Sorry this happened. Send your police report info to Sonos support and see what they say.

thank you. Unfortunately the police aren't interested at all. I was hoping there was a way to go online and start messing with it - alarms and putting * music on etc

Usually you can get the police to generate a report if you ask nicely. Just give them the time it was taken and the serial number and they will poke it into their computer and hand you a printout. Our police here are cheap, charged me $2.00 for a single page report.
Send a copy of that to Sonos and it will usually also make it onto a stolen property list that pawn shops and such use to avoid buying stolen equipment.
