Am trying to setup a system to go in a lobby - won't have a laptop or phone to control and no internet access. The hardware will be a connect w/o amp, 1 play:5 and 2 play:3. The music source will be line in via the play:5 and the play:3's will be grouped so music plays on all speakers. I've got just about everything figured out except how to have a speaker lose power and then reconnect to the group when power is restored? What am I missing?
I have an ATT Uverse cable box hooked up to my Samsung PN64D8000FF tv via an HDMI cable, a Playbar connected to the TV with the optical connection, and 2 Play:3s for surround sound. In the "About Sonos" menu it shows the "Audio In" as Stereo. I can't seem to get 5.1. When I go to the TV menu to select the Sound output, it is stuck on PCM and I can't select Dolby Digital. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks as always. -Tyler
So what gives? Why can't I add my iTunes library to the Sonos Controller 6.4. The menu "Manage" is all greyed out. Is this yet another limitation to this Play One speaker I have? I currently cannot update the system due to some older software I still must run. Is there anyway around this limitation? Both Sharing and Firewall settings are set as recommended by Sonos. Mac 10.7.5 Itunes V12.2 Sonos 6.4
I have a Denon AVR-1912 receiver, NHT front speakers and a subwoofer (can't remember the brand) a Sharp 80" tv, all wired. I'd like to add wireless rear speakers and I'd love to use Play 1's. What would I need to do to make them work with my existing system? Thanks in advance. I've searched the communities and read the other Denon questions but they didn't really replicate my setup.
I just bought a UE55KS8005XXE (or UE55KS8000XXE outside Denmark) and it came with the Samsung One Remote (http://m.wsj.net/video/20160420/042016samsungremote/042016samsungremote_1280x720.jpg). How do I configure the Playbar for this signal? It does have a IR-transmitter to act as a universal remote, but I can't seem to make it respond. Can anyone shed light on this? :)
I've decided to replace my expensive ($5000) 2.0 stereo system with a Sonos system in my music listening room. It is a 15' x 15' living room. I already have a pair of Plays1, and a Connect, for music in the kitchen area. I love the Sonos system. Anyway, due to budget reasons, I was thinking of a pair of Play3s + the sub or ... a pair of Play5s. I don't play super loud. I'm more interested in the sound quality. What do you think? Are the Play5s that much better for mids and highs than the Play3? I'm open to all recommendations. Thx, Rob
I have just tried to leave the beta program as I would prefer to use all the controller functions on my iPhone and iPad including EQ settings, Trueplay setup and other points. However, it did not work and I received a message saying Error code 9: and then all the room names.
Hey all, I recently set-up the Sonos 5.1 Home Theater system (Playbar + Sub + 2 Play:3s). I've plugged the Playbar directly into the wifi router, and the TV I'm using is a Samsung PN64D8000FF. When watching NBC Sunday Night Football last night, it didn't sound like the rear Play:3s were actually kicking in any sound. It sounded like only the Playbar was pushing sound, and the Sub was very weak. So, I have a couple questions: 1.) If I go to "About Sonos" in the app while the tv is playing, will it show me whether there is 5.1 Surround Sound being played? 2.) Can anyone confirm that the Samsung PN64D8000FF is capable of pushing out 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound in the first place? 3.) Any other recommendations/tips on how to ensure that the home theater system is actually pushing out surround sound, and that the speakers are working properly? Thanks as always everyone!
Just purchased the playbar, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a mount for the playbar that would enable me to hide the otpical cable to the back of the tv for a clean look? I see the Sonos official playbar mount and I also see some mounts online that attach to the back of your TV that hold the playbar directly below the tv and was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these. Thanks!
Does anyone know if blue-tooth will be available for sonos anytime soon? if that happens, would the entire speaker need to be replaced ? I am new to the system and am debating between Sonos and Bose since Bose has bluetooth tech and I happen to use frequently, but I like the sould on Sonos better, which makes it a difficult choice to make.
Newbie here. So, I just upgraded (ha!) my wireless network, getting rid of the Comcast modem and router nd installed a TP-Link AC3150. Now my Sonos controller wont see the network, even when connected via Ethernet to the router. All other devices, with the exception of an older kindle, see the network with no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks! yanceylebeef
When I use Pandora (not Pandora One) I can select Shuffle Play and choose which of the many stations on my list I want to be included in that Shuffle. How is this feature enabled when using Pandora on Sonos. Does the Quickmix allow you to select a limited number of stations or does it just toggle between all of your stations.
Hello! I recently had my first experience with Sonos while staying at a vacation rental and I am sold :) I have a living room Sony sound bar and sub that work quite well so I'm thinking of buying a play 1 pair for a kitchen and bedroom speaker and then a connect for the Sony. I primarily use an Xbox for all media cconsumption which routes audio and video into the Sony via HDMI, Sony plays audio, then routes video to TV (which is just a glorified monitor now) via HDMI. Questions arise when I have a connect running into the Sony. I'm assuming I'll have a new audio input from Connect into the Sony so ill need to switch between those to get either Xbox video/audio or streaming Sonos to work? Also will the Sonos connect turn on my Sony or will I need to either leave it on 24/7 or turn it on manually when I want to stream music? Anything else I'm missing here? Thanks a ton!
Hi folks - I have a 5 piece Sonos system in multiple rooms within our house. Wifi network is secure and working perfectly. Speakers are on separate breakers in a new house. Everything was great for almost a year then without warning, two Play 1s and a Play 3 stopped being recognized by the app on my phone. I've been through the set up process multiple times but the speakers are no longer being picked up and I'm getting a solid orange light (which suggests over heating... only they're cold... and it's November) Please help me wonderful community! Getting really frustrated as we have family staying for the holidays and one of the main reasons I got this system was for occasions like Thanksgiving! If it doesn't work soon then I'll get a refund and kit my house out with a competitor system... Thanks
Hi there, I'm trying to setup my parents with Sonos for Christmas. We currently have a few Play 3s around the house, but I want to get a setup for our living room thats rather large (20 foot ceiling and open concept to the dinning room). I'm not sure between a pair of Play:1s (and eventually adding a Sub), pair or Play:3s or a single Play:5. Any recommendations or suggestions on what to think about? Thanks in advance! Colin
Hi everyone, For reference, my post is related only to listening to music. I picked up a Play 3 today, mostly to explore the Sonos eco-system and gauge the quality of the product line. I am very impressed with the software/interface/capabilities of the Sonos systems. In fact, I am sold alone on the technical aspects of a Sonos system. I figured that if liked it, I intended to reuse the Play 3 for a small room, and spec out a solution for our living room/dining room area. This is the main area that I sit and listen to music. I should add, I dont have music just playing in the backgroud; one of my hobbies is sitting and listening to music for hours. I have been a long fan of speaker systems that separate the highs and lows into dedicate speakers (satellite and sub style setups). For my ear, these deliver the sound quality I am fond of. So, for my living room, I am debating whether I would be best suited by two Play 1's (plus sub) or two Play 3's (plus sub). I can very much appr
