I see that Sonos updated their terms of use, license and warranty agreement in June 2024.  Sonos is requiring me to agree to to the updated terms to access the Sonos app. 
 

What are the changes to these documents?  It would be helpful to know what changes Sonos is asking me to agree to.  

The current and previous versions are all available in the legal section of the website and probably easier to read on a computer than a phone/tablet

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a summary highlighting which sections have changed. Maybe it’s a US thing or because they are presenting them as terms to use a new app, but usually when companies change the terms I get an email with a highlight of what or which sections they’ve updated.

I haven’t read compared both, but there is a wording difference as early as section 2a, so I expect there are many similar phrasing changes throughout the whole doc.

Even in 2a there is and previously has been wording I don’t agree with, because Sonos don’t provide what I consider appropriate security controls for me to protect my account. The days of just a username/password being enough for online protection are long gone.

By registering, You agree that You are fully responsible for all activities that occur under Your Sonos Account.

 


This sentence in the new license agreement caught my eye, “Product Software Updates, if any, may not necessarily include all existing software features or new features that Sonos releases for newer or other models of Product(s).”

I can’t be bothered to check but I suspect that clause might not have been in the previous agreement!

Nah it’s there in the agreement from 2022
