Streaming music quality from standalone Soundbar vs Play3
I just got delivery of a Soundbar, which is hooked up to TV but is also to be used as the music player in my lounge (previously I've used a single Play3 for music in the Lounge). TV sound through the Playbar is fine, but when playing streaming music (Spotify etc) the audio is not a good as the Play3 (at least to my ears!). Compared to the Play3, the Soundbar is distinctly lacking in bass and generally the sound is less "full". Based simply on the increased separation and total number of speakers (and cost!) I'd expected the Soundbat to sound better than Play3. I've tried playing with the loudness setting and the equalisation on the Soundbar, but still can't get the same fullness of sound (particularly the bass) that the Play3 has. I'm wondering if there's some setting I've missed which will improved music quality? I assume that the Soundbar knows that there is no sub and should adjust its bass accordingly? Has anyone else had a similar experience and was a solution fo
Using SONOS without an internet connection
I know this sounds an odd thing to do but I need to setup a SONOS without any internet connection. I have a Connect:amp with two wired speakers. I also have a 2tb headless unit to act as a server for music. In addition 2 x Play3 speakers. I plan to control this all using an Apple iPad. My question is this what do I need to connect them altogether. I do not intend using it for any streaming services but more as a jukebox, if that makes sense? Any help/advice is welcome.
Bose 3·2·1® GS home entertainment system with Connect AMP/Connect
I have an old Bose 3·2·1® GS home entertainment system and would like to use the speakers with my Play 5. Does anyone know if I can use the speakers that came with this system with a Connect AMP/Connect? My current set-up includes Play 5, using a Boost.
Temporarily reconfiguring Sonos speakers
Hi I've got a playbar and two sonos play 1 speakers. One play1 is in the bedroom while the other one is in the kitchen/dinning room. The playbar is in the lounge. The kitchen/dinning/lounge is one large open space. How can I temporarily add the play1 from the bedroom to create a stereo system in the kitchen/dining area? How can I temporarily configure the two play1 as the surround speakers for the playbar? And how do you undo these changes?
Is Boost stronger than a wired Playbar?
I have 10 speakers in 6 zones, including a Playbar with subwoofer and two rear 3s. Another 5, 3 x 3s, and a paired set of 1s. The Playbar is wired to my router, first floor of 2600 foot on 2 floors and with a lot of concrete. Services such as Sirius, Spotify etc. all work fine. But using line-in on the 5 (to play Audible Audiobooks because missing the long-promised integration has yet to materialize), I get a fair amount of cutouts in grouped speakers. I am fairly furious about the lack of Audible integration being solved, and don't really want to purchase more product. But if a Boost would solve my cutout problem so my kids can finally listen to audiobooks again at bedtime, perhaps will purchase. Is the Boost any better than the SonosNet created by my wired Playbar? Ready to scrap the whole damn thing and get my kids Echos to solve this Audible problem.
Buying a Sonos system - what would you get?
My situation is I'm planning to buy a Playbar for my tv, etc and two Play:1s for other rooms. My place is under 700 sq. ft. and I don't think I need more than that. All my music, which is constantly on in my place, is on an iPod Classic that still works great, my laptop and iTunes Match. I'm convinced one day that Sonos and iTunes Match will somehow be friends, but when...? So here is what I'm debating, trying to balance expense vs. future system improvements and additions: -Buy an iPod touch and download all of my music on it (likely would get a 64GB) -Buy a Connect and line-in my iPod Classic -Boy a Play:5 and line-in my iPod Classic One day I may add a turntable and/or cd player to the mix. I think I'm leaning toward the Connect. What would you recommend? Thanks!
Connect:AMP - can it go to idle mode when line in connected?
I saw the following on this site. Does this mean my AMP will never go into idle if I have my TV connected to its line in? "Idle is defined as audio muted or paused on all players in the household for at least 3 minutes, no cables are connected to Line-In jacks, and no optical signal is being actively fed to a PLAYBAR (in most cases, this means that the TV is off)."
New Home Construction
I am building a three story home and would like in ceiling speakers in the following areas: Basement: Living room, bedroom #4, Bedroom #5 First Floor: (Living Room & Kitchen) , outside deck, and garage Second Floor: Master bedroom, Bedroom #3 and Bedroom #2 The goal is that each of these rooms could be playing different music controlled by an individual. I am thinking of Klipsch speakers. My questions: 1) Do each of the klipsch speakers need speaker wire ran to connect Amp? 2) How many connnect amps will I need? 3) Why would I need wall mounted audio controls installed? I've seen this recommended. 4) are the speakers connected to the cat5 cables? 5) If I have multiple connect amps, can i still control them from one app for the entire house? 6) I believe I run the speaker wires to the connect amp, and then ethernet cable from connect amp to the cable modem. Any help I can get, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
I purchased the soundbar and don't have short term plans to add anything else (sub, surround). My TV does not output from HDMI to optical in Dolby 1) Will I get a different format or benefit if I still add a switch or am I only getting Stereo given my setup? I say this since when I play Netflix from the TV, it outputs to the soundbar as dolby and it seems to sound better. Should I be buying a switch? 2) Is there a small switch that you can recommend that can hide behind the tV that sits over my fireplace (not much space behind the tv)?
