"Updating Music Library - Please Wait"
I have just installed a new computer. Moved my music to a new drive. Upon adding the folder to my Sonos controller on the PC I have a "Updating Music Library - Please Wait" message. It's been stuck there for a few hours now. I am on a windows 8.1 desktop computer.
5.2 = Another disappointment?
Got really excited when I saw support for multiple..... thinking it would be music libraries. But no, the system still can't handle multiple users / music libraries, and STILL doesn't search Contributing Artists (unlike Andronos on Android and SonoPad / Sonophone on iPad and iPhone. C'mob Sonos, get it sorted. Really and truthfully, how hard can it be?
Can Sonos connect to 802.11n or 802.11ac in wireless mode?
Hello, I just got my first Sonos, play 5, really enjoying it. I didn't buy the bridge and have it connected in wireless mode to my AP. I had to change the configuration to support b/g. Is there a plan to support 802.11n/ac? In order to support n or ac, I am wondering if it will be a different hardware or another firmware/software update? TIA
More Amazon Echo Thoughts
I really like my Echo but it is limited - needs more apps.... I really, really hope (really, really, really) a Sonos app becomes available for the Echo - I would add another one no problem. I love my Sonos - and normally I dislike voice control but Echo is far superior to others. So let's keep our fingers crossed.
Simple button only hardware controller
I'd like to replace my kitchen radio with a sonos player. But there's one thing that is holding me back; I need a phone/tablet to use a sonos player. My radio has hardware buttons and that is a HUGE advantage in a kitchen environment. With 9 fingers messy from preparing food/whatever i can use my one clean finger to press power followed by a channel preset. This is a PAIN as it is today with a sonos system. I know there's buttons on the players, but 1: you cant pick a favorite/playlist, 2: your player(s) might me mounted out of reach. So; a small hardware unit with 3(ish) preset buttons that also powers on the player(s). Volume up/down and a pause/power off button. You could combine preset button long press with power-off/pause to save a button, but the affordance is a bit bad with this approach (it might be to hard for the average user to find out how to use the feature). The unit would have to be setup in the mobile/pc app; what playlist/favorite does each preset button play and wha
Why won't Sonos allow wireless audio streaming for movies from Mac/PC?
This has been a long requested feature for years. Why limit the listening experience to music only? I love the sound when pairing two Play Ones. I wanted to keep them, but the fact I couldn't also stream the sound of my movies from my MacBook was a deal breaker. Why would I want to invest hundreds or thousands on a system that's limited to music only. I have a MacBook Pro, and I watch plenty of movies. Why should I have to buy additional speakers from another company just to enjoy movies? No one should have to resort to buying a play5 only to plug it into an airport express through the auxport. No one wants any more wires sticking out of their speakers. Using the auxport defeats the purpose of a wireless solution. Why won't Sonos allow software driver based audio output through their PC/Mac controllers that will allow any app to stream audio. For example, I want to run VLC player or Divx movie player and have the audio stream through the Sonos system. Can we get an ex
How do I stop update requests?
I'm a long-time Sonos user who is very disappointed that Sonos has made my iPad1 (four of them) incompatible with the latest update. I understand not being able to use the latest features, but to make them completely unusable to me is bad policy (in conjunction with Apple). Anyway, I have declined to update to the latest update (I currently have two iPhone 5/6 along with the four iPad1). My question is how do I stop Sonos from nagging me to update? Every few times I go into the app, I get the update message. I thought there was a way to stop those alerts. If so, how? Thanks
I have an active network: devices being added and taken away, new sources of RF interference & neighbours changing wifi channels. A frequent piece of advice is "you must power absolutely everything in the network off and on again", or "power on and off Sonos devices". With a reasonably large house, or devices in awkward locations this can be hassle. It would be convenient if there was a remote restart switch that could cycle Sonos devices, say a "restart in X minutes".
Still looking for an in-wall keypad solution?
I've owned Sonos products for almost a year now and they are great. However, I still find myself wanting an in-wall keypad mounted solution like what I used to have. If we're having dinner, I don't have a smartphone or tablet nearby. It was easier with the old sytem of going to over to the wall, pressing a few buttons to get music in a room. Does Sonos have any plans or are there any 3rd party solutions for this?
Please Add HDMI ARC and DTS support to playbar
I would absolutely love to purchase a set up for my home theater based around the SONOS Playbar. I have one SONOS play 3 now and love it. However, the lack of support for a feature/technology that seems to be present on not only my current TV, but many of newer TVs I have looked at recently absolutely baffles me. For me, this support is a show stopper. I am looking to purchase my new home theater equipment by the end of 2015. Ideally any new functionality would also include support for 7.1 surround sound using additional Play 1 or Play 3's. Hopefully this support can be added by then, or I'll be looking to implement another solution for my home theater, and later whole home audio set up. I really hope SONOS is paying attention, I have seen numerous posts on here from other customers and dealers with very scant and shallow replies from SONOS. It really makes me hesitant to purchase SONOS products when I get the feeling that the company seems content to not be
Can Sonos provide a "history" feature?
I have found there is no "history" link or button in Sonos. Although Sonos is fantastic and next to miraculous in so many respects, not having a way to replay a track or retrieve a search is a real shortcoming. Once a number has been played one must re-do the search for the track or the album all over again. Has anyone found a way around this. I would like to petition Sonos to provide a "history" feature.
New play 1 won't connect to existing system
Hi there, I've just bought a third play 1 to add to the two I currently have connected to my Bridge. For some reason the new component is not connecting to the system when I press the play and vol up buttons as requested. I'm confused as the other two play1s are working fine. I have tried connecting using both my Android phone and my Mac, and the result is the same. The new component is definitely within range of the Bridge/router. Any ideas? Sonos app allows anybody to play/use if they have Wifi access. So if i share my wifi password with my guest he gets access to my Sonos set-up. With bridge we had to connect once with bridge, which was some what a security feature. Even better if we could control access to certain group of speakers. I don't want children/guest to use my bedroom speakers only their rooms and my be common areas.
Ants in my Sonos PLAY:1
I know it sounds utterly ridiculous, but there are ants living in my Sonos PLAY:1. As there's no easy way of opening it up, I can't try to kill them all, but they are constantly crawling out, and also seem to leave behind little black flecks of something. I assume they're eating something in the speaker (maybe the rubber?). Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but would love to hear from you if you have and have any advice, as I'm worried that the sound quality will start deteriorating as they eat away at the speaker. I've not had much luck with turning it off at the mains and leaving the speaker to cool down. They're still in there. FWIW I'm in London, UK, and it's getting into winter here - so it's not as though seeing lots of ants in any situation is a common occurrence, which makes this even more bizarre.
Playbar group all controlled with TV remote
I already spoke with Sonos support so I know it is not currently possible, but how would I go about requesting the following functionality be added? Currently I have a Playbar + two speakers in the rear of the room controlled by a Connect:AMP. If I set up the rear speakers as surrounds, I can control the 3 speakers with the TV remote but they will only work as surrounds in TV mode and I would like them to work in stereo (playing the same content as the playbar). I see that someone had requested the ability of these surrounds to play in stereo mode for music and that functionality has now been added to the software; playing the surrounds in "Full" mode instead of "Ambient", but that only applies to music and not TV. The other option of course is to use the rear speakers as a separate zone and group them with the Playbar. This gives me the effect I want (all stereo), but then the TV remote only controls the Playbar, and I have to use my phone to adjust the volume in the rea
