Wired speakers
I would like to use wired in ceiling speakers to avoid having to power each speaker. What is the best set up to use the sonos app for 12 speakers (3 rooms)? 3 Connect: Amp units?

Yes; and you are probably better off also using three impedance matching speaker selector devices for each room since each Connect Amp will drive 2 speaker pairs.

+3I would abandon the speakers and buy a bunch of Play1s as than you can move them around in the future. Just saying Do the math on the CA and the Play1s
I would go the play 1 route as well, and not just for cost reasons. Better sound quality, and flexibility to move them around as desired while being discreet. But they do need each to be wired to a mains socket.
