HISENSE 65K5510 Does'nt detect optical cable
Hi, I've just purchased a new TV above as per the title and for the life of cannot get it to connect to the tv via optical cable. I've tried both setting that are shown on the tv audio menu namely PCM and RAW, HISENSE manual says to choose RAW for sound bars where as PCM is for an AMP. but i still cant get it to detect, there is a red light shining out of the cable when i remove it from the playbar so i think the cable is ok. Is there anything else i can do get this sorted or another way of connecting to this TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Andy
PlayBar and distance to Surrounds
HI All, So my neighbors have a PlayBar and just added two Play1s as surrounds, Everything works great and sounds amazing when they are using them for TV. During cocktail hour they want to take one of the Play1s outside to listen to music. So I thought the easiest way is to leave them bounded to the PlayBar and just take them out side. The distance to the PlayBar is maybe 5 meters but, there is a wall in between the PlayBar and the Play1 (when it is outside on the outside cocktail table). Well the Play1 is just breaking up as it is just a little to far from the PlayBar (I think) They do have a Boost in the system and it is near the PlayBar. If I did not bound the Play1s to the PlayBar I am thinking they would play fine but, that is a real hassle to bound and unbound them every cocktail hour. The easiest thing to to buy another Play1 Any thoughts on the best way to do this? Thanks
Sonos with wired speakers or not
Yep - I'm a newbie here :) and after seeing a showcase (friend of mine) I'm quite impressed about the sound and the simplicity of Sonos system. Problem is a year ago I bought myselve some Bose speakers (6 double) secondhanded from another friend and my goal was - when I had some free time - to hang these speakers in all corners to have some better surround sound. Now after comparing the 2 systems (Bose/Sonos) I prefer to take the Sonos system but here my simple question: Should I use these Bose speakers additionally with sonos speakers or not? If I replace these speakers with the sonos ones (1play or 3play) then I have problems with the powercords in each corner... so thats is why I prefer to use these boxes (who doesn't need power cords). If the answer is "Yes, use them" then my next question is: what do I need to connect these speakers to sonos? (I only have a Yamaha - RX v667 receiver, decoder/TV) Tx in advance! Raey
Dolby Digital 5.1 Plus Support (Netflix, Vudu)
I've read the countless threads about DTS support and the fact there are no plans -- which to some degree I understand. I also read a similar thread from 2014 -- 2 years on and there's nothing? Given that Netflix & Vudu -- two of the biggest streaming services in the world are predominantly using DD Plus 5.1 is there ANY hope that something to at least downmix to a 5.1 format (DD) would be added? Things like Atmos & even DTS I can understand, but at this point given the $1500+ investment in a Sonos 5.1 setup -- being able to deal with DD 5.1 Plus seems like a big deal. It's hard to justify the investment if I have to default to Stereo on both Vudu & Netflix. If the bandwidth issues over optical are an issue there really should be some other solution that doesn't have us at Stereo from a 5.1 source. Has there been any word on this? I'm thinking of returning the Playbar + Sub + Play 1s I got as I wasn't aware this was such a headache.
Line in for Play1 and Play3
First post. I very recently purchased a Play3 unit I was weighing up the pro's and con's of a Play3 vs a Play5. Play3 had the looks, price and size going for it. Play5 had the superior sound and line in socket in its favour. This latter feature, the line in socket, was a particular issue for me as without it I think my CD collection will go the same way as my vinyl collection went, stored and then got rid of if I do not keep playing them. My eventual buying decision was to go for the less expensive Play3 and park the CD issue. If I am happy with Play3 I may well purchase the Play5 at a future date. My feedback to SONOS is - with the switch to streaming there will be many like me who have 100's if not 1000's of CD's and even if they are all available on services like Spotify, they will still want to keep their cherished CD collection and be able to play them. Surely installing a 3.5mm line in socket in the Play3 and Play1 is not such a big ask and would be seen as a generous
Until tonight I have always regarded the Sonos system as a music system which was only linked to the outside world if I wanted to make use of such music services as Apple Music and the like. It never occurred to me that Sonos would be more intrusive ... until tonight when I started the app on my Mac. I was told to update otherwise the system would become crippled. The only thing that appeared to be new is a message service that now works within the Sonos app and which is on by default and can only be switched off if I access my Sonos account on-line and switch it off there. I must say this gives me the creeps and makes me wonder how private my use of Sonos really is. Does anyone now? Is my listening experience a private one or is Sonos keeping tabs? What sort of messages is Sonos planning to send me? Will it be yet another channel for advertising? Why must I go online to switch it off?
