Sonos on an Office Network
I work in an office with one server and several switches plus a wi-fi that goes throughout the building. It seems that I can't setup Sonos on our office Wi-Fi as it requires a username/password configuration in order to logon. I don't think we have a router either. How do I set up Sonos? Can I just plug a Boost into a spare port in a switch? I don't know much about servers so please explain in layman's terms. Thanks for all your help/
"Audiophile" power cable for your Connect
Not making this up. I'll never understand why they make this sort of nonsense, and why fools buy into the joke, but they do, including "journalists". http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2016/04/spruce-up-your-sonos-connect-with-nordosts-purple-flare/ "Cutting to the chase: the Nordost cable sounds better. It shines a light into music’s murkier corners exposing greater subtleties, most notably lengthening the tail of each piano note’s natural decay on Nils Frahm’s “Says”. Elsewhere, Fela Kuti’s funked-up protest jazz (Afrodisiac) sounded both more rhythmically fruitful, Brian Eno’s Small Craft on a Milk Sea less anaemic. And yet, paradoxically, the additional intensity brought by the Nordost wire also sounded more relaxed. Joining the dots between amped up fervour and greater repose is our third qualitative descriptor: effortlessness." Sigh.
Home Cinema Setup: Can I use a PlayBar and two Play 1's as a Home Cinema setup?
Hi guys, I've got a PlayBar and a Play 1 at home. Currently, only the Playbar is connected to the TV, in the living room. I'm thinking of getting an additional Play 1, and create myself a kind of Home Cinema setup in my Living Room, with the Playbar and both Play 1s. However, this doesn't seem to be a scenario mentioned here: http://www.sonos.com/en-gb/products/wireless-home-cinema. Will it only work if I get an additional sub, or will this work? Thanks!
Playbar 5.1 Trueplay Reviews
Hi there, As a nerd for tinkering with my Sonos setup, the 7.0 Trueplay release for the Playbar has been a joy. I have a playbar + SUB + two Play:1s. The playbar rests below the TV on a stand about 4ft away from the corner of my basement. The SUB is behind the TV stand in the corner. The surrounds face each other behind the seating, they rest about 15ft from the TV stand. The basement has carpet, basic couch and two arm chairs, with 8 foot cielings. However, I am wondering: what kind of a difference I should be noticing in the setup when watching movies or playing videogames, after Trueplay? To me, it sounds as if the left and right channels on the Playbar got their volumes increased, creating a more immersive sound stage. The SUB also seems to impact the glass cabinet less, which is about 20 feet away off to the side of my basement corner. These are just my basic observations! I would love to know about other people's before/after reviews of Trueplay on their 5.1 setups.
iPhone does not see Sonos on WiFi
For some reason, when I try to open Sonos on my iPhone, I get a screen saying I'm not connected to WiFi. In the iPhone's settings, I show I'm connected to a 5.0 mHz network, which is what I have my iOS devices set to. The Play 3 plays and Speedtest, over WiFi, gives me a 40+ megabit downstream, 12+ up. To further muddy the water, my iPad Air sees and operates Sonos in the same location that the iPhone does not see it on my WiFi network. I had to use my iPad to set up TruePlay since my iPhone couldn't see Sonos. Any thoughts?
Teleconference app for Sonos
Is there a teleconference app for Sonos? There are microphones in some Play speakers but not in the Play:1 which instead could use the linked iPhone or Android device microphone, with all sound coming from the Sonos speaker. Could be a whole new business model for Sonos. Is this a good idea? Let me know if you want to use my idea (invention).
(Playbar with surround & sub) - volume difference between TV and music inputs
I'm brand new to Sonos, and absolutely love the gear so far! I've also spent much of the last 2 days browsing around all of the information on the Sonos web site and in this community forum, which has taught me a ton! I have one small issue that I'm wondering if there is an easy solution for. I have a playbar with a sub and two play-1's for surround. The playbar is connected to an LG 55LA7400 TV via the optical cable. My issue is that the TV volume is lower than the volume when I play music. When I use the Sonos system with TV, I have to bump the volume up 4 or 5 increments... no big deal... but then when I switch back to music it plays considerably louder than I would like, so I have to quickly turn the volume back down 4 or 5 increments, and hope my wife doesn't yell at me. LOL :) Is there any way to "equalize" the volume of the two different inputs in some way? I looked through the audio settings on my LG TV, but I didn't see anything related to changing the output le
Controlling Sonos Playbar Volume with LG 55EF950V (webOS 2.2) remote
I have a LG 55EF950V TV with wand remote (the TV is running webOS 2.2.0-1317). I would like to control the Sonos Playbar's volumne using the TV's "wand" remote (this runs over RF rather than IR). Has anyone managed to do this successfully on webOS 2.2? (I have seen some others post about this before with LG's wand but following others suggestions does not work).
Controller says it needs update, but won't
I am adding a play 1 to my system and doing so under settings, add speaker, it then shows that controller needs to be update, select button for update controller, which brings me to the App Store for Sonos app (even though I am running the sonos app (ver 7) on my iPhone (10.1.1), I hit open and it appears to open my sonos app on my phone, then I try to go to settings and add speaker all over again and it goes thru the exact same process (a do loop), help?

I also want sonos in my other rooms- 2 bathrooms/ lounge/ master bedroom. Do I buy a bunch of play 5's and start from there ? Any help appreciated - thanks in advance. Colin
How I built my own CR-200 replacement: A single-purpose Sonos controller device based on Android
Hi, I just wanted to share this little info for others here. Our kids used to run to us parents all the time in order to choose the music or audio books for them in their room. So we figured out they needed their own Sonos controller. For obvious reasons, we didn't want to give them a full smartphone to do this. Here's what we did: - find an outdated Android phone without a SIM card - preferably one that is supported by Cyanogenmod or a similar alternative firmware - install the opengapps nano package (Cyanogenmod explains it in their wiki) to get Google Play - install the Sonos controller app via Google Play - enable immersive mode for the Sonos app in Cyanogenmod's settings - turn off the "double powerbutton tap starts camera" option in Cyanogenmod's settings - install Mobilock Kiosk Lockdown app via Google Play - in Mobilock, you can set the Sonos app to be started automatically - once running, remove any other app except Mobilock and Sonos from the app switcher We had a Nexus 4
Error log: "Not enough Sonos player memory to complete index" - Why?
I just finished purchasing and setting up my Sonos amps and bridge (well, my installer did it, actually) and I am trying to load the music from my ReadyNasNV+ into the Sonos desktop software. My NAS has approximately 90,000 FLAC files, all properly tagged and in redbook resolution. Sonos is very slow to load, and ultimately only a few of my folders showed up in the library. I received the following error message in the log: Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - 11:11 AM Eastern Time Not enough Sonos player memory to complete index of '//NAS-01-3A-DA/media/Music'. A partial index has been stored. After some further reading on this site I noted that there is apparently a limit of 40,000 songs. Sonos claims it can handle large music libraries, so why is the limit only 40,000? Granted, most people don't have 1.6 TB of FLAC files, but I had absolutely no problem streaming all of them using my old Squeezebox system. I am incredibly disappointed and frustrated with Sonos. Why on earth is there
Sonos automatically starts playing.
When I'm not using the Sonos, i.e. it is not playing music from any source, the Sonos will start playing the sound from the computer, Mac Mini, whenever I start playing a YouTube video or start a song in iTunes. When this happens I have not done anything to start up Sonos! This seems to happen anytime there is a period of silence and then the sound starts. It is a problem as there are times that I just want the sound local to the computer and not go over Sonos.
