Just bought a new Sonos Roam. When trying to connect it, the App finds it and starts the connection process. It plays sounds an I reply by pressing the buttons. Then it’s saying adding Roam to your system. After a while it fails and says “something went wrong try again later “
In the app it shows “not registered “ but when trying to fix it, the same happens. Tried resetting the Roam to factory settings.
My system is A beam - wired connection,

2 one SL, a one and a play1 all in WiFi and have been running in this house a year now.
it kind of frustrating now.
Does anyone have any good ideas.

I got it to connect.  I had the same problem adding my roam to my existing Sonos system with my new app. I tried rebooting my device, rebooting my router, and What finally worked was logging out of Sonos app and logging back in. Once I did that my Roam connected to the rest of my system.

I’ve tried all of these suggestions and my new Sonos roam will not connect. All 10 of my other Sonos speakers are functioning without issue. Guess I’ll wait for another app update that hopefully fixes the issue.

FIX!  I was unable to connect my Roam to my system to play music on the network. I loaded the old app on my android phone and it told me the Roam needed an update. The new app (still running on my iPad) was not telling me this.

I was unable to update with the old app on my phone as it tries to get you to update the app first (no way I'm doing that). My iPad has the new Sonos app and it doesn’t show that the Roam needs an update. So I went to my PC which has the Sonos app running and I updated the Roam with my PC. Now it connects to the new app and works fine.

So the problem with the new app is it does not tell you or allows you to update your Roam.

This also fixed the issue for me. I wasn't able to get Roam to play music as a system with Move2.

I installed the Sonos app on my MacBook and was able to update the Roam that way, which in turn fixed the problem

Having the same problem with a Roam SL, bought it while on vacation and worked fine there. Now back home I want to add it to my home network, but registering it seems fails.

Had an older phone laying around (with iOS 15.8 that can’t run the new Sonos app) and using the old Sonos app I could finish the setup without issue.

Reading this made me remember how my wife always forgets to update the apps on her phone. Sure enough, she has the prior app (gold icon ver. 16.1) on her phone. I went through the steps to add the speaker, and it successfully complete.

The problem is 100% the new app. EDIT: now that the Roam speaker was added, I tried to use the new app (on my phone) to “add a stereo pair.” Immediately failed. Picked up the wife’s phone to pair the stereo Roam speakers and completed flawlessly. This new app is a flippin nightmare.

Using older sonos app worked a treat for me… ROAM SL will not connect with new Sonos app and so advise to connect with old app is perfect and worked first time… thank you

Doesn't work for me. When I use an older app version, I get the notification I need to update the app to the latest version in order to add my new Roam.

I guess that's because my Sonos ARC runs the latest firmware so I can't add the new Roam that hasn't got the latest firmware.

I am having the same problem. I was gifted a Roam SL for my birthday on May 11th. The same time Sonos updated their app. Using an iPhone 15 Pro with no luck. The new app will not add the Roam at all. No matter what I do, Cannot get it to add to my app. I got close one time using an older iPhone I had running the new app, but it got stuck on “Not Registered” and it needed an update. Once the update started it immediately failed. I tried to use an even older iPhone with the older gold app, and it won't even let me add a new product because the app is now “out of date.” Ridiculous!

PLEASE FIX YOUR APP SONOS!

Exact same issues her. Pathetic.

This issue seems to have been resolved with the release of an app update today.

Not for me!
