I am trying to login to the app from my iPhone but its unable to recognise the login details (they are 100% correct) I can login to Sonos fine if I use a web browser any ideas thanks

Any time you get a Sonos device owned by somebody else, the first thing you should always do is a factory reset

Any time you gift or sell one of your own Sonos devices, the last thing you should do before disconnecting it is a factory reset.

thanks ive figured it out the Sonos speaker was registered in the store as it was on  display  had to transfer the account

Try deleting and reinstalling the Sonos app and rebooting your phone.
