in Kansas City. My entire home network was working just fine... I have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 wireless router configured as a an access point. I only switched to Google's WiFi ($300) because I am an early adopter. When I switched, setup of the Google WiFi three access points was easy. Things were working great and I was getting decent speeds. The problem is, I couldn't use my Sonos controller on my iPhone or iPad any more. So I went through a lot of trial and error and never got it figured out. I factory reset my Sonos bridge and turned off all of my Sonos speakers to try a fresh install. No matter what I tried, the iOS device connected to my Google WiFi could never see the Sonos bridge, even though it was h
I have an Echo dot going into the line in of my Play5 in my bedroom. I've grouped it with my living room (Playbar plus SUB) before, but it's not grouped now. I'll be listening to Sirius radio as the source in my living room, for example, and all of a sudden it just jumps to the line in source from my bedroom - totally randomly, and it happens periodically throughout the day. I'm not sure if Alexa is "waking up" for some reason and starting to play something, but it shouldn't matter; because as a result of this problem also occurring in the bedroom (play5 just starts playing randomly in the other room), I always have that on mute. I can't figure out why this is happening. I'm going to start removing culprits, one at-a-time, like unplugging the Echo Dot and see if it keeps switching sources, and maybe even reset the controller; but this is really getting annoying. This is pretty much a call-out, to see if anyone else has seen such funkiness.
Sonos says "For podcasts to show up in the Sonos app under "On this Mobile Device," they must reside in the 'Podcasts' folder on your Android controller. The podcasts folder should be in the root directory of your Android device" What does "reside in the Podcasts folder" mean? That all the media files for all podcasts have to be in that foldre? Can there be subfolders? Has anyone gotten this to work?
First off, I LOVE SONOS! I've had the system for 3 years now. Been experiencing some issues lately and in reading threads in the community, I've become a bit over loaded with tech speak/potential issues with my system...so...thought I'd toss this out to the community and see if I can streamline the education/approach to my issues. Our system consists of: 2 Play 5's, 4 Play 3's, 3 Play 1's, a Sound Bar and a Sub Verizon Router and 2 WAP's Our router is located in our detached garage and we have two WAP's in the house. In the middle of the house sits our Sound Bar, Sub and WAP #1. WAP#1 is 2' from the sub and Sound Bar and it is Ethernet connected to the sub. There are 3 Sonos speakers east of WAP #1 and 2 between WAP #1 and WAP #2 with a third speaker, a Play3 Ethernet connected to it. (They sit side by side, virtually touching). Just wanted to share my experience with setting up my Sonos Play 5 with an Aruba WiFi controller. After many hours of tcpdump'ing and connecting the Sonos to wired networks (with everything working perfectly!), I found that by default, Aruba WiFi controllers (mine is a 225 running version 22.214.171.124-126.96.36.199_57496) drop broadcast & multicast traffic between attached wireless clients, which is used by the Sonos Controller app to find the Sonos. There is a setting in the Virtual Controller under "Networks" (usually the name of the SSID you've created), WLAN Settings (click "Show Advanced options"), then "Broadcast Filtering". Mine was set to "All", and a quick change to "Disabled" + reboot, the app now found the Sonos with ease. Sonos have had a form of AirPlay support for quite some time but frankly it has always been a disappointing kludge even if it got the job done. For those unaware the current and [i]only[/i] solution involves buying an Apple AirPort Express WiFi basestation, you then connect the audio output from the AirPort Express to the audio input on a Sonos device. You would then AirPlay stream to the AirPort Express and it outputs to the Sonos. This of course means spending more money for an AirPort Express or even several but also adds an extra device in the link with the possibility of additional overhead and small audio quality loss. In reality it was 'good enough'. Unfortunately Apple have just discontinued both the AirPort Express and the AirPort Extreme. (The Extreme could not do this as it does not have an audio output.) No other device has ever offered this functionality. This means that going forwards it will effectively be impossible to use AirPlay audio streaming with Sonos. (I ca
