How does the app keep getting worse and worse over time. It's too bad, I've had some of my Sonos speakers for around 10 years now. Even on a brand new phone the current app is not user friendly, missing functionality that it used to have. And removed the playlists I had. So disappointing given how great the whole experience used to be. The new update is much worse, missing basic functionality now,  So irritated.

Old app please. Whoever rolled out the new app should be fired

Boxed up a new sub gen 3. Then hell began. Used the magnifying app to be able to read the number required at registration. Tiny dark gray text on a black background. The magnifying app barely made it! The next step down into hell, see picture.

Spent several hours (8-9) to get it installed. With previous app took this procedure 3-5 minutes without any errors and clear process.
No TRUST for the Sonos brand anymore!

Let’s not pretend Sonos don’t know what they are doing, the process is to make older products obsolete !

Agreed it's really a terrible update. Android and Apple house here. Can no longer see the numeric volume. Cannot removing upcoming songs from the queue. More difficult to look at all the speakers and what they are playing. Harder to scroll to see the different music providers.

It's like they are trying to make it harder to use the app. We are considering getting speakers from a different company, we are just so tired of the bad app updates.

Sonos, you need to spend more on the software people use for your speakers, or lose consumers.

Holy s***! The new app is so aggravating I refuse to use my system and am contemplating starting over with Bose. The app is completely unusable. You couldn’t have screwed it up worse if your goal was to piss all of your customers off. Come on, Sonos, are you even listening? People have a lot of money wrapped up in your speakers and you f***d the app up again. Publish a message to let users know that you hear us and are working on a solution. If there is something we need to do to resolve this, f****g let us know. Too many people getting pissed off!

Earth to Sonos, come in Sonos. Throw your users a bone on how to rectify these issues.

The speakers are brilliant but completely let down by the software. So frustrating and not intuitive at all, considering just scraping them all and moving to another manufacturer. How can you upgrade something and not only make it worse but also more difficult to use?

I can no longer even log into the app because it sends you to a web portal which doesn't talk to the app. No idea why they did that, speakers are pretty much bricks now.

The new app is an unmitigated disaster. It’s so slow that it doesn’t seem to recognize my system half the time. Music can be playing on speakers but the app says nothing is in the queue.  From the app I can’t play music to many of my speakers reliably anymore. I use this system every day and I just need it to work reliably again. I think Sonos needs to  provide some kind of community statement on what they are doing to fix this. I haven’t really ever though about moving to another speaker setup given how much I’ve spent on Sonos speakers but if this continues I might have to, this is unacceptable.

The new app is bad … this thread is replete with strong evidence of that fact. People ask me to recommend sound solutions for their homes. I will never recommend Sonos again. The company doesn’t seem to care about much but selling product.

It's hard to understand why there is no response or explanation regarding all this from Sonos themselves. Quite baffling and very frustrating...

I’ve rescanned my library on the nas drive, Sonos is now only seeing half of it.

I have music playing in 3 rooms but Sonos app says nothing is playing

I select Kitchen and go to favourites, and get ‘something has gone wrong’

As a fan for years, this app from May seemed to ruin most of my appreciation of the system.

i am going to borrow some Bluesound kit to try or buy a few Naim Musos for bedrooms.

I would be very happy if I could get App S2 back and forget this happened.

sadly Sonos became obsessed with just sales and not much else.

Shocking.  The latest update has rendered a houseful of speaker completely useless.  I tell everyone I know not to buy anything from this company.  The app itself - which used to at least make some sense - has been redesigned in a way that makes everything harder: searching, volume control, reaching playlists, ALL of it.  But that’s irrelevant… Because it can’t connect with the system, so I can’t play music anyway.  And god help me if I do successfully start a song, I’d better commit…  Because I won’t be able to turn the music off!

Perfect summary...the loss of features sucks, but doesn't really matter since the app update has rendered my system non-functional. Shocking that a company that is built on software can destroy its core app with a single update.

Last update June 24th (build 79.1-54060). Hard to imagine that Sonos can sink any further. But they have succeeded again! Nothing works after this update. No access to services. Only the damn headphone ad comes up!