BOSE SoundDock II
Does anyone have a ZP90 hooked up to the aux input on a bose sound dock II? If yes, does it automatically power on when u hit play on the sonos? And does the volume change with the sonos remote or would the bose be controlling that? I recently purchased a sonos bundle and I am very pleased with it. I just want to be able to have an easy setup in the spare bedroom when guests stay. I like the idea of having a system in there where they can charge their ipod/iphone, play music off their own unit or choose to play from my catalog. Does anyone have a setup like this? I dont really want to go for a multi-speaker setup in here, there are many reasons which i won't go into. I like the idea of a ZP90 feeding an all in one unit like the sound dock. But have the auto power on and have sonos control the volume. Am I asking too much? Thanks. Thanks.
Hi - is it possible to get the output from a bose wave 3 radio to sonos? I realise I can use the bose as a sonos speaker using a connect and the 'aux' setting. Looking to get multiroom but don't really want to get rid of it! Would settle for a work around if anyone has one! Thanks in advance for any help
Bridge not working
I try to connect or add my bridge through the SONOs console but it doesn't seem to recognize it and no bridge lights come on. It times out without connecting. I've tried all the fixes suggested (power off/on, router cycle, etc). I've tried to connect with desktop which is hardwired to the system - no luck. Please help with a solution.
Some questions before getting two Play:1s as surround
Hi! I am quite new to Sonos, have read some on this forum and the guides for 5.1 but I feel I must ask some questions before I take the plunge and get a couple of Play:1s. I have read the guide (https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/home-theater-and-television-recommendation-megathread-6735001) and can see in the app that it plays Dolby digital 5.1 from both Netflix and my BD player. The thing that confuses me is that this should not be possible since Netflix uses DD+ and BD films I tested uses DTS hd master but still the app tells me the playbar plays DD5.1 and I get perfect sound, is my tv converting the sources for me automagically and I will get surround if I get the two Play:1s? DTS from dvd does not work how ever but that is according to spec but how come it works from DTS hd ma? Next thing, can Sonos 5.1 emulate Dolby Prologic II and give me "fake" surround from stereo sources? I have a Sony KD-55X8505B tv and a Sony BDP-S5500 Bd player connected to my Playbar
Play One For Two Uses...
I have a Play One and love it! Can I use that as a speaker (like I currently do) by itself when listening to music but add it to a PlayBar for surround sound? There are times I'd like to use the speaker by itself but other times when watching TV that I would like it to work as part of the surround sound system. Let me know if this is possible. Thanks!
Sonos with Yamaha interaction
Hello, I own a yamaha receiver and one sonos play1 (thinking of adding more)...I understand that with a sonos connect I will be able to transmit music from my sonos to my yamaha system, but I more interested in the opposite...so the question is: Will I be able to transmit audio from my yamaha (for example what i play there with airplay) to the sonos speakers in other rooms? Since connect is a rather expensive addition I would appreciate a certain answer
Amp for Outdoor System - Connect vs Connect:AMP
I have pretty much made up my mind to go with either 2 or 4 Definitive Technology AW 6500 outdoor speakers. The plan is to start with 2 and see how it sounds and then add 2 more if needed. These speakers can handle 200 watts each. The impedance is rated at 4-8 Ohms. I have read a few people running 2 and some that are even running 4 of these speakers on a single Sonos Connect:AMP. However, it appears this amp is only rated at 55 watts per channel which seems pretty low for speaker that can handle 200 watts. I spoke with Crutchfield and they recommended using the Sonos Connect with a Yamaha R-S700 stereo receiver that provides 100 watts per channel and only 2 of the speakers. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. What would your choose for 2 of these speakers? 1. Sonos Connect:AMP 2. Sonos Connect with a separate stereo receiver? If so, what receiver? 3. Sonos Connect with A/V receiver? If so, what receiver? What would you choose for 4 of these speakers?