Hi, I've recently bought the playbar, it sounds really nice, and I'm planning on buying a sub next, even though the bass is actually very good for a soundbar. Anyway, the only thing it's bothering me, is that sometimes when people talk I hear a crackling sound, like if some speaker can't handle it. This is the setup: - only the playbar - Samsung UEJU48 - I use the optic output from the TV - volume is around 40%. - factory settings, nothing altered. The sound source is Netflix, it's not an old show (House of Cards), so I doubt it's bad sound quality. Not all voices produce this, I'd say less than 10% of the time, however is noticeable. Any suggestions/questions are welcome. Thanks.
URL to launch sonos and return to originating app
Hi, I applaud sonos for enabling the URL scheme to allow the an app (such a an home automation app) to launch the sonos app, but this is only have the job. Can we now also have a "return to originating app" button added to the sonos controller. Its possible at least in IOS as CasaTunes has this included in their controller. here's a link describing this with Roomie Remote and casaTunes http://www.casatunes.com/multi-room-audio/index.php/product-tour/roomie/ quote "Simply add a Roomie Activity for listening to your CasaTunes music, add a Roomie Command of type URL, and configure the URL to launch the CasaTunes App when pressed. When launched, the CasaTunes App will display a back button with an optional custom label you supply, which when pressed will return control back to your Roomie

Got two new Play 1s, but sound doesn't sync with my Playbar and sub... Help!
I already had my Playbar and sub connected with with my TV before now. Today, received and try to connect my two new Play 1s. When I music from my Sonos app from my phone, it plays from the two new Play 1s, but not from the playbar and sub. Conversely, when I play the TV, the sounds comes out from the playbar and sub, but not from either of the Play 1s. Before now Ive only used the playbar and sub for tv sound and never played music from my phone. Any ideas how to sync the whole speakers so that whether I play music from my tv or from the Sonos app on my phone, all speakers produce sound?
Connecting Sonos Amp to 4 speakers- will it reduce quality of sound?
Hello Everyone, I am new to Sonos. I just purchased a Sonos Connect music streaming device yesterday and connected it to my 28 year old Sony GX60ES Receiver and I am thrilled with being able to stream all my music from my iPhone! It works extremely well! However, I have a few questions about my speaker set up with 4 speakers and whether or not I should keep the Sony GX60ES receiver or switch to a Sonos Connect AMP. Below are the details: I just purchased 2 Bowers and Wilkins ceiling speakers to put into the kitchen ceiling. Here are the specs for the speakers: Bowers & Wilkins - CCM 683 8" 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair) RMS Power 130 Watts impedance8 ohms Peak Power Handling130 watts Minimum Frequency Response35 hertz Maximum Frequency Response50 kilohertz Sensitivity88 decibels My plan is to have these 2 ceiling speakers hard wired to my 28 year old Sony GX60ES Receiver that has power output 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and frequency response 5-50 h
Connecting play 1's to Samsung smart tv
Hi, I currently have a playbar and 2 play 1's for the sound on my tv, I was playing yesterday and in error managed to get the tv sound out of the play 1's and not the playbar. I have always believed that this is not possible and at the time the playbar was not connected to the router, so how did this happen?
Can a connect amp run both a pair of wired in speakers and 3 sonos play 1 wireless speakers?
I have wires set up for two outdoor speakers and 3 sonos play 1's that I would like to add to out exhisting sonos system. Our exhisting system has a sonos connect running an amp that conrols 6 sets of ceiling speakers and a radio. Can the sonos amp run two wired in speakers and three sonos play 1's? What specs on the speakers do I need to look for to be compatible with the sonos amp? Or what would I need to add two wired in speakers and three sonos play 1's to our exhisting system?
2 Samsung TV's and SONOS
Hi there, I own 2 Samsung tv's; one in the livingroom and one in the kitchen (it's a space without walls, 60m2), and want to buy a SONOS set. My thoughts: - TV livingroom: 2x PLAY5, 1x PLAYBAR, 1x SUB - TV kitchen: 1x PLAY5 In the livingroom I want to use the standard configuration as descripted above, but in the kitchen I want to connect the TV through 3,5mm jack to use the single PLAY5. When I play music f.e. with Spotify and don't use any tv, I want to use the whole system (all PLAY5, PLAYBAR and SUB). Possible? Or is there a better configuration to achieve the best result? Thanks in advance!
How do I download new Android Beta? (No e-mail received)
My Android controller informs me that there's a beta update available, but when I try to install it I get a message saying I should follow the instructions in an e-mail. I have received no e-mail, so cannot proceed. And before you ask, yes, I've checked my spam folder! There's a similar thread here, but the links given are for a previous version.
