I received a new Roam SL as a gift and have been trying all weekend to connect it to my existing Sonos system. I had to download the newest version of the app which created other connectivity problems with one of my 5 systems, but eventually got all but one speaker working.  THEN I worked on adding the Roam and no luck. It fails on the very last step. I’ve tried the options it gives me an nothing.

Tried calling support and there is an 80- minute wait with NO callback, are you kidding me?

Any help would be appreciated before I return this.

Do you get to the stage of when it chimes?

when it wants to chime hold your phone in one hand and the roam in the other, I know it sounds odd, but it worked for me.

Other suggestion, is turn off all your other stuff, so the app only focuses on adding new product.

I had similar issue to you, but got there after about 30 minutes of frustration.

yes it chimed with the initial setup portion. I have tried powering everything down, adding just the new speaker that it “sees” in the app, fails when using the “add” option

when in the app is “sees” the new speaker but fails on the “getting your Sonos Roam SL ready….”

It states connection to your Sonos Roam SL was lost

I honestly can’t remember every step, that I did to get it going. Are you setting it up with a iphone or Android ? Or Pc? Mac?
Are you near your WiFi box? And at one point I remember I couldn’t get anywhere with it, the moment I had the speaker in one hand and my iPhone in the other when it chimes it worked.
potentially I’m no help lol

but I did get there and I hope you do. I have two move 1’s and two roams in my kitchen, both in stereo pairs, sounds great!

I have this same situation.  New Roam that will not connect and fails at last step.  I was on chat with a Sonos rep who stated this is a known issue with the Sonos App “bugs that the app is facing right now”  “we don’t have an ETA wht this will be solved, but the engineers are actively working to solve this”.

I managed to connect a new Sonos SL with the new app, so all I can say, is that I managed to make it work a week ago! Good luck

Yep - tried in different locations in my house, but my wifi isn’t the problem as I have access points all over. Mine is clearly stuck in setup mode as I can’t even get bluetooth to work now.

Tried calling again and its a 60 minute wait. crazy!

I’m going to search for how to do a factory reset. if that doesn’t work I’m sending it back., Im spending WAY too much time on this stupid speaker.  I’m an engineer so tried a number of different configs. I have a small portable Boise that is amazing.

Hope you manage to fix it , how frustrating, Sonos isn’t making these experiences much fun for people.
wish I could have been more help

returning the speaker today.  sad as I really wanted an integrated portable option but the return window will be expiring soon and its too expensive for a paperweight!

A new update is out today on the app, covering the issue you are having, just seen the update on Facebook Sonos group.

Unfortunately, new version 80.01.10 (May 21) now receives error even earlier in the setup process and no longer even gets to the chime/tone. System recognizes there is a Roam SL nearby but states one of two alternating error messages (1) “Your mobile device couldn’t connect to your Sonos Roam SL. Move your mobile device closer and make sure the Sonos Roam SL is powered on”, or (2) “Your mobile device is unable to set up your product”. Use a different mobile device and try again. 10 different Sonos products in home and never had issue in past.

What the *?

I hope you’re wrong?  Or someone else is, beyond the joke.

i just updated the app and tried setting up my Roam only to experience what you experienced, fails with those two errors, doesnt even get to the temp network or chimes anymore.

I just added a new Roam, straight out the box, I had to charge the roam first, as battery was low, I managed to add the Roam as a new System within 10 minutes,

Anyone has a problem chat to tech support via the internet. Very efficient service I’ve had off them.

I’m having the exact issue as everyone else here. I even tried factory resetting it but all the same errors. It recognizes on the app it is there but it throws up an error to connect as well. Is it worth trying to contact support or just return it? It’s too expensive and the fact this is a know issue. They should remove from the website temporarily. I literally just got mine 5 days ago

Just contact tech support over the internet they will sort your situation out in about 10 minutes

I don’t get how I can set up my system and add a new Roam and at one point I had to talk to tech support, but still I managed to sort everything.

i finally connected, had to use both my phone app and my mac app for the set up but this speaker is finally connected. feels like a miracle at this point