So this is extremely annoying and I am extremely frustrated with the producr to date. I have had these device almost 2 years now for the most part, and have been having this issue the last year. So the issue is with the application or the speaker itself. About 4 months ago, I upgraded our home Wireless internet with a new router/modem repeaters, etc. i thought this was the issue with the connectivity. Apperently thats not the issue, because it is happening to date. Hi support, I have an issue where I can't get surround speakers to work with my current computer/Sonos setup. I've read a lot of stuff on the issue but couldn't find a satisfying answer. I own a playbar, 2xPlay:1s and they are configured as surround system in my sonos controller. So I have this computer hooked up on my Samsung TV (Model: PN51F5300) with a HDMI cable. It has an Asus P6X58D-E motherboard with AMD 6770 gpu. The playbar is connected on my tv through the optical cable. I suspect my tv doesn't relay anything else than PCM/2.0. When I go into sound settings of the tv, I only have the option of PCM. The other option doesn't output any sound. I have a number of Sonos amps around the house, with two being connected to different switch ports. My network kept slowing down, dropping out, then coming back on again after a few moments. Basically, my whole network was virtually unusable, and this went on for months. Eventually I traced the issue to the Sonos system on my network. When I unplugged a whole floor in my house from the switch, I miraculously could still see the servers on that floor, be it with an incredibly slow response. WOW. I traced this to the Sonos systems being connected wirelessly and passing my normal network traffic between them. This created 2 separate paths to many devices on my network: 1 via the hard wired switch ports, and 2 via the wireless connection on the Sonos. Who would have thought that Sonos acts as a wireless bridge for my standard network traffic. It seems that this caused to intermittently drive my whole network traffic through a much slower Sonos wireless connection, which I measured at aroun
I'm scratching my head here. I have a surround setup with a Playbar up front and two Play 5s in the back: Music is the priority, movies when it's chilly at night. Play 5s have an aux input, which is a solid reason why I forced over the extra cash (sound is obviously the other). Plugging in the turntable (has a preamp), or anything for that matter, doesn't allow me to select "Aux In" on the app. Have tried countless times, tried the other speaker, resetting the whole system, resetting the controller, nothing works. But... If I plug just one play 5 into the turntable and not group it to the system during initial setup... It works. But as soon as I add it into the group, aux no more. Anyone have ideas or suggestions in their similar setup? Really boggled here!
I have a challenge for anyone up to the task. Not a straightforward arrangement so I have attached a diagram which I hope makes sense. (They say a picture paints a thousand words ) I live in the country and have little or no broadband. I therefore use an EE Huawei E5180s-22 4G LTE 150Mbps Router Cube. I place this in the bedroom as it gets the best 4G signal here ( Up to 32mb ) I have cable from the back of this router to my office, which is where most of my tech lives. In my office I have an RJ45 splitter box which then connects my iMac, Lightwave system and Netgear Arlo home security system. I also connect in to a TP link power extender at this point which then provides good coverage throughout my house on all floors. I have a play 1, 3 & 5 in the house which I have set up using the ethernet cable and used all of these speakers wirelessly when I first set up the system. We have wifi through a Verizon Jetpack, does anyone know how to successfully connect Sonos through the jetpack? It looks like I cannot set the Jetpack to a static IP address, instead it applies a different IP to each device connected. I did not know if there is a way to create the static IP through my laptop and connect Sonos through that? If anyone has successfully connected a Sonos System by using the Verizon Jetpack, I'd appreciate your thoughts/information! (I have a Sonos 1, if that information is relevant).
I currently have a TV audio out connecting to the interface module of a Cinemate Series II on SPDIF. I am exploring the following scenario - 1. Connect TV out to Connect Line-in through analog 2. Connect Connect out to Cinemate in through SPDIF I have been reading aplenty and spoke to the Sonos support, and have been getting different responses (including 2 variations from Sonos support). Will this scenario above - 1. Work? 2. Not work? 3. Work with the 70ms delay? For the moment, lets assume a single room scenario.
