Hi,

has somebody found an official SONOS statement, which SONOS speaker functions are still usable when not connected to the internet (offline)?

In the new SONOS app, I just tripped over an additional login screen when trying to configure an individual speaker. Sorry, that is a no go - I must be able to configure my speaker (my money) without the SONOS corporation. I am afraid of a scenario where SONOS goes under e.g. SONOS get sued by a competitor into bankruptcy, their servers go offline. Then I am stuck with thousands of dollar of worthless speaker junk.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Dirk

Not a direct answer to even a question that is slightly different - can a local library be used while Sonos is offline?

See the link  and if you read all of it you will see that at this time there isn't a definitive answer to that question:

Thanks for pointing out that thread. It indicates that SONOS is changing to architecture to an even more cloud centric pattern. In consequence, any type of local action via the new app would naturally fail. At least the various described experiences I saw point into that direction.

That brings me back to my question - has any one seen any SONOS commitment what features are available when offline/offgrid (no internet, local network working)?

I have not in the last ten or so days; but let’s see what others say, if they do so.
