Since my Sonos app was updated to version 14.18.2 I get constant the following notification:

Sonos: Stopping the service may interrupt playback notifications

I can disable it if I uncheck the Background Services Notification, but this should not be the solution…

Samsung S21 Ultra running Android 13

Support says that the notification is “normal.”  Of course, it didn’t appear until recently, so, why does it appear now?  And how can it be normal when it’s clearly extraneous?  It’s true that the notification doesn’t appear to affect my system’s operation, but we should be able to remove the extraneous notification without having to shutdown all background notifications for the app.

Fix your goddamn app Sonos, this has been months and months. Wouldn't be so bad if you could clear the notification but you can't.  Work around doesn't seem to work on 15.1, now I can't see my controller.

Same issue for me, really annoying! Galaxy S21 android 13. Please fix

Same. Google Pixel 7 Pro.

And also 14.20.1 did not fix the issue….

Sonos does not care about Android users…. 😔

And this topic is not answered, only that somebody found a option in Android to kill the Sonos notifications does not mean the problem is solved.

Same for me.

Very frustrating considering I have updated some hardware in order to be 100% compatible with the S2 app.  I didnt have this issue with S1

Google Pixel 5

Same issue Pixel 7 Android 13 Sonos app 14.20.1

Seems to be symptomatic of a general decline, Sonos used to be so good, it always just worked. More recently it has become less reliable. Useless notifications in the app, products disappear from app but (sometimes) visible and useable in desktop controller, stereo pair separates for no obvious reason, sporadically slow app, hobbled desktop controller, Google assistant slow and unreliable on One and Roam. Was going to upgrade from Playbar to Arc, but not going to bother now.

This little bug does not bother me too much as it does not impact on playback at all.

I’m guessing Sonos will fix it like they did with the dots issue on the iOS app some time back.

Same issue here. Pixel 4.

Anyone else having blips while opening the app. Like the app is attempting to open over and over and over again. Takes about 10 seconds or more to settle down and work?

I get the same problem on a Samsung S21, a Samsung galaxy tab a, a Huawei MediaPad and a Lenova P11.  Very frustrating.

Hey guys,

On the Android device go to ‘Settings → Notifications → Sonos’, there toggle off "Background Services".

Hey guys,

This is a workaround (Set Android to ignore Sonos notifications)…

If there is a other issue with Sonos Services you will not get that notification because you disabled *all* background services notifications…

Sonos should fix this issue

So  I registered here to create a post about how this and when I was typing the Subject, it popped up and linked me to this thread where it has already been discussed, so let me just add myself to the list of Sonos users who really wish this would get fixed.

Not sure why we need this notification, not exactly groundbreaking info.  And I don’t want to turn off notifications, just want ability to not have THIS notification.

On a Pixel 7 if that helps at all...

Can we please get this fixed?

Somehow it’s now getting worse for me in the sense that I clear it after I open it up and then a few minutes later it just pops back up, whereas before it only seemed to come up when I first opened the App.  Super annoying for an otherwise fantastic product and software.

So I made a short little video to illustrate how ridiculous and frustrating this is in real life usage:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PPAWl05RNcZohbmGmQdToYkvXc4OGZho/view?usp=sharing

PLEASE fix this. And, to be clear, an actual fix and not some stop-gap ‘just turn off all of your notifications’ as has been suggested here in this thread.  The biggest selling point when I tell people about Sonos is the fantastic Software -- from initial setup, to general everyday use, it’s been fantastic and why my entire house is littered with Sonos products.  But this, to put it plainly, sucks.  It sucks and it’s an obvious problem that a lot of people are experiencing that didn’t occur before.  PLEASE FIX IT.

Im done.

SUPER disappointed.  It's been at least 4 months.  Such a silly issue to let linger.

Was a little excited when I saw the official Era pre-orders, but not upgrading.  Might sound over the top -- the speakers are great, but what always tipped the scales for me to Sonos was the software.  But stuff like this is beyond annoying.

Google Pixel 5

I still have S1 and see the same annoying notification as everyone else.

This silent absenteeism to such a basic and obvious issue almost leaves me yearning for other companies' generic, and **, 'thanks for sharing your concern and we will take it into consideration.'

Like, at least lie to us so we know it's known, lol.

What an embarrassment. Such a dumb issue to have.

I have the same so glad it's not just me. Maybe a bit of a bug?

I'm Android too - version 12

I have the same message S10+ Android 12

Same for me.  Wondering if it’s related to the fact that SONOS suddenly can’t find the path to the music on my local computer for each new song.  And there’s also the Pocket Casts problem that’s acknowledged on their status page.
The last update has just kind of broken my system…. wish we could just roll it back.

Same issue on a redmi note 10 running miui 12.

Appears constantly.

Clearly a bug.

Same issue on Galaxy Fold 4. Not a huge deal, but it shouldn't be there. Not a huge fan of notifications that serve no purpose and I can't get rid of. Hopefully this is a bug that gets fixed soon.

Seeing this as well, but I've hidden the notification type. One positive thing I'm seeing is that the mini player notification is actually sticking around which hasn't worked in a long time.

I came here to post the same thing. It's annoying to have two icons, but at least the mini player hasn't disappeared all day.

Me Too. I turned OFF notifications.

It wouldn't bother me so much if the notification meant something, and did something when you press it, but it just permanently sits there cluttering up your phone's notifications. Unacceptable.

It does mean something. The notification keeps background services alive that the Android app relies on.

Hallo,

I didn't turn off ALL notifications of Sonos only backgroundservices.

Maybe it works for others.

Yeah that worked for me. Seems like the best fix for this right now