Won't be rushing to buy their headphones after this fiasco!

New app is a complete failure. This company has stopped caring about customer service.

Half of my system is bricked at this point. Amp will not come next to the app. Sub seems to connect to the app it then doesn’t work.
Anyone experienced this and solved it?

Hi, I have been having the same problem for months.  Seriously considering changing the complete system because of connectivity issues.  Trying to change radio stations and finding myself shouting at the darn thing.  Which ain't good.  So as a last throw of the dice. (Android user here)  I did the following. 1. Uninstalled the Sonos app.  2. Restarted my phone.  (With a complete power down).  3. Reinstalled the Sonos app.  4. Run the Sonos app and connect into existing system when prompted.  - It does feel more responsive and I can now jump between radio stations with a 2-3 second lag.  Which is a big improvement.  Now working way better with 2 phones that were connected previously using this reinstal method.  Hope this helps before the system gets launched!   Ps. Simply uninstalling and reinstalling the Sonos app without a power down didn't fix the issue.

Class action lawsuit anyone?

The new app is absolutely crap and continuously shows that it is trying to search for something (blank page and loading icons forever on Apple Music). But all my other devices connected to WiFi work seamlessly. After nearly 10 years I’ve had enough of this crappy company now.
Ditching this whole system and moving to Apple or Amazon. Absolute sh*te.

The thing is we all own hundreds or possibly thousands of pounds worth of Sonos speakers, which are excellent quality and would be hard to match. So ditching the system for me is not an option. Luckily the surround sound function isn't affected, just streaming and controlling the various speakers for music has become worse than ever. I was never a fan of the original app, it struggled with Amazon Music sometimes. I won't be expanding my Sonos system anytime soon...

it’s interesting tactic by Sonos, if they’re doing this to try to make our older speakers obsolete I mean.  For sure I will never be buying their headphones, which seem to be the reason for this new app being rolled out before it was finished and working reliably.  Honestly I think they’ve prevented a lot of people spending a lot of money on their hardware generally, because there are so many problems getting them to work.

If it is the plan to make our old speakers obsolete then it will prevent me buying newer Sonos products. because chances are they’ll do this again in a few years time when their profits slow down and they need more people to buy new speakers

I totally agree. This company is the worst... horrid service, horrid intuitive technology, and if their technology does start working well they INSANTLY set themselves back with new updates. I have personally stopped so many sales of Sonos products at the bestbuy I work at because I tell customers how bad they are.

Describing this app as crap is a complete understatement as far as our experience is concerned.  We use Android and iOS devices and the functionality of this update has left us frustrated and regretting ever buying into this ecosystem.

SONOS software devs. have to do ONE THING.  Get it to PLAY SOUNDS THAT YOU WANT TO HEAR.  Similar to what others here have said, whatever group of lobotomized monkeys that decided that this software was acceptable should be shown the door, right after the numb-skulls who authorised it for inflicting on their unfortunate user base.  If I performed so appallingly in my job, I would have some serious questions to answer.

The system in theory is great and hardware good quality overall, but its utterly useless without the software to operate it with.  WHY is this so hard to understand??

We own many SL speakers, a sound bar and sub-woofer, the latter of which are less than a year old, the others less than two.  We use Tidal, BBC Sounds, YouTube Music and Radioplayer.  We prefer Radioplayer as it has some stations we listen to often. However, after long periods of watching a circle spinning around on the screen we will regularly get obtuse messages like ‘something went wrong’ and the like- I mean, you have GOT to be kidding. WHAT went wrong? Radioplayer is the worst, but have had issues with the others also.

I won’t go into other details as it has all been said and we want to join the chorus of voices telling this company to extract their digits and fix this &^%* eminently solvable problem.

I also hate the new app. Luckily I only have three Sonos so it is easier to switch. My biggest complaint is that the volume buttons on my Android phone don't change the speaker volume when the app is open. The app says the volume is changing but the speaker volume doesn't actually change.
