Connecting Sonos Beam to a DLP projector

I dont seem to be able to get sound out of my Beam when I connect it to either my Blu Ray player or directly to my BenQ TK800 m projector. 
 

Is there an ‘idiots guide’ as not particularly technical! 
 

Both are new and I was expecting to be able to ‘plug and play’ but having read various posts I now realise it is more complicated than I thought.

Airgetlam

The Beam requires an HDMI ARC output, which requires the TV set. Neither your projector nor your blue ray player have HDMI ARC. 
 

If you check in the Home Theater section of the forum, you’ll find dozens of similar threads, most with solutions.
