This one is good, did not know about the new cloud-based features (and lack of security!)

CEO figures we just need time to get used to change, we just did not realize it yet:

I am aware of four articles so far about the epic failure of the new Sonos app:

Anyone aware of any others?

Looks like the NY Times is weighing in with a big warning at the top of this article:

https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/sonos-player/

In case this article wasn’t listed above.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2024/05/17/sonos-new-app-update-problems/

All of these articles cannot be ignored by corporate. In terms of software development this was a huge blunder and they are paying for the backlash.

In terms of a case study this may be at the top of the list. How not to handle a botched app and product launch. The dev and marketing teams were at odds in the release of the headphones and new app and it shows.

The VASA principle in action. <« A HUGE FAIL

MARKETING has destroyed their audience, customer base and the lifetime value of each and every customer from here on out.

The question now is will they stay afloat!

Seems like silence in the news for now, but the app is still a nightmare.

Sonos taking down negative articles or people just got tired of complaining to a company that does not listen and are looking for a new ecosystem?

I doubt that SONOS has any control over general news sites. “News” is generally something new or unusual. Reporting that “the sun came up today” is not very exciting news unless you live in a polar region.

They are still coming out. Sonos can’t take down negative articles.

Here’s a new one from the NYT I found on Reddit, where there is also a fair bit of comment about the whole issue.

The word is certainly getting around…..
